Brother MFC-250C

OK – We actually got this machine free with loyalty points. Set up and installation was easy. I tried printing some pictures for my son for show and tell and while they were ok I wasnt overly impressed with them. Last night I tried to print a letter and the occasional line was blurry on it so not sure what that is about. I like the fact that there are 4 seperate ink cartridges which means when one runs dry you only need to change that one, saving money. Easy to install, light, works well. uses 4 seperate ink cartridges Picture colour isnt the greatest.
Good – This is easy to use & overall an excellent machine for the price. But if you use OEM cartriges a set of spares in value packs will cost nearly as much as the machine. The quality of prints etc are quite adequate for home office use. I bought this machine because I have found the Brother Machines to be generally reliable. This is a smart two-tone grey machine with buttons clearly marked on the control panel. The paper tray slides into the bottom of the front & is fully protected from dust etc - unlike a number of other machines that have the paper fed through the top which results in paper droop if left in the machine for any time. The set up procedure is clear & the menu system easy to use. The LED panel is difficult to see & requires that you stand over it to see it clearly. This is annoying if you have your printer pushed back to give more work space. It would be good to have some back lighting &/or the LED panel raised to face the front. The machine drivers were not compatible with Win7 but could be downloaded from the Brother website.
