fantastic sound and portability, has outlasted 2 ipods – We bought ours from a bose shop when they were still around 6 or 8 years ago. It comes everywhere with us ,overseas ,where ever. Has never let us down . Still sounds amazing and battery life is still quite good.Gets used at home fairly regularly. No complaints. Couldn't be happier. It's always the first thing I pack when we travel..  Show details

Bose SoundDock II – Love the sound but the power cord adaptor fitment to rear of speaker was always from new flimsy and now broken after 2 1/2 years. Oh well just order another from Bose at $66 +$5 to ship...poor show from a quality speaker company. The local store in Perth was not helpful and very happy to say ring Sydney.  Show details

Good sound; bad build quality – I've had this for several years. The sound is really great. But the dock adapter is flimsy and became loose fairly quickly. Even worse was the power plug, which began playing up almost immediately - it doesn't sit in the socket at the back of the unit properly, causing it to beep until you wiggle it into place. This happened despite the fact that… Read more

I only occasionally unplug it. Another annoying design flaw is that it has no power indicator, so you never know when it is on. For example, if you forget to switch it off after taking a phone call, you'll never know it's on till you plug some thing in and the speaker pops loudly or blasts music out. It has no auto power off, so the unit just sits there sucking power. Finally, although the remote works well overall, you have to repeatedly press the volume keys to get any noticeable change in sound level. I've noticed that on all our other remotes, pressing the volume keys even once produces a noticeable change, whereas with the bose remote it would be at least 5 times before you can actually notice any difference. For such an expensive ($450) piece of equipment from a so-called high-end maker of audio equipment, I expected a much smoother user experience and certainly a better level of quality. Accordingly, I wouldn't recommend this product.

Decent Sound Quality and unobtrusiveness – The Bose Sound Dock has a simplistic design and is just as simple to use. You plug in your ipod or iPhone and start the music. It produces a full sound due to the electronic enhancement to get more performance out of the small speakers. You always get a rich sound because the system tries to emulate the human hearing curve. The sound dock can… Read more

get very loud, however compression will set in as the bass is limited so as to not overload the speakers. This loud ability may be better suited to amplifying soft music or input sources. While not suited for parties, there is still a reasonable volume before the compression becomes noticeable.

Some people may complain about the power brick. While it may be hard to hide for some, it also allows the dock to be smaller and free of interference from the power supply which would otherwise be inside the dock itself.

New, the Bose system doesn't present great value for money as it really only plays music from an input source and charges apple products. For some people, this is all they need. For others, more features such as an alarm clock, radio, Ipod controls, bass and treble controls, and visual display would be welcome.

Second hand, you may get excellent value depending on the price of you just want a simple sound dock with good performance.

4 stars for good sound and simplicity that works. Minus one star for value and lack of some features that would be useful to many people.

Name does not mean QUALITY! – I bought my Bose sound dock based on reviews and also heard it at an apple store. I have had it for the past 4 years, using it off and on, mostly not using it since it needs to be plugged in to use it. Well after not using it for a while, I renovated my office and had the perfect spot for it and to my extreme disappointment, it did not work. How… Read more

can a unit with the name BOSE on it, just stop working with hardly any use? I researched online and it seems this is a known issue and Bose instead of doing the right thing and fixing this defective product/this known issue, they want to charge their customers to fix it. I called Bose and they want me to pay over $100.00 to fix their known issue! NOT FAIR and because of this treatment, I will not be buying a Bose product any time soon. Bose, you just damaged your reputation! Shame on you!

Bose - disappointing! – Paid $450 for a docking station. Unit developed an internal wiring fault shortly after purchase - couldn't get it to work. Bought a Sony - still works! Seems other less notable brand units are more reliable. No more Bose for me - over priced, sub standard quality. Bad investment it seems.

Not user friendly – Had this thing for about 6 years now. Issues encountered to date: 1. The phone holder is flimsy, the connection pins weaken over time and wont charge the unit, make it out of metal Bose, cheapskates. 2. The charge cable connection on the inside of unit is intermittent, quality issue again. 3. The plug is a design joke, seriously, who wants a plug… Read more

that big? Useless.

This thing has been built to a price and marketed on the back of the Bose brand- Which wont be bought by me again. Some electronic trickery on sound control that people think is amazing wont substitute for poor quality and design.

