Belkin SurgeMaster 6 Outlet Surge 2M Power Cord Protection Strip BSV603-2M
MPNs: BSV603-2M and BSV603au2M1 review
Solidly built, seems to be doing what it's supposed to do – There isn't an accurate way to review a surge protector full unless you're lucky enough to have the facilities to put a big surge through your power lines to see if it holds up to expectations. What I can say is I've read good reviews about Belkin, except for their "connected equipment" warranty. Their products are well made, and this is no… Read more
exception.
The switch is solid. At first, I thought it was weird to have the main on/off switch depressed, but after having it for a few weeks now, it makes sense to do it this way so it's not accidentally turned off. Being realistic, that hardly happens when you have the power board under a desk or out of the way, but it's still nice they considered it.
The plugs and sockets are solid. Plugs go in and stay in place; takes some effort to pull them out, but they come out solidly. Nothing loose, and they don't wiggle the slightest while plugged in.
I use this board for my computer equipment -- I have two monitors, a laptop, a docking station, and a heated pillow plugged into it. There's nothing to indicate power surges or that the accessories aren't getting their required amount of power; nothing's blown up either.
There are two lights on the power board: 1 indicating that it's "protected" which is on and green; the other one is labelled "not grounded" and hasn't come on. That's a good thing for me.
Belkin claims it protects with surges up to 650 joules. Again, there's no way for the average-joe to test/verify this.
This review can only get 4 stars at most because right now everything seems to indicate it's doing what it's supposed to do, and I can't test otherwise.
I could be tempted to give this 5-stars if it had individual switches for each outlet.
I've attached pictures of the box my unit came in so you can read the details. I also provided a close up photo of Belkin's "connected equipment" warranty.
I picked this one up at Bunnings as I found they were $10 - $20 cheaper than every place else.
