Best dustbuster I've had. This one was bought from Godfreys when they still had shopfronts 2 or 3 years ago. The design is different to the usual dustbusters and works better. I had bought traditionally shaped dustbusters over the years but was always disappointed. This one, on the other hand, is a stick shape and has a good amount of suction power. I'm glad I bought this item.
I do not think that the above is my model, but everything else is discontinued. Black + Decker Beware of Contact and Support option as it comes up with I consent to the processing of personal data for direct marketing activities, for sending of commercial, promotional and advertising communications by the data controller. And there is option available. The only option to contact is by phone. I will no longer purchase any product by them.
My old Black+Decker WDA 315J finally needed to be replace after 6 years of use only due to the poor battery performance. I have now bought another Black+Decker DVJ320J as there was not much choice to buy any other dust buster. First issue was with the brush for tiled or wooden flooring. It comes off too easily when it just taps any piece of… Read more
furniture. Then you have to put the brush back on the right way, you cant put it on the wrong way. Next it does NOT come with a bracket to charge. No, some "bright spark" decided that this model cannot have a bracket, hence it must sit on my washing machine or on the window sill! Emptying out is another issue, compared to my last dust buster, again this "bright spark" decided that it must be a complicated event, where one has to work out the jig saw to fit the pieces in exactly.

High on ambition, low on performance – The Black & Decker Dustbuster DVJ320J is a very aesthetically pleasing hand-held vacuum cleaner. Designed with portability and maneuverability in mind, the manufacturer presents us with a very light-weight unit of a fairly decent built quality. It has a handy extendable telescopic nozzle, which is great for reaching those hard to reach places, … Read more
like between the seat and the center console in your car, or under the couch. The vacuum also has a non-detachable fold-out brush at the tip of the nozzle, which is very handy for when you need to dig in a little deeper into the carpet fibers while you're cleaning. The fact that brush is non-detachable is great, as it stays on the unit ready to be extended at any time, preventing you from losing it, as is often the case with vacuum cleaner attachments which often fall off and get lost when not in use.
Unfortunately, that is where the praise for this vacuum cleaner stops. Advertised at 15 minutes of use from a full charge, the weaker than expected suction on the unit simply does not allow the user to get the most out of the 15 minutes of power which this vacuum is capable of delivering. The inadequate suction power means that when coming across an upholstered surface, one has to go over it again and again in order to get the job done. And considering how much upholstered surfaces one comes across when cleaning a car, you can easily knock the advertised 15 minutes of use down to 5 to 7 minutes of actual thorough cleaning. And with a lengthy charging time of 5 hours before the battery is full again, one simply does not get much use out a full charge before having to plug it in again to charge.
To make matters worse, with average monthly use, the 15 minutes of charge form a full battery dwindled down to about 50% within the first 6 months of use, eventually failing to charge altogether at around the 11 month mark. After searching the web for replacement batteries for this unit, one will also find that the internal batteries are not removable and not replaceable for when the unit falls out of manufacturer warranty.
This vacuum cleaner would have benefited from a higher capacity battery at the cost of added weight and bulk. At least it would have then provided adequate suction and use time for real world applications, such as regular car vacuuming. Otherwise, I would imagine that it performs the task of vacuuming spilt cereal off a kitchen bench extremely well, as advertised in the product video on Black & Decker's website.

great toy! – this is a great and effective product for self sucking, also due to the suction there is no need for clean up afterwards, would recommend great product thanks Show details
Powerfull but run time is small – Only just got this little sucker and it does just that. It has a powerful suction but a small run time before it needs charging again. Capacity of dust bowl is small so it needs to be emptied often . Easy to use but needs a charging stand and longer lasting battery. Show details
nice bit of cleaning kit – lightweight and strong suction, great to clean up my dogs hair on the floorboards! Dont know why i didn't get one earlier, cant wait to use it in the car ! Show details
Negative reviews
I’d look elsewhere for a small handheld vacuum cleaner – Used probably 10 times and now the battery looks to be faulty as it won’t charge. Charging light just flashes but won’t charge and you can’t use it with it connected to the charger. Big disappointment. Show details
Black and Decker Dustbuster – I owned a Black and Decker Dustbuster for over 6 years and it was an excellent appliance. When it finally broke I had no hesitation in heading to the store to buy a new Dustbuster. Unfortunately this is one instance where the new model is inferior to the old model. I was surprised to find no charging base! Surely you use the vacuum for a minute or… Read more
2 then pop it back on the charging base. Also the older model was much easier to empty, I found the new model hard to click back together. The charging cable is fiddly to insert as it only fits one way, also its very thin, I doubt it will last. Very disappointed with this Black and Decker Dustbuster.
