Great little vacuum – Just as the other battery operated vacuums it doesn’t last long, not even 5 mins in this one’s case. But such good suction and angles you could turn it to and extend the head. I personally love it for the little quick crumb vacuum without bringing out the big wire vacuum. It’s a great price too, bought it 2 Christmases ago and still happy with it :)
Brand New and Charging Light Will NOT Go Off – We just bought a brand new Black and Decker Dustbuster to replace the Black and Decker Dustbuster we had for over 20 years. Not happy this new one doesn't have a docking station like our previous model but that is not my point. The charging light will not go off after 3 days of charging. The dustbuster is fully charged and now the unit is… Read more
getting hot. What to do? Please advise. I didn't buy this to have to go through the hassle of returning it, etc.... Unfortunately, nothing is made to last anymore but at least give me 3 years!!!! Sad state of affairs! Black and Decker used to be a brand you could trust. What happened?

Ripper Little Machine – This thing is the ducks guts.(mine is the PV1410 XE 14.4v) .. It is well built, sucks well, and is easy to clean... Once you know how to clean it that is. Not only do you need to empty the clear chamber, but there is an internal fine filter that needs regular cleaning. If you keep up with that, this thing will keep delivering. Its very handy, and the cordless charging station is so easy to use. Its a marked improvement on the old dustbusters. Show details
Great product - can't fault it – We bought the 18v version and have been totally impressed with it. I love the rotating head with the tools built-in, which saves you having to use a whole bunch of detachable tools that can easily get lost, which is what happened with our last vac. The extendable crevice tool is nice and long - perfect for vacuuming the car. The dust is easily… Read more
emptied and the dust filter is pretty no-fuss and easy to clean too.
The suction is the best of any hand-held vac we've ever owned - it even gives our corded vac a run for its money, and I seriously recommend getting the 18v model for the extra power. Battery time is good, we just keep it charged regularly and it's ready to go. All in all, it's a serious winner. Not cheap, but definitely good value.

Major failure - What a short life! – This Dustbuster seemed like a handy size and worked well ... for a while. Then it just stopped. Ideally, you would like to wear these vacuum cleaners out from all of the good use that you get out of them. Changing the batteries shouldn't be such a big deal. Aren't we trying to reduce waste? Started out ok but gradually got worse – Worked OK for the first 2 years but then developed an issue with trapping the dust and dirt in the nose section, every time you close the nose after sucking up,all the dirt would fall out on the ground/ bench on top of the charge station as the anti reverse flap wore out, could also be a symptom of the battery wearing out and not sucking the dust… Read more
and dirt through properly. The battery run time stopped holding for long periods in the last year and is now down to about 30s peak before the motor starts dropping power. Given it was mid to top of the range product and price I expected more than 3 years life out of something that gets used once a day for less than a minute. Even my cheap $40 unit I use for work every day sucking up concrete dust and Gyprock has lasted better than that.
pivot 18v is not charging – We got pivot 18v vaccume cleaner and it works well for 18 months and used few times. We noted it was not charging. Where can i buy 27v charger? Or parts? Google it and still i could not find any. Seems like discontinued. Can you commetz where we can buy chargers? Show details

Do great job but last 1.5 year – I bought DustBuster pivot 18v on august,2016. It has been using much ( about once a week). The task for it was to vacuum my car, pick up hairs in my bathroom or dust in small and corner area. All jobs was done pretty well. Now the charger was not working at all yesterday (after 1.5 years) although I tried different electric power point. I have… Read more
tried a few time to log a complaint on Black& Decker website. It kept me waiting to go through process. It was not successful. Writing here, hopefully the manufacture will do something. It is still on warranty.
Vacuum great but charger keeps failing – I had a cordless hand held B&D vacuum cleaner for 20 years it was given to me as a 21st present and it was great. We bought a replacement finally 2 years ago and 18 months later the charger died, the vacuum still worked but the charger didn't. I phoned the customer service and they were very helpful and sent me another charger but 6 months later… Read more
this one died too and no one will even look at it to fix it, even though we were happy to pay for it ourselves. At $120 a pop, we shouldn't have to replace this every 2 years,, we would be better off buying a cheapie and throwing it out every year, what a waste !
Know why they are discontinuing this model – I bought one of these a week ago as I liked the one at work and wanted one for home. When I was using it at home it seemed like the air from the vent aiming out the bottom was blowing the dirt/hair away before the vacuum could get to it. I checked out the one at work today and its a slightly different design where the air blows out the back like… Read more
it should. Rang Godfreys to see if that had the other better design and they said no it was discontinued and in fact they are both discontinued and they are bringing out a new one. He said I could just pivot it around more. Which is bloody annoying and not real comfortable. Might just take it and get my money back
Too soon dead – Never really happy with the length of time vac held charge although worked well initially. Died completely after 9 months use. Unable to access warranty as it was a gift. Was willing to have it repaired as it was reasonably expensive for a car vacc but Black and Decker do not repair small vacs. Show details
Doesnt hold a charge – The suction is great, I loved using it! But it no longer recharges, and hasn't for over a year, I just havent asked about it before now. I would buy another if this wasnt normal. So many times things are made cheap for the toss and rebuy,.. I didnt even get a year use out of it. Show details

