Great little printer – It has been a steady and reliable printer for the last couple of years, never missed a beat. Works well with cheap compatible ink cartridges too. I use all of its features except the fax and it is very easy to use. The scanner document feeder works a treat too.

Shoddy – Never again. This printer malfunctioned after a short time, An error message appeared, but the printer's guide book does not explain what the message means nor how to address the issue it has identified."Mechanical fault" can be anything. This printer sounds good, but is flimsy and not worth the money in the long term. Black ineffective, faulty, difficult to programexpensive to maintain and

Difficult to use with extremely annoying features – I bought this printer on the recommendation of an electronics store. I asked for a printer/scanner that would work seamlessly with a mac, be simple to use and have cheap ink. It has been a nightmare to get the scanning working with a mac. The manual is rather vague and the software wouldn't download properly. I eventually got it going and it… Read more

worked fine. Now for some reason it doesn't. I would avoid Brother products if you're running a mac. I have two teenagers, but none of us could work out how to get the wireless printing working. Gave up.

The printer won't print at all if one of the ink tanks is empty. So, even if you just want to print in black and white, you can't do it if the yellow cartridge has run out. If you do buy this model, make sure you have a spare in the drawer at all times.

The print quality is really bad. My previous HP and Epson printers were much better. The few photos I've printed have come out grey and grainy. A waste of time and money.

Big W seemed to have a calidad refill for every other printer on the market except this one. So, I had to buy the genuine ink cartridges at twice the price of my last printer. I wouldn't mind so much if the print quality was good, but it riles me to pay that price for rubbishy printing.

Most annoyingly, the printer has some kind of self check function. Every now and then it whirs and the scanner bar runs back and forth. The printer is in my bedroom and it wakes me every time.

It is also bulky and the cartridge for paper is cumbersome.