Bose soundDock – We purchased approximately 4 years ago, and has been used occasionally not more than 10 times. We attempted to use the unit ,and static noise was what we got.So l located the nearest service centre which was in Perth,Albrand Electronics Authorised service centre for Bose, l sent it to them advising that we did not want to spend over a certain $… Read more

value. We received an email response back over the stated amount. So l declined the offer to repair and asked for the unit to returned.I was then advised of a Service fee of $80.00 + postage to get the unit back.None of the agents terms and conditions mentioned this previously. So l complained to Bose- re lack of customer service and misleading term of trade. The reply l received back was disappointing from Bose , they offered a discount on another unit, which was still more than the cost of the repair. The question i asked the manager from Bose was if the client is not happy with the longevity of their product to start with. why would the client spend more $ with Bose on the same product. No response.

After our experience we wont be buying Bose products again. Good paper weight dosent last

OMG- OMG- Wow!!! I never believed the reviews – I have read the reviews about this item, I did my homework and found some great deals online- But I wanted to hear it first, before I parted with my cash... I even contacted ebayers to find out what they thought of the item- they could not be happier. I could not find anywhere that sold one in regional Queensland until I found an Apple Shop. … Read more

Well OMG, the sound is amazing, you would not believe that a little thing like that would produce such a powerful and clear sound. I compared it with the larger Bose Sounddock 10 which has a much better bass, but value for money this has it hands down. I even went back to other shops and listened to all available brands with my Ipod Touch 4 Gen and all sounded second rate. I purchased one and bought it home and even my Hubby cannot believe the sound quality. I would most certainly recommend it to anyone. However if you like functions like treble, bass, etc... you wont find it, but I do not believe that is a problems as the sound quality is fantastic. Sound quality- fantastic and certainly blows you away. It is sleek, stylish and foolproof. Nothing, remote has limited functions but nothing to complain about..

"All the bass and sound can't be coming from that thing?!?!" – The Bose SoundDock Portable Digital Music System is a amazing little speaker that offers some of the riches and deepest sound of all ipod docks on the market. Bose isn't a cheap product and the initial outlay does soon seem to become worth it. This dock is fully portable and has good range with its simple remote. Battery is good and for the past 2… Read more

years i have owned it, i have only noticed a small decrease in the battery life. The compatibility with the apple range is great as too is the AUX port in the back accepting a 3.5mm headphone jack however features like a clock and a fm radio would be a nice addition considering the price. This product is must for the outdoors entertainer as it can be taken anywhere and no matter wether its cranked up or kept on quiet, you will enjoy the bass and area-filling sound quality. loud, great sound quality, portable, remote needs a shuffle button, expensive, no FM radio, no screen

Sound is amazing – My mum bought one of these, as we lived in a large rental property and liked to carry it around, even outside. Yes, it is an expensive unit... I think we paid around $500, but in my opinion well worth the cost if you use this kind of device regularly. The sound, what can I say? It's perfect! Turn it up as loud as you want, it still sounds… Read more

great... And so it should. Love the way the dock can be hidden, great idea. Battery life is also a winner. Sound is fantastic, looks sleek, easy to use Quite expensive, can be awkward to carry and due to design their might be a risk of damaging the speakers at the front, be careful of this.

Great looker! – Very happy with this great looking docking station from Bose. Love that it's portable & the battery life is truly great. The sound is excellent. I wish the remote control had more functionality though as it's only minimal. It's look - one of the best looking docking stations on the market! Great sound. Long battery life when used as portable. Quite expensive compared to others. Mini remote has limited functions.

Good sound but for that price I'd expect it to last more than 18 months – When I first bought this 18 months ago I was very pleased with the sound quality, but in the last 6 months I've a few issues with this product which have left my disappointed. The issue is that it doesn't play even though the iPod gets charged. Around 3 months ago I swapped out the power cable and this solved the problem for a while, but recently… Read more

the same issue has re-occurred. For the price I paid I would have expected it to last longer than 18 months and I really don't want to be buying new power cables every 3 months. Sound Expensive, unreliable

Portable Bose Sound dock – We were delighted to win this fantastic sound system a couple of years ago in a wine competition and have found it so useful both indoor and outdoors. We've even used it on camping trips, picnics and lazy summer dinners on the back deck. The fantastic sound, portability, battery life and re-charging facility for the iPhone makes this an all round… Read more

perfect sound system. We use it a lot to listen to not only our own downloaded music, but also for listening to the thousands of radio stations on the TuneIn Radio app! Awesome! Fantastic sound, portability, simply classy styling, long battery life, fast charging of iPhone and light enough to carry around. Quite expensive to buy, but worth every cent!

