Bluegum – We recently bought a house and the patio was covered with paint splatter. I got out my 9 inch grinder and got most of the existing paint off. I did a rush job with the 9 inch but it’s my house so I don’t really care about the end result as I just wanted it done. (I could of hired a floor grinder) the results look amazing with Bluegum Dulux… Read more

Avista. Once we cover the patio with furniture it’s not going to be noticeable.

No bubbling easy to roll on and the quality is great. I did 3 coats, 2 of them were very light and the last one was a thick one

Disappointing Experience with Dulux Tintable Base Sealer – I recently tried the Dulux Tintable base sealer and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. Despite carefully following the instructions and working on a warm and wind-free day, the paint still ended up with noticeable bubbles. This was disappointing, to say the least. I had previously used a Nutech product with great results, and… Read more

I must admit, I regret not sticking to it. Although I had trusted the advice of a salesman and decided to give the Dulux Tintable base sealer a try, it failed to meet my expectations. It's frustrating when a product doesn't live up to its promises, especially when you invest your money, time and effort into a project. In light of my experience, I find it difficult to recommend this particular paint. If you're in search of a reliable base sealer that delivers consistent results, I would suggest considering alternatives, such as the Nutech product I had success with in the past.

I hope this review helps others in making an informed decision for their painting needs.

Amazing Product looks fantastic – This product is fantastic. I’ve used it several times over the last 7 years around my home to keep my 250sqm of concrete areas looking amazing. I use the general purpose tintable base with brick red colour. Never used any other product. This is the go to product for concrete contractors in SA. Never had any problems at all. Some facts. If you… Read more

do get a few bubbles. It’s moisture. 100% end of story. Simply rub them off and recoat. Yes of course sealers are going to make concrete surfaces slippery. Especially slate like finishes. Everyone with any common sense knows this. However you can purchase an Avista slip resistant additive. I use this on my driveway. On more sloping paths I lightly sprinkle red garnet grit over the first coat and then recoat. Works brilliantly. The photo attached is when I used the product a number of years ago. The sloping pathway was quite slippery but as mentioned above I have since recoated using anti slip additives and I no longer have any problems at all.

Should have read the reviews – Same issues as others. Bubbles everywhere. Looks horribly patchy after application. Don't use. Show details

Excellent product, docs could be better – Bought this as it is hard to find monument colour driveway paint. Paint rep said it is good substitute, reviews are very negative as always. Firstly, this is good paint - yeah it is a sealer, so less thickness, but still, easy to apply, looks great and not see through. I'll be using this again. Documentation is not too helpful about translucency,… Read more

mix lasting times, prior paint, or driveways - found some promo videos online which answered most of my questions. Product Specification is useless for my use case. For the record, you can use this as driveway paint over the top of other oil paint (ie JetDry). Dries pretty quickly. Had to drive on it after 2 days (not 5-7 as they say) but no sealer has come off, so top marks for durability already - 1 month old now. Still don't know how long the mixture will last once the hardener is mixed to the base (seems like a few days). I mixed only half, so enough left for a few years time.

Was nervous after all the negative reviews, but this is a great product!! – Project: recolour and seal swimming pool coping which was terracotta coloured paver bricks. I must admit I was very nervous and a bit skeptical after reading all the negative reviews on this product about flaking, peeling, discolouring and other defects. I took time to prepare the surface I was sealing. Cleaned with a general purpose cleaner… Read more

(sugar soap) and Pressure washed twice. Also did an acid wash just to be sure it was really clean. Made sure it was completely dry before I started (did the dry test as per the product instructions). So the proper preperation in cleaning the area, make sure its dry and take your time with applying this product and follow the instructions and you will have outstanding results. I applied this product with the non slip additive in the third/final coat and it came up a treat! It's been a couple of months and the product still looks like it did when I first applied it. Same colour and held its integrity. I'm in nth qld so it has been exposed to harsh sun and rain and its like its untouched. 10/10 for this product around the pool area.

Don't believe all the negative reviews.

Avoid using this product at all costs! Absolutely terrible – I have painted many exterior balconies, garages, driveways, walk ways and porches in my time as a painter and never have I had a product bubble like the avista did. Everything was done correctly in the prep was cleaned jet washed and prepped left to dry before painting there was absolutely no moisture present, the weather conditions were perfect.… Read more

The entire slabs bubbled at least 80-90% I then had to go round by hand getting rid of all the bubbles then the next day I purchased some nutech paint recoated the entire driveway and not one single bubble anywhere. I’m writing this so other trades don’t lose out like I did this product is absolutely terrible!

