This one requires the user to have continuous psychiatric treatment – Simply driving me crazy as it wants the cartridge removed and replaced about every second print. But there is NO JAM

Another printer for hard waste – Purchased this as I was sick of inkjet printer cartridges drying out. (I don't print often) What a mistake. Worked for a while then stopped, re-set it, and again it worked for a while, re-set it and again it worked for a while. If you are looking for a black and white printer that you have to set up EVERYTIME you want to print something look no further. On the bright side, at this rate the ink should last forever. Show details

DO NOT BUY – I have purchased a Brother HL-L2305W printer. this is my 3rd Brother printer and up until now i have never needed help setting it up. well that was until now. after going to the webb site and doing everything requested it didnt work. so you would think that there would be a service person you could call. well maybe there is but it will take… Read more

numerous emails and even then i sit here still waiting for someone to call, the after sales service is POOR at best. Great if no problems, poor if there are issues.

Don't Discontinue – The house is full of failed printers. This is the first one that has lasted and that continues to produce perfect output after several years hard use. Please don't discontinue it - or at least tell me what you have replaced it with.

Prints well...when it can connect! – I've had this printer for about 12 months and am just fed up with the hassle of having to reconnect it. When it is printing, it prints well. However, i don't print daily and find if i go to print after a week or so, it is hit and miss if it will work. Typically my pc(s) will say there is an error. To resolve this i have to disconnect the… Read more

printer from my pc and then reconnect it. This was frustrating, but i coped with it. However, now the printer has disconnected from the wi-fi and won't reconnect. I'm sure if i spend some time i can get it to connect again, but a printer shouldn't give anyone this much hassle just to use it.' Others seem to have connection issues too. Good luck if you buy one of these.

I loved this printer until it stopped connecting with WiFi – I purchased this printer in February 2021. I was able to follow the instructions and easily set it up. The printer worked perfectly remotely via WiFi. I was really happy with it. Recently, when I was printing the paper ran out. When I filled in the paper tray and wanted to restart, it would not connect to WiFi. I have tried my best to get it… Read more

connected to WiFi, but it does not connect. I got in touch with Brother and the technician tried to assist, but still I could not restart it. Regrettably, as it is still within warranty I have to return it. I wrote this review yesterday, and today I wanted to give one last try before returning. With the assistance of a Brother Technician, I was able to reconnect to the WiFi. Here is a very useful video link that was sent to me by Brother https://youtu.be/qkIuDuTL9kg

Reliable printer! – A great printer for the home office printing crisp clean fonts. The wifi connectivity is great once you manage to get your long wifi password in - hint, don't keep the OK button pressed for too long or it will clear the password hence start over again. I am using 2 Brothers since 3 years and it never failed.  Show details

Easy set up and basic document printing – I'm like the reviewer below and purchased the printer from Officeworks for $118. I only print paper postage labels for online sales and occasionally print documents. I wanted a reliable, low cost, black and white printer with wireless option, and with reasonably priced replacement toner cartridges. I was replacing a reliable 11 year old Brother… Read more

mono printer, so decided to stick with Brother, read the online reviews and the HL-L2305W ticked all the boxes. I have basic tech abilities but can follow instructions, and found this easy to set up on my MacBook Air. It has a 'Quick set up guide' with illustrations, and a set-up CD. My Mac doesn't have a CD slot, so I used the online link for Mac (and there's one for Windows) and just followed the prompts, including connection to my wireless network. The set up was hassle free - SIGH OF RELIEF. I did a trial print and it worked perfectly first time, so I tried different types of documents - PDF, Pages, Preview, and an Australia Post label with bar code - all no worries, nice crisp and clear prints. This printer comes with a 'starter' cartridge in the box, which should do up to 700 pages. I checked online and you can buy replacement toner TN-2330, up to 1,200 pages for $79 , or TN-2350 up to 2,600 pages for $134. (Info from Brother on Officeworks website.) I highly recommend the HL-L2305W if you've got basic printing needs and prefer a wireless option. UPDATE: I've been using the printer for two months and it's been great. Turn it on, print a label from anywhere in the house, even from my iPhone, no special apps required. I've also found the design of this is easy to keep clean as it's essentially a box, so no fiddly bits that catch dust. I'm really happy with this purchase!

Less is sometimes more! – I purchased this printer from Officeworks for $118 because I wanted just a black and white, wireless option with good quality print. I also only need to print occasionally in a home office. This printer delivers on all fronts: *Not too large for my study/office nook *Surprising good quality print *Super easy set up on my Mac *Wireless means no… Read more

cable to my device and access all over the house *Appealing simple design with print out tray enclosed. Looks tidy. *Reasonably fast print after the initial wi-fi connection takes a few seconds

This was a recommendation from a family member who has been satisfied with its performance one for several years.

Horrendous. Poor quality print. Needs constant cartridges. Expensive to run for bad print quality – Horrendous. VERY Poor quality print. Needs constant cartridges. Worst printer I've ever owned – Sometimes enters deep sleep and will not leave deep sleep. Deep sleep mode cannot be turned off from the normal menu options. You need to find a secret menu option by holding "down arrow" and "cancel" at the same time. Sometimes leaves my wifi network randomly (1-2 months). When this happens it will not automatically reconnect. Every time I need… Read more

to re-enter my wifi password. This would not be an issue except that entering the wifi password is a mammoth task. You need to scroll through the alphabet using the up/down keys for every single character.

