Audi A4 Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi I m thinking to buy Audi a4 2016 model run 39000 will be good? Please reply
Hi Raj, when buying the vehicle either from a dealer or privately, conduct your checks and research before signing the dotted line. There is a lot of information online regarding the A4 on any recalls or any issues. I’ve owned 2 Audis in the last 8yrs and the only issue I’ve had was with my A3 which had a recall with the mechatronics which Audi replaced free of charge.
The A4 is a reliable model and it’s Audi’s bread and butter and was the best selling model until the SUV masses started taking over. The A4 competes with the likes of BMW 3 series and Mercs C class. Although since servicing my 2022 A4, my Audi mechanic states the A4 did have oil leak issues in the past which Audi did address and fixed.
Be prepared and I’m warning you, when buying a German prestige car out of the 3 premium marquees - Audi, BMW, Merc - parts are quite expensive, servicing costs are a little higher than the normal brands out there. Some people complain about the expensive parts but that’s what you pay for when buying a prestige brand. My advice is and it depends where you live, if you can’t afford to get your A4 service at an Audi dealership, there are alot of reputable European mechanic specialists popping up everywhere and most of the mechanics from these workshops are ex mechanics from one of the 3 German marquees and they know the ins and outs of your car and they can be cheaper to go too.
My 2022 A4 is a dream to drive, very comfortable, great on long trips, great on fuel, great looks and the tech is bloody awesome and spot on. I feel more safer in my A4 because of the built quality and safety tech installed in the car compared to the Holden and fords I used to drive in the past.
Hope the above helps if you need more questions message me on my profile.

Price is cheap...considering brand new was like 90k+ but a used Audi usually have a lot of problems.

Every Audi is an overpriced VW, and every Audi dealership is a bully ...kind of like a Holden dealership. You have my sympathies.
My Audi is an in-line turbo with Torsen AWD. You cannot buy a VW with those specs. Bought with a fixed price four year service and then over to an independent Audi trained mechanic. There are people here not telling the whole truth.

Your TCU has failed. You can have it repaired for around $1000.

Hi Guys, Looking to buy a 2016 A4 Quattro 2.0TDI, 24,000 k's the car has been flagged by the RACQ as having a shudder at a full lock turn. They mentioned that this wil lget progressivly worse and that it is likely in 20K to 40K it will be a really significant problem. Should I be running for the hills or is this a simple fix?
I hope you ran to the hills, sir
am planning to buy one a4 2013 . wat is your reconmedations
Fantastic car to drive however i wouldn't touch it without a warranty. Common issues are the engines and dsg gearboxes which can go and cost a fortune to replace. If you buy a demo with warranty at a good price it is a good car however the risk of a second hand one is high. It would not be uncommon to spend more than the car is worth in repairs no matter how well it has been looked after. BMWs and Lexus are more reliable cars generally. In addition Audi customer service is the worst I have experienced within the luxury car segment.
My previous Audi was 1999 model. Had it for 10 years and 180,000km with no drama at all. If the one you are looking at is not AWD then you halved your problems. Now it depends on whether it is a diesel or petrol. The DPF in a diesel can clog up and burn out the catalytic converter. Very expensive. If the car has a full service history then you minimise problems. One problem with the DSG is that it can feel jerky on take off, more of a light judder. This could indicate the gearbox has a problem. I have always had good customer service. The only car I ever had a major problem with was a BMW.

is it worth guys ...
That is a seriously tuned car! I would not touch it unless inspected by a qualified auto engineer. On the plus it is cheap. On the minus it is seriously non standard. I would check insurance etc. In the end it is your choice. I would also check the tyres; just fitted a new set to my B9 A4 for $1,200.
Does anyone know about the 2012 A4 3.2lt v6 FSI S.line quattro sedan? I am thinking of buying one. On & off road handling + comfort and reliability very important! HELP!!!! Betsy
I have a 2011 a4 #4 misfire changed spark plugs changed around the ignition coils 4 to 1 still getting readings on #4 misfire what next?
I recently Purchased A used 2006 Audi A4 B7 2.0 TDI, I am confused as to whether it is an s-line or not, the car is equipped with a 3 spoke steering wheel with (paddle shifters) and the option to use a “Sport mode” which seems to increase the revs, but the only thing is that the car is front wheel drive so it is not a “Quattro” but I have been told the 3 spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters and two tone leather seats are the signs of an S-line car. If anything can help me out it would be much appreciated.
Eurozone Automotive at Nundah Brisbane has excellent reviews and quoted 50 percent less for repair than Audi dealer.
2005 AUDI A4 B7 2.0 CVT - Located sunshine coast QLD-- need to replace MULTITRONIC Transmission Control Module I - it's flashing -doesn't reverse ETC - Mechanic sent to place in Melbourne to be fixed and was returned 3 times and advised cant source 2nd hand one so looking at $4k for new. ($1300 for nothing ) Can anyone help or have any suggestions ? only 100,000kms on clock and in great condition.
Have a look on the Audi VW forums, an answer to this issue may be there. Failing that if no fix is available here, there are companies OS will rebuild your defective unit. You will have to check on line . Good luck external link

I have a used Audi A4 3.0 Convertible 2 Door Sports Shift Gear and it's done 100,000KM already. It cost me only $5000 to buy from a car dealer. It's 2004 model but runs smoothly
I am about to buy a 2008 Audi A4 B8 with 180,000km and also has a reconditioned engine. Just wondering can anyone give me some advice as to if I should go with it or nah or anything to look out for?
I have bought and sold many cars during the past (13 cars in 8 years) and my advice to you is not to buy a car with this condition, regardless of the brand.
If you do or don't know much about cars the easiest way is a "state roads" inspection report . I have found them professional & thorough it's piece of mind for the buyer who is knowledgeable or not.Final decisions on price can be agreed to depending on the outcome of the report.
Has the 1.8 engine been discontinued in the A4?
