Brother HL-L2365DW

Fast and fully-featured but poor image / graphics quality – Purchased this printer three and a half years ago. So far it has performed very reliably. The features are great - including duplex (double-sided) printing and Wifi. It's particularly handy to be able to print from an Android phone. Set up was fairly easy and the stand-by power is extremely low. The only downside to this device is the very poor… Read more
image quality. Text quality is fine, however when printing images or graphics the quality is very low, with streaks appearing, even on the smallest image. Given how good the printer is otherwise - its graphics printing quality is surprisingly poor. This is not a deal-breaker for most of our usage, however results in a loss of quality if printing out documents to be re-scanned. Overall a good paper / power saving device for printing text documents.
Almost impossible to get working – A nightmare to set up. The instructions are on a CD and you have to print them off. Problem is, the printer does not work. Went to the shop I bought it from. They gave me a phone number for Brother support. Got the Telecom message that the number is not in use. Went to the Brother site. Had to sign in with a mobile phone number, not my land line.… Read more
So no help from Brother. Paid a local geek to set it up. He said the CD supplied was years out of date. Cost me more to get it working than it cost.
Doesn't print double sided on A5 and broke after 5 months – I got this printer from Officeworks. Worked well for about 5 months, then got a paper jam and stopped printing. I got a new one under warranty and the replacement is working fine for now. What annoys me most about this printer is that doesn't print double sided on A5 paper. It was clearly advertised as being capable of "2 sided printing". However… Read more
after spending ages trying to get it to print double sided on A5 paper I finally contacted Brother, and they advised that the printer only prints double sided on A4 paper. I really feel like this should be more clearly stated.
Great value for money – A ripper of a little laser. I have had this for over a year and I find it very reliable and economical to run. A little temperamental on manual feed of cards however. I wish it had some kind of collection tray or something for when you feed media straight through though. If it sits close to the edge of the table, anything you feed through falls on the floor. Otherwise a great laser printer which is excellent value for money. Show details
Perfect for people with very big houses – I loved the Brother HL-L2365DW printer for the first two months I had it. It prints fast and the output is very clear. Its double-sided printing is truly magnificent. Like many people concerned with waste, I print on the reverse side of used, unfolded paper when the output is for my use only, and I haven't yet experienced any paper jams. The… Read more
printer has quite a small footprint so it doesn't take up a lot of desk space. That was one of my most important criteria when choosing a mono printer. My desk is a large ex-office desk, 1685mm wide by 855mm deep, and it also has to accommodate a large A3 printer and a scanner. The A3 printer is 615mm wide. None of these items fit under the monitor but I just managed to squeeze them all in.
Until I decided to print an envelope.
To print an envelope I have to be able to access both the front and the back of the Brother HL-L2365DW printer. I tried using a mirror to see the back but it was too difficult.
I decided that I had two options: 1. buy a bigger house so I can have a huge study with space all around the desk so that I can access the back of the printer; or 2. position the printer sideways with the back on the left and the front on the right. I need space behind the printer (ie on the left) to open up the manual feed door, and I need space in front of the printer (ie on the right) to fill the paper tray. Clearly Option 2 was rather a lot less expensive than Option 1. However the end result is that the compact Brother HL-L2365DW printer, which is only 355mm wide, occupies 730mm of the width of my desk. This is more than the width of my huge A3 printer. Effectively the Brother printer occupies half the width of my desk and the A3 printer occupies the other half. I've put the scanner on top of the A3 printer which means I'll have to move it every time I need to open the top, eg to replace an ink cartridge.
I'm planning to put the printer on a manual lazy susan, if I can find one of the right size, so I can rotate the printer more easily whenever I need to use the manual feed. This won't create enough space for the scanner.
Printer manufacturers should provide a clear indication of the space likely to be required by all printers. Consumers need this information before they make their purchase, especially when they are buying a compact printer.
works well overall but is a bit noisy – The print quality of this printer (it only prints in mono black and white) is quite good for a standard budget model, lazer printer. It prints quicky, although it can be rather noisy on large print jobs. I have my priner permanently plugged into my laptop via a cable, so i do not know if there are any issues with wireless as i have not set up the… Read more
printer to print wirelessly. For the price i paid ($179.00) i am very happy with the printer. As of yet, i have not had to purchase another printer cartridge as i am still using the orginal one that was supplied. I would recommend this printer for persons who was a basic mono laser printer that prints in black and white, for a reasonable price.
A nightmare – My mother and I both bought one of these each on my recommendation for use with Google Cloud Print. They've been nothing but trouble since day one. The setup with cloud print is cumbersome and time-consuming and once it's set up it constantly loses connection. Almost every time I wanted to print something the status in Google Cloud Print would… Read more
show as "Currently Offline". I had to unplug the thing and boot it back up, forget the wifi network and re-connect, de-authorise my Google account and then add it back again until I got it to work. Initially, it was so buggy that I needed to do a manual update which could not be done over the air - we had to buy a USB cable and loan a Windows machine to perform the update. Since then things haven't been much better. On top of that the quality of the print was very average. I will never buy a Brother again.
Perfect – This printer is so convenient. I bought it to use with my iPad. Print quality is great, because it's laser it lasts a long time. I only wanted it for text. It doesn't jam, it works every time wirelessly. Not sure if it's the printer or my iPad set up but it doesn't print at 100% Show details
Good print quality, lousy wifi – The text print quality is excellent but image quality is poor (I only needed a text printer so happy with that). So far I've had no paper jams and economy seems okay. The big disappointment is flaky wifi to the point of being useless - either I have to restart the printer or reinstall drivers. Very poor. If you need a wireless printer look elsewhere. Show details
Great little printer. Pity about the networking – I just wanted this B&W printer for text. As a printer I'm very happy with it. Clear text. Nice to have the two-sided option. Paper feed is good. I reuse paper still blank on one side and despite the creases I have had very few paper jams. And they were easy to clear. Refill pricing is good for me as I don't do a lot of printing. My biggest… Read more
beef is its networking. I use it at home where we have three or four PCs, all windows from XP, W-7, to W-10 (Surface). Some are connected via Wi-fi, others by ethernet. It is a very tedious process to set up the printer, either wi-fi connected or ethernet and the instructions are confusing. Instead of explaining what the various parameters are, or offering them as options, it seems to have a mindset of what my network is. As a result, if I make any minor change suddenly one or more PCs cannot find the printer. Even if the PC knows the printers IP adddress it still cannot print to it. Partially a Windows problem. Win-10 is much better.
The worst printer that I have ever used – I bought this printer from an on-line store. For text only, yes, the quality is acceptable. When I printed a scanned textbook, the print quality became terrible. I have printed the same pdf on Xerox & HP printers and the quality differences were Day and Night. This brother showed the WORST by far. It was my first brother and it'll be the last… Read more
brother printer, too. I had to communicate with the brother support for 3 weeks and they finally agreed that the quality is poor. By the way the unit seems identical to the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint P265DW and it appears one factory produces for two different brands in Vietnam.
By the way, Brother sent me an email for my opinion. I've spent some time to write my opinion then they rejected my opinion as my feedback was negative. What's then the point for asking for feedback? They need to change their attitude towards the product quality & customers' thought first.