Best sound from portable iPhone sound dock. Love it – Sound, volume and styling is exceptional from a portable speaker of this size. Battery life is great when out and about. Remote small, simple and just simply works a treat. The sound quality is great – yes, it is more expensive than many products out there from Hardly Normal and WOWser but you won’t get the volume and quality of sound that… Read more

the Bose SoundDock II provides. You could buy two or three cheaper other brand units for the price and you still won’t get the volume and clarity to match the Bose from all three cheap’os combined… get my drift. If you can afford it don’t go for anything less. PSU is quite big and bulky – don’t expect to plug it into the mains with other devices as the PSU is a large square box covers the spare outlet on a twin power socket (GPO). It is also quite thick as it integrates the chord storage which wraps around and inside the PSU – this is something to keep in mind if you plan on sing the GPO behind a desk, bench or stand that is pushed up against a wall…

Great sound – The Bose Sounddock Portable is a great product. I bought this product to use as a speaker for outside for entertaining instead of taking out my dj set up each time. I was looking at just getting a mini or a micro hifi to use out the back but decided to go with this as it opens up the possibility with the portability of the unit and the sound… Read more

quality that it produces from the battery. There does not seem to be a different from it being plugged in or run off the battery. I have found that the battery life lasts for around 5 - 8 hours on reasonable volume. I would say about 3-4 at full volume.

The remote is a good touch but on the newer iPod/ iPhone models the functions may be limited to pause, play, and volume. It seems as if the playlist up and down and back and next may not work. Ive tested it with my iPod touch 2g and iPhone 3GS and all functions work on iPod but iPhone may be a little temperamental. If you lose the remote then you can only control by iPod/ iphone and volume on the side

The dock does not have any adjustable treble or bass but the iPod/ IPhone seems to handle this so you can change with the equalizer but I haven't found the need as the speaker seems to replicate the sound pretty well. Also as weird as it may sound if you want decent bass from the speaker then either put it on the floor or up near a wall and hear the difference it makes

The Sounddock Portable is an expensive unit but the sound and the actual function of it is worth the price. I would consider looking at getting an additional battery and maybe the car charger if you wish to use this product camping or use it outdoors alot to ensure you never lose power and prepared for all situations. You may want to look around as the price of the battery is Australia is fairly steep

I would suggest this dock for someone that wants an iPod dock that has the added benefit to actually have more uses then just around the home. The price is a little steep but it is work it and you can always search other avenues to get it for cheaper.

You can't go wrong with Bose!!! Nice size, great sound, perfect to have as a portable iPod dock, great battery life, possibility to have back up battery Costly, battery takes some time to charge from flat, if remote is lost apple product is the control

Excellent – Really happy with the product. Music sounds great and the set-up is simple. The remote is also very handy. Is reasonably expensive but well worth the money. Fantastic sound. Portable and able to run off batteries. Comes with a remote. Looks great too. Doesn't seem to have bass/treble adjustments, though these seem pretty good.A little pricey, but you expect that with Bose.

Excellent – This is an excellent quality product. I love the fact that it is so simple and stylish. It looks great and sounds fantastic. Sure, it doesn't have all the adjustments that you would expect on a conventional stereo system but to be honest it doesn't seem to need them. Excellent sound quality, simple, stylish. Expensive - but worth it!

Excellent – I have had sound dock for over a year now and has been my main portable boom box. For the size the sound dock makes a lot of noise. I find it very slick and suits any room in the house especially near the pool. The Bose sound dock is a very capable little speaker. Exceptional sound quality. Booming base and crisp sharp sound reproduction. Build… Read more

Excellent – One of the best "luxury" buys I've made. Have not been disappointed. The price seemed excessive and I got an earful from the missus, but at the time there were few quality choices around. It's not truly a "portable" sound system, you wouldn't want to leave it outside, but the convenience of moving it from room to room as needed without taking… Read more

the power cable is well worth it. Where to start? The sound quality, the visual design, the sound quality, the fact that it's got an rechargeable battery and did I mention the sound quality? The tray that holds the iPod seems a little flimsy...very minor point