Good looking B&D 21.6Wh DustBuster doesn't have a charging base – Consistent with the rest of the Black & Decker DustBuster product line-up, the 21.6Wh DustBuster with so called compressed Li-ion battery is a good looking unit. Compared with my Makita 18V mobile vacuum cleaner, which is intended for tradies and perhaps for the garage / workshop, the Black & Decker unit looks beautiful with contrasty white and… Read more
grey colours, multiple textured finishes and patterned handgrip. In addition, it does have silicon / rubber seals and what looks like good quality plastics. Crevice tool and brush retracts into the main unit and folds away. No loose bits and pieces which is awesome. It does look like a real quality product.
The good Also known as the DVJ320JG-XE, it is more commonly known and marketed as 21.6Wh DustBuster. “Wh” is watt-hour which is a capacity measure of batteries (the larger the better). This is much more meaningful than voltage (V) many portable appliances are named after - 14.4V, 18V, 7V, etc which means little. I kind of prefer Ah which is amp-hour. After all, 10.8V x 2Ah = 21.6Wh. But I get it, 21.6Wh sounds like a much bigger number than 2Ah. Could have said 2000mAh, instead. Most batteries are known by Ah or mAh thus why I prefer Ah over Wh. Please comment if I am wrong. Thanks.
I really like the extensible tube (crevice tool) and brush. Not only they do work well, they provide great feedback and confidence while permanently restricting the size of the opening which improves suction. Press the depression near the tip to pull out the extension. When it reaches full length, it produces a clear click sound. Good feedback. Brush has a good spring loading feel. And like the crevice tool, provides a good feedback (click) when it is in position. This implementation is better than its bigger sister, the Pivot DustBuster.
The release button for the dust bowl is well implemented. It has a different colour (white on grey), large and intuitive. No manual is required for operating this unit.
Metal handle to pull out the filter unit and washable filter. No manual is required for maintaining this unit.
Quieter than the Black & Decker Pivot DustBuster. The Latter is so loud and high pitched, it is a cringe factor every time I use it. But thanks to it, I find the quieter, lower pitch sound of the 21.6Wh DustBuster much more pleasant.
Well priced. At RRP, the Black & Decker 21.6Wh DustBuster is about $110. At Bunnings, it goes for $66.75! This is cheaper than the Makita 18V mobile vacuum cleaner skin! Of course this comparison isn't fair because they are really designed for different purposes. For one thing, the Makita has much bigger capacity than the Black & Decker.
Lastly, I like the little door in the dust bowl. It has a real hinge rather than some rubber flap some manufacturers prefer. Rubber flap tends to harden and over time leaves a small permanent opening. With the Back & Decker 21.6Wh DustBuster, when the unit is pointing down, the door by its own weight closes the opening. Simple and effective.
The bad The capacity of this Black & Decker is tiny! It feels like it is designed to show off how cyclone works more than being a serious dust collector. I have a Dyson Outsize v11 which is 150% bigger than its siblings and predecessor. I also still have a good old wet and dry Vax Red version which is sports a bucket and large dust bag! This little baby provides little more than a tea cup size container once you take away the volume of the cyclone filter. Instead of dust bowl, I want to call it a dust tea cup.
I find this tiny size impractical. I am too OCD to let the battery run flat so I don’t know the actual battery life. Anyhow, advertised run time is 15mins. Given the tiny capacity, 15mins is plenty. However, whether that is sufficient for vacuuming a whole car I don't know. The on/off button doubles up with low / high power setting. But you have to cycle through off/-/+ and back to off is a bit off putting. I wonder how quickly fast mode will drain the battery.
No charger base. Charging base or dock is something that I have gotten used to and find really convenient. Li-ion likes to be topped up, thus charging base is ideal for it. Every time I am done vacuuming, I always dock my vac on the charging base. This is neat and keeps the battery topped up. This Black & Decker 21.6Wh DustBuster OTOH comes with a tiny lightweight charger with a tiny plug. I am a little worried if the tiny (propriety) plug or the flimsy cable would last. Why not a standard round port? I wonder given this implementation, would one plug in the charger only when the DustBuster runs flat? Note, fully discharged, it takes 5 hours to charge with the supplied 14v 400mA charger.