Very Disappointing Result – We had a brand new slab poured and spent 2 days getting the surface ready to be painted as per the product instructions and our local Inspirations Paint shop. Followed all instructions painting the floor to the letter and got air bubbles all over the finish. This product is meant to be impervious to chemicals and graffiti proof but so far anything… Read more

we have dropped on the floor has stuck and even an office chair marks the surface. We previously used a Rustolium product for the same effect and must say it was 100% superior to the Avista product, to say disappointed is an understatement we spent over $30k on this slab to get this finish.

Dulux Avista A Product Failure & Disaster – Do not buy this Product it is Rubbish I purchased this concrete sealer in November 2020, advised by the Dulux Shop salesman that this was the correct product to seal a driveway with new concrete and existing concrete, the existing having been coloured 25 years ago and had faded. The cleaning and application instructions were faithfully applied, … Read more

pressure cleaning, applying two coats of Avista Concrete Sealer. Six months later the existing concrete section the Avista has lifted in several large areas and the new concrete sealed area has lots of white patches appearing. When I called Dulux customer service team they said did I get I should have had the existing concrete ground to remove all traces of previous colouring, if the Dulux Shop salesman had advised me this need to be done we would have left the faded original instead we have this multi coloured patchwork of a driveway disaster and no help or solution from Dulux

Product failure – Brand new freshly poured driveway and the sealer is already lifting after two weeks - We have just spent $13,000 on a new driveway that was sealed by the Avista product . The sealant comes off the driveway when we drive on it , it sticks to the tyres and then gets ripped off leaving marks all over our driveway and we are NOT happy!  Show details

Disappointing failure – 18 year old stamped concrete driveway subject to daily full sunshine faded to a dull finish. After pressure cleaning, applied two coats of Avista Concrete Sealer and it looked great for a few months before returning to faded look. Very disappointed with the product! Show details

Good product – Repainted a large front drive looks amazing. Used a roller very pleased with the coverage & the finish. I have no hesitation in recommending the product. Will use the product to pain a large concrete bbq area.

Poor results – The area this product was used on has been resurfaced twice as the first time was very sharp and the second time is appears very patchy in colour and and after much stress over either the product for the person using the product I would not recommend this product. It’s questionable is a second sealer coat was applied. Looks terrible after 3 week. Should have just used fake grass. Show details

Fantastic product. Just need to know what you are doing – I am unsure as to why so many people are complaining about this product, I would have applied close to 1000 litres of this sealer with fantastic results every time. I have close to 300m2 sealed in it on my own home also for 6 years now. It has faded ever so slightly from the original colour but is holding up fantastically. My only complaint is… Read more

when working with it for an extended period the smell can make you light headed. P.S start applying your first coat with 50:50 xylene and sealer. It allows for better adhesion and penetration of the substrate. Also if you are having flakes of the sealer come off with the non slip adative as one review below stated i am guessing you applied the non slip in the first coat as this never happens when correct process is followed. Apply non slip in second coat after complete curing of first coat.

Poor results – Had back patio resurfaced and within 6 weeks it became patchy looking and cracks appeared. Non slip feature was very sharp when walking on it. Little bits keep on coming off, revealing the cement colour underneath paint. I could not recommend the product.

Product is useless – We have stencilled pattern pave pergola, professionable prepared, acid/spray cleaned, allowed to completely dry. Applied one coat of Avista concrete sealer, looked great for a week, then fading all came back. Applied second coat, once again, looked great for a week. then fading all came back.Have lost any faith in this product. I will have to source a product, that works, because this one certainly doesnt.

Concrete sealer resulted in shoddy, dangerous finish – As the seal & colour on my stencilled driveway & patio had faded over the years, I decided to get 'professional' advice on restoring & modernising it. A rep from AnyCrete Concreting assessed the areas & recommended AVISTA tintable concrete sealer. He started by acid washing the concrete then applied two coats of the sealer. Originally, the… Read more

colour was very intense but has since faded to resemble the colour chosen.

Unfortunately, the sealer is very, very slippery when even the slightest amount of moisture is present. Damp feet will have you slipping & sliding, but when its raining, we simply do not walk on it at all as there have some very nasty falls.

Also, absolutely everything marks this sealer. It has become badly marked from jacaranda flowers, bird droppings, dirt & water stains from plant pots. Even my previous 16 year old sealer was better at repelling dirt, stains & spills than this stuff. When you try to hose the marks off, the coating peels off too. Was only a few weeks after application that we noticed the coating was rubbing off in high traffic areas, like doorways & steps.

It looks like a cheap amateurish paint job, complete with stains & patches, that we are unable to use when wet, so its not surprising that people are shocked when they discover the cost was nearly $4,000.00

This is a shoddy product made worse with poor application. Would definitely never use this product or company again.

FYI: Check that the GST is included in the total before accepting the quote, as getting an invoice with a further 10% tacked onto the quoted price was a rude shock.
