MPN: MFC-J6940DW4 reviews
Goodness, I purchased this print about a month ago. It wants to scan to get help from Brother. For nearly two weeks now, they will not ring me; they only respond by email. Because of the time zone difference, they only reach out around 6:00 p.m. very disabpoined thinking about througt teh printer away and getting anothe rbrand. My advice: dont buy them very poor customer service. Show details
Capable machine but uses up colour cartridges at rapid rate even though I very rarely print in colour (have to click black for every print job). Demands software updates most weeks. Quality of colour printing is mediocre, if you only need colour rarely you're better off with a plain B&W printer & a print shop nearby.
I bought this for the additional versatility and A3 printing over my laser printer. I knew the colour print cartridges would be expensive and therefore didn't use them. What I didn't expect was that the colour cartridges would dry up (not acceptable) and now I constantly get a very annoying warning when the printer is connected to the PC and I… Read more
have to override the colour warnings every time I want to use it. Simply not acceptable and either a) poor design or b) a deliberate attempt to push sales of colour cartridges.
Great Printer - Set up help could be improved – I purchased this printer 8 weeks ago online. I have had a Brother printer for the past 10 years and it always worked very well. It just recently started to get a bit more sensitive so I researched for a replacement and came to the result to stick with Brother. The MFC-J6940DW offers A3 and A4 printing, copying and even scanning and faxing. My… Read more
reason for purchasing this one was that I need to do a fair bit of scanning and was on the search for a feeder and double sided scanning function. The set up of the printer was very easy and straight forward, I thought. The connection to the network and my computer seemed simple and worked well for all printing jobs and scanning of single sided documents through the flat bed scanner done on my computer. It became a problem when I wanted to scan a few pages for the first time through the feeder. Following the instructions on the display indicated no connection with my computer. After researching a came across this problem seemed be a big one for a lot of other customers. Many hours of trying to set up this function correctly led to frustration as all help pages, research results, downloads and links online got me nowhere. Trying to connect with Brother customer service has been a challenge too as there is no number to be found to actually get in contact with them. At the end I went through customer review to get a response from Brother and a contact number to for further assistance through customer service. After working through all steps with a representative, the feature of scanning from the feeder has been finally installed and works good now. The printer itself has great printing quality and works effortless now. The cartridges to replace are between $150 - $190 for a whole set (X-large).