Worked well but short life battery – Initially very happy with the vac operation however in less than 2 years the battery wouldn't recharge much which meant only a minute or so of poor suction. Thought I had finally found a great dustbuster (I bought 2, 1 as a gift) but now disappointed. Thought I would get more than 2 years of use. Back to the drawing board. Show details
Very good at what it does – We wanted a simple dustbuster to deal with quick pickups around the house (we have a Ragdoll cat and a Spoodle, both of which track hair and dirt through the house like nobody's business!). My husband also wanted something that could be used to clean the car. The Black & Decker does exactly what it says on the label. We use it for everything from… Read more · 1
picking up cat litter that's escaped the laundry to cleaning out the runners on sliding windows and doors. It does a good job on the car mats and carpet and is gently enough to use on the leather couch without causing damage.
Good for the price. .Short battery life – I found this product great in all ways just the battery don't last long. Maybe 5mins so I start on slow speed and as it dies use fastest speed. Easy but dirty to clean and better than most others I tried. If only the battery would last 20 -30mins and charging was quicker would give it 100%

Excellent – I use this for a quick clean up and it excellent for that job. The lithium battery has actually never run out on me. Filters do need cleaning regularly but the suction is great of they are kept clean. This is not a full size vacuum cleaner so I would not clean the entire house with it. Also great for a quick car clean. Show reply
Chugged along for 3ish years – Ok, so the battery is just starting to die on this handy little guy. Been used daily since we bought it, cleaning small mess and doing the car etc. Cleaning it out every couple of weeks helped keep its suction. Never changed the filter, but was always careful cleaning it as it was fragile. Obviously a redundant model, but if I could get a replacement battery it would be worth keeping around. Show reply
not bad – just got it on clearance as model is being superseded. pivot head works well and decent suction. went for longer than previously owned dustbusters. doesn't take up much room to store/plug in. the only thing is the extending head on it when using directly down and pressue is put on it it tends to go back inside the product to it's original spot so… Read more · 1
that is annoying having to pull it out to get to hard to reach spots as you vacuum. otherwise no issues, would recommend if you can get it cheap.
not worth it – powerful vacum but it doesn't outweigh the cons cant find filters anywhere, even Godfreys say they have them in store only to find out that they have to order it in extremely noisy messy to empty, it has all these chambers etc to pull apart and cleaning the reusable filter doesn't really clean out that well I use the hand held Dyson at work it it is worth the extra money

Good Design But Bad Battery – Took this dustbuster because of ease of handling and operation. Good suction but battery stopped picking charge after four months. Returned and took a new one same model because I loved its design and ease of dusting with it but to my disappointment battery has stopped picking charge after 15 days. Vacuum area is not that large with small carpet… Read more

A lazarus dustbuster! – My dustbuster sat useless for over a year. I thought it was a waste of money until i was told and shown how to clean the filter! they really are a great little vacuum, the fact that it wasn't used but worked immediately is also proof of the quality of this product. I suspect all the one stars haven't cleaned their filters either. Unfortunately… Read more · 2
the accompanying pamphlet didn't mention filter cleaning.
2 YEARS LATER: still working beautifully - same strong suction. a mighty machine. I've discovered a small problem - its impossible to buy replacement filters for this item in Australia. Ultimately i bought a pack of 4 from Amazon online - $19US and $7US freight - very reasonable.

