Bin Buddy Kitchen Citrus

New Product - Fabulous idea but doesn't work - save your money! – I have problems with my indoor rubbish bin in the kitchen smelling especially during warmer weather. Even taking the rubbish out daily still doesn't get rid of the problem. I have indoor cats & it is most likely their empty cat food sachets & leftovers. I was looking in my local Coles Supermarket on Monday & spied the "NEW" BIN BUDDY KITCHEN CITRUS product which is designed to Kill 99% of germs, Soak up Liquids & Eliminate Smells.
Eliminate Smells is what I am after. I realise that total smell elimination will be impossible but to help on a daily basis so that my bin smells ok from morning until that evening is what I'd hoped for.
The product is in a container with a swivel lid allowing a sprinkle or a heap to be added.
The directions say around 10g or 1 - 1/2 teaspoons should be sprinkled over the contents in the bin each time you use it.
I have done this for the past 3 days now & the smell is just as bad as it had been but it is actually made worse by the strange odour of this product. Today my bin is stinking after only 5 hours. I am in Tasmania & our max temperature was around 18-20degC so not overly hot like in other Australian locations.
"Citrus" - my idea of citrus doesn't smell like this. I don't know how to describe it. The only thing I've smelt similar was years ago when washing powder came in a box & I had a box that was damp. It put off a strange odour, just like this Bin Buddy Kitchen Citrus product.
$7.95 for a 550g container is expensive when it does absolutely nothing to help!
Save your money - don't bother buying it to try.
NOTE - I also purchased the Bin Buddy Products for the outside garbage bin in Berry & Citrus. They are supposed to include an insecticide as well as the deodorant qualities. I'm curious to try them & will give them a try after my bin is next emptied. That way I can start with a freshly washed clean bin. I will report how I get on.