Another thing that concerns me is the position of the air outlet. Its bigger sister, the Pivot DustBuster's air outlet is at the back. This 21.6Wh DustBuster however, has it at lower right hand side. I feel the blow out when I use the unit and wonder if it would blow dust everywhere, especially if I try to use it flat rather than perpendicular against the surface being vacuumed. This is just a thought, no issue noted so far especially given the fairly long neck thus suction is at some distance from the air outlet.
Handgrip of the unit looks fantastic with the etched patterns. However, I don't find it providing better grip. IMHO, rubber grip on the inner side is much more effective. Anyway, absence of rubber grip means there is no possible rubber deterioration over time. If you want better grip, wrap some self amalgamating grip wrap over the handle.

OK while it lasted but now won't charge – When new this dustbuster was fit for purpose on floors - good suction and boost function is helpful. Used by elderly lady for minor and occasional spills so has not had a lot of use. Extension piece impossible for older person with arthritis to use. Will no longer charge which I now read is a problem a number of reviewers have experienced. Looks… Read more
like I also will be throwing my B&D dustbuster away as batteries are not replaceable. Won't buy another B&D dustbuster.
Never used a WORSE product – Exhaust fan blows directly onto whatever you're trying to vacuum scattering it everywhere. Tried using in car and it blew dust out every crevice in the vacuum. Suction completely useless. Show details
Not charging – I bought this and got it changes once and now again its playing up doe snot charge at all and runs fore few minutes after on all the time. Not happy with the product Show details

Gutsy little mean machine – I have had this little beauty for a few months now and it never fails to impress me. This was a replacement for an earlier B&D model which sadly died. However, this new Dustbuster has an impressive amount of power and a turbo charge which really ramps up its heavy cleaning ability. It is easy to charge with a battery indicator on the top of the… Read more
appliance. The power cord also plugs into the top of the Dustbuster which is an improvement on the earlier model. It feels like a good quality item and is not too heavy to hold. It is great for cleaning your car and I can clean the whole car without having to rush the job, because the battery lasts a long time before it's time for a recharge. The flip-down brush on the end is a versatile addition, as is the extendable nozzle. Cleaning out the filter and barrel is as easy as 1-2-3 and I really do reckon this is a winner for me :)
Fantastic Suction and light weight – Super suction for a very small and light handheld device. Has a nosal with a retractable brush attachment on the end which is very handy for fluff. It's very light to hold and battery lasts for hours. It works well on all surfaces, especially hard. Has a handy "boost" suction for that extra oomph which is very powerful. I can't believe it's such a… Read more
small light device but ultra effective. Bought the Black and decker Wet Dry Dustbuster and tried it once before returning it as the power suction was useless. very happy with this one.
Great for a while – This vacuum is a great option if you don't mind it lasting a year or so. Once the battery dies (which is sooner than you would expect) you will be faced with the sad fact that you can't replace the battery, nor run it whilst plugged into the charger. So.... you just have to throw the entire device away. Great investment! Show details
Every Day Cleaning Friend – This handheld Black & Decker Vacuum Cleaner is quite helpful for lighter cleaning, especially in the Kitchen area. There are few characteristics I particularly like: lightweight, low noise, dual speed and easy to clean bagless feature. In addition, this cleaner is colorful and very effective. It has a long-lasting lithium battery and comes with… Read more
a 2-year replacement warranty. My wife is a heavy user of this machine and very happy with its performance.
I bought this Cleaner from Harvey Norman, Thomastown Store for a discounted price and would like to highly recommend anyone who wants to by a handheld light vacuum cleaner.