I have not had this many issues with a printer since the early 2000s. Ancient technology.

pretty good – Overall decent. Had it for a few months now. Only downsides are: You may have to manually enter in your wifi password for it to connect to your network. It does not automatically print double sided. To do that you have to print 'odd-side only' and then use that paper to print 'even-side' only. Show details

Goodluck setting it up with a long WiFI password – If you're security conscious then you have a strong WiFI password. Well, good luck connecting this printer to your network. There's no easy WiFI hotspot setup, it's actually a million times easier to connect a generic Chinese lightbulb to your network. This thing requires you to input each character of the password using 2 buttons, so you have… Read more

to scroll through every SINGLE character, one by one, that means every lower case, every upper case, every symbol until you find your character. I gave up and returned it as I simply can't support a company that makes such a craphouse interface.

I tried the USB WI-Fi setup tool, it failed, tried numerous work arounds, ended up spending 2 nights trying to get it to connect cos I CBF'd spending an hour punching in a WIFI password.

TLDR. Took it back, bought the basic HP monolaser from officeworks instead, connected to WIFI in 5 minutes, not 2 nights.

Rubbish – I bought this one for home, but it's a waste of money it's impossible to connect and use it with wifi. It's really expensive for what it is, a concentration of technology from 1995. Show details

Excellant Mono Printer, have been using them for over 10 years – Brother is an exceptional brand and I have only ever bought the mono printer, this time I purchased the wifi one and very happy with how easy it was to set up and I am able to print using my ipad or iphone. Quality is very good for a mono printer, just had to download an ap from the Apple App Store (free) Air Print and works very well. Show details

Fast and easy to print over wifi – I bought this printer after getting frustrated with my samsung printer which stopped printing over wifi soon after purchase and I always needed to use the cord. This was often buggy. So I bought this cheaper printer black and white for quick printing needs. It has been super easy to use and the app is not buggy like my other printer. I would… Read more

recommend this as a good cheap printer. The print quality is okay. Not premium quality but that's ok for me.

Unreliable in the extreme – Brand new item, purchased from Officeworks. Tenuous and intermittent connection to WiFi. Purchased the printer to use for work, have spent hours attempting to get it to print, which it's done on the odd occasion. Want to repeatedly put in your WiFi password using only up and down buttons? Buy this printer. Show details

Pretty good but – I am reviewing Brother mono laser printer HL-L2305W. It has been 2 months since purchase. Everything works well. It prints font 8 Times New Roman more sharply than any inkjets I have used before (namely Canon, Epson and HP). Very consistent prints. Has a good selection of Printing Preference such as Graphics vs Text vs Manual, print resolution… Read more

300dpi, 600dpi, 1200dpi, paper size selection etc. which is great but considering it to be a black and white printer, I find the Graphics option rather redundant. Some online reviews have praised the Double-sided feature in this printer but to me, it's been quite disappointing. I have to (1) wait for the 1st page to the printed (2) MANUALLY feed the paper back into the manual tray (3) Press the OK button for it to print the 2nd page (4) repeat step 1 to 3 for the subsequent pages to be printed... ONE SHEET AT A TIME! None of my previous printers did this to me. This is definitely a draw back for me as I tend to print double-sided a lot. I will seriously consider purchasing a better featured printer should I need a new printer in the future.

Much better with wifi and better price to last – Had enough old brother inject printer of 10 years always run-out of lnk average 20 pages depends on context print and bleed mess. This Brother HL-L2305W much better for just black printing and last for long time to run out of Tone Black. The Drum last up-to 12,000 pages and Two Types of Toner is 1,200 pages or 1,600 pages depends how much print black context . My average printing about 60 pages a year. Show details

The best printer I have ever owned – Crisp clear prints, extremely quick printing for a household machine. Love the double sided feature, as it saves so much paper. Toner is super affordable and lasts great. So easy to connect to wifi and use Apple air print etc. Do not waste your money on another “cheap” inkjet printers that cost hundreds in wasteful ink cartridges. Show details

a cheap fast reliable printer – I use this in my farm office and require a cheap fast printing non-colour printer. And this printer does everything I would like. It prints fast enough for me. It is not too noisy. It also quietens after a few seconds. I had the predecessor, the 2130 and it would keep humming for several minutes after the printing was finished which was… Read more

annoying but this one doesn't do that.

I get my generic cartridges online for ~$15 each and I can't see any difference to the branded ones.

I don't really keep a track of how many pages I print per year, but estimate it would be more than a box (5 x 500 page reams). The cartridges seem to last about three months.

You can print both sides, but that is cumbersome and not automatic.

I thought the idea of setting up the wireless might have been daunting, but I followed the instructions and it was pain free.

I have found this printer and the older model to be super reliable. I would hate to think how many pages the old one printed and it was only the annoying humming that encouraged me to get the newer model.

So Good, we Just love it – We had an old Brother laser printer and when it finally died we decided to stay with the brand and are so pleased we did. This printer is so good, it works really well. The wireless feature is fantastic and so quick. We don't usually review something until we've had it for 12 months or so to give it a good work out but we have used this printer… Read more

Easy setup, quick no-nonsense printer – Easy setup, wireless works no issues. This printer was quick to unbox and get working. The screen, while small was simple to use and make the necessary changes. It seems to be quite energy efficient as well. .5W in sleep mode is impressive. When you send a job, it's only about 15 seconds before it starts printing. Jobs are completed in no… Read more

time with quick print speeds.

Another thing I like about this printer is that you can choose your toner capacity to suit your print requirements. The drum is also individually replaceable when the time comes. This helps reduce the cost of toner.

I would buy this product again.