Great little portable vacuum cleaner – The Pivot Vac PHV1810 by Black and Decker is a handheld, battery powered vacuum cleaner. It has great suction for cleaning small, medium and large particles from our carpet. You can see how strong the suction is by the way it pulls the carpet fibers up as it cleans. I had always thought of these small machines as not much more than a toy and the… Read more
first one we bought (different make and less powerful) wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. The Black and Decker one is great.
Great little DustBuster, not too expensive – I was tossing up between this & the Dyson one but went with this due to cost. Does the job well & it's compact size is great for storage.
It sucks (in a nice way) ;-) – Pros: Good suction; pivoting head; easy to clean; comfortable to hold. Cons: Noisy; has an annoying blue light when charging.
Black & Decker Dustbuster Pivot PV1820L – Fantastic handheld little vacuum cleaner. A bit pricy but if you look at the quality you are getting it is well worth it. The motor is not as loud as some, spinning freely and for a while after it is switched off, which tells me it has a nice bearing. A little flap on the side to readily open up the dust chamber for cleaning. Buttons and their… Read more
functions are clearly stated so manual is total redundant. The whole front part (ie excluding motor) can be washed. When folded up, stands nicely in a small space and looks good (compared to the DV series in particular). No wheels at the front nozzle but also not painted like some others. Powerful, simple, cleans well and empties quickly. Easy cleaning. Single speed, short battery life.
2 years old and still works great! – I managed to pick up an extension wand for this model and use it a lot. I live between a motorway and and a railway station and the amount of dust that comes into the house is incredible so my Dustbuster gets a real workout. It is not meant for a major clean up but for spot jobs you can't go wrong. I have had it for about 2 years now and the… Read more
suction is still great and the battery life is more than adequate for my needs. portable, good suction, great for small jobs.
Worst purchase ever!!!!! – Useless!!!!!!!!!! Probably the worst product I have have ever ever purchased. There is basically nil suction . I have to physically open it each time i use it and push what little it has picked up through and around the barrel with a bamboo skewer. Needless to say it gets very little use. Battery life very very limited, very frustrating indeed.
Why not return it to the shop? The Sale of Goods act states that you can get your money back if the item doesn't do what it is supposed to do.
Great sucking power – I use this dustbuster alot, mainly to vacuum up after the kids especially in the car and around the kitchen. It has great suction for a dustbuster and the pivot function is great to get into hard to reach angles, like underneath the car seats and on top of dusty shelves. Cant really fault this dust buster as it does exactly what we want it to do. Battery life is great, suction is great, compact and easy to store away... Suction
One product I cannot live without! – I originay bought this to use in the car - the pull out nozzle makes vacuuming between seats and in those hard areas to reach a breeze! It has excellent suction for a small unit, so easy to empty and takes up minimal space. I have used this to clean out computer towers, its that good! I love the pivot action adnd the fact that it folds up (being… Read more · 1
pink is also a plus!). Reliable. Small. Easy to carry, empty and use. Pink! 2 years without a problem.A little on the expensive side, but its worth it.
Battery gets Dustbuster to dust! – It was really handy to use on the floor just after drying hair, grooming, etc. But, the battery runs out within 3-4 minutes and so we had to cast it away and replace with a new one :( The suction power was good and noise level was tollerable; useful attachments and charging station was nice to place in laundry. Low noise, handy, light Fast depleting battery.
Good – My first dustbuster – earlier opinion was that these are mostly gutless wonders, but this is the beez kneez. Gets a quick run for about 4-10 minutes most days on average, great suction, easy to slot back into its recharge stand, such a great thing to have on demand. This time of year we get the pesky influx of small moths, grab the dustbuster and… Read more
go hunting!! :D • great power – 18V
• folds up, vertical stand, takes minimal space
• easy easy easy to use none yet for what we need it for!
Works well... very handy – I've only had this product for a month but it's been great so far. Excellent suction (14.4 volt model), easy to use and empty. I can't say if the battery lasts longer than 15 mins as I don't use it for longer than that. I'm not sure why anyone would want to use a handheld vacuum for much longer than that. It does the whole car fine and is very… Read more · 3
useful for keeping the floor clean for my bub. I use it every day. good suction, easy to use, easy to empty, good value for money
Great Design Terrible Battery Lifespan – i really like this, and always support B&D products, but this time really disappointed.... cause you will never think about a products come out with this "very very poor" battery lifespan ... even B&D they also know .... how can they come out? ... battery need charge 10hour + but can only use 10-15mins ..... i so stupid did't ask about this just trust B&D branding ... Branding & Concept bad battery lifespan

Worst design ever, learnt my lesson again, never listen to a sales person – Sold to me as being the winner in a choice consumer test (unverified by me). I must explain that I had my mind set at a Dyson which I had at home and now had to buy a dust buster for work. I was solely going by the advise of the sales person and by the fact that they didn't sell Dyson, didn't check any of the features before buying, however the… Read more
small size when folded also made me buy it.
The dust container is positioned sideways, collected dust will continually move up and down like a mouse in a wheel. The space between the filter and the wall of the dust container is only small and bigger chunks get stuck. When emptying you need to either use like a spoon or a screwdriver to free those.
The filter housing has holes in it, suck up something like a staple or a paperclip and again it gets stuck.
Dust gets stuck between the flap that is supposed to close off the nozzle.
Anytime you fold or unfold the dust buster, dust or dirt will fall out, pretty annoying when you just sucked it up. The filter is absolutely hopeless in a way that you a. need to clean it regularly and b. you pretty much need another vacuum to suck all the dust out. It clogs up in no time.
Maybe the worst design flaw is that all the air outlet holes are on the bottom of the handle, anything you try to suck up first will be blown away turning the cleaning task in and cat and mouse game. I suggest anyone who seriously is thinking of buying one to take a hand full of confetti to the shop, throw it out on the floor and then get the sales guy/girl to suck it up. The battery as mentioned by the sales guy lasts longer then that of the Dyson (back then) but it surely looses power over time. eg. it will suck on full power for say the first 5 minutes and then will loose suction. The other thing I don't like about it, but can live with is that there is no wall mounting charging dock. Small when folded Poor poor design with all the results as mentioned above
It sounds like you bought it for commercial use and not what it was actually intended for.

The second vac is dying now. Lasted a little longer than the first. Looks like they have a 2 year life. Poor effort Black and Decker. Never again.