Hopeless – Firstly it was quite expensive. It is just no good. A vacuum cleaner should suck up dust - that's all I ask! It has a really sad brush on the end, which is just useless. I was hoping to vacuum up dust on shelves, but it is hopeless. I'm not surprised it's discontinued. I returned it. Show details
Great suction for a small hand held – Was very shocked when first using this to clean the car. It's light weight and lasts just above an hour and takes a few to full charge. Which isn't very bad at all. The sucktion isn't perfect but it gets the job done and can also be used inside the house for small messes Show details
Excellent spot cleaner – We have an unfortunate combination: new carpet and young kids. Spill happen so we own this, Lets just say it gets used a lot! Its a classic dustbuster but pretty powerful as it has modern Lithium batteries. Its easy to whip out, way to empty. Gets the job dome very well indeed. Going 4 stars as it could be a little more ergonomic but overall very good. Show details
Good and easy to use – The machine is strong and easy to use. This is product is perfect for a quick clean.. Purchased from Harvey Norman. With the rechargeable lithium battery gives a great flexibility for this machine. Never regret to buy this. We use it to clean our car as well as small area in the house. Show details
Great for the first 2 years – I purchased in 2015 as my existing one died after approx. 7 years (brand unknown). It was more than I wanted to pay for a Dustbuster yet I figured it was a reputable brand so I did anyway as I just cannot be without one. I found the suction good & unit runs well albeit a bit noisy but I expected that as it was a more powerful unit than my last… Read more
one. Unit is easy to use, a good weight, looks good & recharges well. I use it regularly for small pickups & vacuuming the car. However, in the last 6 months I have noticed it no longer charges properly & runs for only about 15-20 secs before totally dying. I had hoped it would last at least 3 years for the $98 I paid. As I now need to purchase a new unit I am left wondering if I want to pay even more money for the same again.

Average – The suction is average. I thought by the price and the brand name that it would have much better suction strength. Easy to use and easy to dismantle, clean and reassemble. Recharging is easy but power lasting is also rather average. I did expect much better, but it is not too bad. Show details
Good – The machine is very strong. It is valuable product. All members in my family loves the product. We purchased from Harvey norman. The sale person advices us to purchase this item. Never regret to buy this. We use it to clean our car as well as small area in the house Show details
Unimpressed – Although I bought this item in 2015, it has only been used to do some light cleaning of two rugs from time to time. When I went to charge it up, the blue light didn't come on. I kept it connected to the power for some time however it failed to charge up. Obviously there is some problem with the battery or connection. I begrudge spending $100 on something that doesn't last and no doubt will become an addition to landfill! Show details
Powerful – Suction is strong, picks up just as well if not better than my normal large vacuum (Dyson) . I really like that the slim nozzle and brush attachments are all built in - this is such a great feature because when they come as loose attachments they tend to get lost and its a bother to get the attachments from the cupboard when you are midway through… Read more
a clean. its not too heavy, not extremely loud but it is quite high pitched which is a little bit of a shock whenever i start it up. charging is somewhat long (6 hours according to the manual) but i leave it overnight so not an issue for me.
Easy and convenient – I bought my Balck & Decker Cyclonic Action to quickly vacuum the car and started there and slowly moved on to other household things. I like that I can go from mess to mess free in a flash, The only thing that I don't like is that the battery needs to be charged for a long time. I basically charge all the time when not being used and thin that it is not very friendly to our electricity bill. Show details
Excellent – This replaced my old B&D hand held vacuum which I must have had for over 15 years. No problems other than obviously the battery was weak after all that time. This new one is a joy. Powerful suction & the unique ability to bend the snout makes it much easier to use. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Show details
Staple in our home – I have an active toddler who makes a mess practically all day and this hand vacuum has kept me sane! I'm happy with the suction and it's light enough to move around. I use it anywhere - our timber floors, couch, dining chairs, car, bathroom, anywhere! Only thing I would change is the expandable brush because after a few months of use, it became loose and kept falling off. Show details
Dustbuster doesn't disappoint – The Black & Decker Dustbuster never disappoints. I have had a few Dustbusters over the years. cleaned floorboards, carpet surfaces and dusty tables with this product and overall it has fufiled its purpose. 7/10
Powerful – I found this to be the best value for money and it comes with 2 years warranty which was important to me as I've had others in the past fail after a year. Apart from being a little noisy, it has great suction and is light to hold. Although it didn't come with a charge stand, charging the unit is pretty quick after using it for 5 mins or so. Great, perfect for spot vacuuming – Great little vac that looks after the times in between big vacs. I've used for back of cupboards, carpets, rugs, car seats, kitchen floors and sofa. Great for little bits and bobs. It doesnt stay on for much longer than 10mins but quick cleans don't usually need much time anyway. Show details
If you don't like yours, read the instructions – Great cordless vacuum cleaner. Goes hard for ten minutes. Use to have an older version. This one is like comparing a Tesla model S to a golf cart. Faulty... again! – I purchased a Black & Decker Dustbuster (DV1610-XE) in February 2015. Within 12-months it had stopped charging and I was given a replacement in February of this year.
