Easy die product – This product died in 5 months. I've never used such a short life kitchen appliance before. RIP. They battery just died out suddenly and all the function black out totally. I tried to submit the online support case, but no one response. Show details
Defective power button – The steamer died when power button became not responsive. Warranty is over. It seemed that this power button has been the core issue of Breville steamer from user's review and many users encountered similar problem after short use of the device. It gives consumers very little confidence by this brand in its other product too. Such basic appliance should be quite durable in kitchen. Show details
Drip tray overflows quickly – I just bought this today as my first electric food steamer and I am very disappointed and will be returning. The reservoir requires near constant water refill, but the drip tray fills up and overflows frequently. Tried to steam some chicken and broccoli and had to empty the drip tray 4 times. Was neither quick nor convenient. Show details
Stop Working After One And Half Years – The power button is no longer responsive. It is annoying as it is just beyond the warranty and the repairing cost seems to be much higher than buying a new one. Very disappointed as a Breville fan. Presumably the old style steamer with manual button is a better choice. Update: Myer's handling is very nice, the staff just replaced it with a new one.
Disappointing – Got one as a birthday present to replace another brand which was old but still worked better than the new breville. Steamer- This is a dud Think carefully before you consider buying this as Iwould have to say this this steamer just did not comeup to my expectations Sorry Breville. Slow to start steaming. Complicated timer mechanism. Uses a lot of water needs refills.
Terrible – This steamer was a replacement for my much loved Tefal which died suddenly after nearly 4 years of service. I was so unhappy with this Breville creation, I don't know where to start! To begin, it's made of PC which is known to release BPA when heated. It's ironic really that an appliance meant to help prepare healthy food makes this very food… Read more
dangerous to consume.
Whoever designed this steamer must have never used one themselves as it is hard to imagine anything less convenient. It has three baskets, which are numbered as |, ||, ||| on the side handles. The baskets can be put inside each other for storage, which is great and is a pretty much standard feature in most steamers. However, the drip tray is designed to only hold the basket number 1 (the smallest one). This makes storing the baskets on the base impossible as the largest basket (#3) doesn't fit on the drip tray. This same design flaw also becomes a problem when cooking because you always have to have the smallest of the three baskets on the bottom (sitting directly on the drip tray). Swapping the baskets is impossible. Instead, you'd have to actually take the food out of one basket and place it into another. This creates a lot of mess.
The steamer has a preset timer, set to 20 minutes. Because of the electronic controls, to adjust the cooking time you'd need to press the corresponding button (either hour or minute) a certain number of times. Say, for example, you wanted to cook something for 15 mins. Having the times preset to 20 mins means you'll need to press the minute button 55 times! And every single one of them will produce a very loud and annoying beep!
Finally, the steamer seems to run out of water very quickly and starts making an extremely loud noise, which is worse that a fire alarm. I believe it's supposed to stop once you add more water, but mine just carried on with the siren even when more water was added. I had to switch it off and restart, adjusting the cooking time again (refer to beeping sound when adjusting cooking time above).
I'm so glad I was able to return this steamer to the store I purchased it from. This has completely destroyed whatever little faith I had in Breville products. Never again, and would certainly let all my friends know not to ever get one of these. It's stylish and looks much more sophisticated than most other steamers Everything is wrong with it - from the plastic it's made of to the very annoying and loud noises it makes.
Best kitchen utensil ever! – Having only recently acquired my Breville Avance HealthSmart steamer, I have not used it extensively, yet, but what I have cooked (or steamed) tasted absolutely great! Have done vegies and rice and absolutely love the fresh taste you have - especially with the vegetables. Still have to try doing fish and other interesting goodies! Had a bargain… Read more
- they were on special and I specifically wanted the Breville. I like the brand! The alarm that goes off when you run out of water during the steam process can NOT be ignored - excellent reminder!
