Bunnings Multistore Storage Unit

Great product – Purchased this product thankfully before I read the reviews. With a little common sense this product went together easily and accurately. Unfortunately it is the people who struggle in this area that seem to leave poor reviews for what is a really good product. Bunnings clearly stock this product because for the larger of purchasers it is a… Read more
suitable product and happy consumers. Only thing I would recommend is to use some PVA glue on the dowels, backing board of units and drawer bottoms to ensure a solid final product. Will use this product again without a doubt.
Total nightmare – Flimsy chipboard held together by hardwear so tiny you will think it was meant for a dolls house! The 'back of the wardrobe is 4 separate bits of thin paper mache. It cannot handle its own weight because the screws are only a few MM into the chipboard it will fall apart if you do not add reinforcements. I will be getting a refund what rubbish. . Show details
I thought the multistore products were great – I have recently completed an entire walk in robe fitout using the multistore products, at first I was a little hesitant based on the poor reviews but after getting joinery quotes and comparing the huge cost difference I decided to give them a go. My husband and I put the units together (hes a tradie) and I thought they were pretty simple, there… Read more · 1
are no numbers on the panels like a normal flat pack and the instructions on the multistore website are a bit clearer than the ones you get in the box (look at these if you get in trouble). The only issue we had was one of the shoe racks we bought had a mark/defect on the front of it so I took a photo and emailed multistore and they sent a replacement pretty quickly, this replacement then got knocked around a bit during transport and arrived a bit broken so I emailed them again and they organised another replacement, again very quickly so cannot fault their customer service. Some of the units are also in 2 sets; so a bottom half and a top half, we added some gorilla glue to make it sturdier and also used gorilla glue when putting all the dowels in. To nail in the back plates you get a bunch of tiny nails to nail in individually which would take forever so use a nail gun instead if you have one. We also customised the packs slightly by sitting the kicker panels flush and then building a continuous kicker underneath all the units and adding striplights, for the drawers we used push to open drawer runners instead of the ones provided and we also havent put in the top piece on the drawers just yet as we are hoping we can build a shallow drawer for jewellery/ties etc. Honestly doing the multistore system saved us quit a bit of money and I think it looks great, only giving 4 stars as the one unit we received had a defect but as explained above that was resolved quickly by multistore.
Rubbish product, barely adequate once complete....if you get that far – Do not buy any of these multistore products that contain drawers! Absolutely rubbish. The worst drawer construction I've seen. The drawer bases are held on with as many small nails as you can handle knocking in. You are pretty much left to your own devices to determine where the draw runners attach. There are no holes or marks at all to… Read more
indicate the correct position. Throw the instructions in the bin, they are pitiful. If you enjoy putting Ikea furniture together, then steer clear of these. They have none of the precision that the Ikea products do. Holes misaligned, shelves slightly narrower than top and bottom pieces etc. All the individual fittings, screws and eleven million small nails are in the one plastic bag, not separate bags. Some pieces had no holes pre-drilled, so we had to mark and drill these out ourselves. Cheap and nasty units overall, yet they are not actually cheap to buy. If it were possible to view these before purchasing them, we probably would have walked away.
Multistore 5drawer unit crap – First the instructions- useless and not accurate Second- missing drilled holes Third- our box came with two right pieces Fourth- Due to lockdown we purchased online using click and collect, but after purchasing we received an email advising it was on “special order” and we didn’t receive it for weeks. I’m going to ask for a refund as the pieces… Read more
are incorrect and obviously don’t have the correct holes pre drilled which will cause issues. Can’t understand why Bunnings continue to stock if it’s so crap.

Poor quality – Pretty much the other reviews have nailed it. I bought three different units and all had issues Like the hardware to connect everything was either missing or incomplete. Holes not drilled so a drill is required. The draw bottoms are very thin and will fail with any sort of weight so I have already reinforced mine. I would not by again. Next I will… Read more
make the effort to drive to IKEA.
Bunnings did send out missing items so I could complete the units.

Not Cheap, Not Cheerful – The product was displayed on the top shelf of the racking in store so unfortunately I couldn’t get a close look of the quality before placing the order. We purchased 5 units for our walk in robe, which totalled nearly $2000. At this price I thought the product should be pretty good. Now I have installed a lot of flat pack furniture for myself and… Read more
family members, and this was the first flat pack product I have purchased from Bunnings. The unpacking of box 1 revealed instructions that were written by someone who has no attention to detail. Poor illustration, and descriptions that presumes the person assembling has some experience in assembling this type of furniture. They claim the tools required are a Screw Driver and Hammer. I would suggest adding a Set Square, PVA Glue, Spirit Level, Chisel and a Rubber Mallet. Once assembling the outer frame they suggest in the instructions that you use the backboard as a guide to ensure the frame is square before driving the nails in. If the wafer thin backboard was square that would work, but as it is two halves crudely taped together, one half was longer than the other on every board (like a hinge so it would fit in the box) this is where my set square came in. I applied PVA glue before nailing the back board on, and installing the middle shelves early to ensure the left and right gable boards were straight. I won’t go into the details of the next 4 boxes other than to say it didn’t get any easier. Main issues as follows, No detailed instructions on where to install drawer runners. No detailed pictured instructions of how to install the anti tip device or even what they look like. EXC-750 H3 unit instructions claims Runner Hole Position 1-8-12 and the Cam shelf position at 20. Actual is 1-8-13, and shelf position 18, as there is no hole number 20. The CAM holes in one drawer were a nightmare. I had to get my chisel out as not enough timber was removed to get the CAM heads in. EXC-750 H1 & H3 smaller cartons with the drawer components were packed without any packing other than a scrunched up piece of paper at each end of the box. The timber parts just slid about inside. EXC-750 had different length hanging rails. One stays in the other falls out.(the helpful Bunnings staff are sorting this out for me). Just to concluded, if you don’t have basic woodworking knowledge, or experience assembling flat pack furniture Do Not Attempt This Product. Very expensive chipboard.

A bit of a let down actually – Purchased a 5 drawer 1 shelf unit and proceeded to assemble. I have had years of flat pack furniture assembly experience and very soon into the process I discovered issues. Show details

Overpriced Solution Supplied Cheap – I purchased two of these for our 2 spare room wardrobes via special order in our local Bunnings. They were priced at the top end of what I would deem reasonable for flat packed furniture and I was disappointed. This particular unit came in 2 packages, The tall main unit and the drawer package. My first gripe is that the instructions are very… Read more
inadequate. I am used to putting this type of furniture together and am capable but if you aren't good at assembling this stuff then I advise you to steer well clear. The 2 page instruction sheet eludes (Mainly via pictures) to pre drilled holes which are not present on the side panels and one needs to assemble the drawer units and place them into the frame before fitting the middle fixed shelf which renders the unit inflexible at a time when it need to be more rigid. You will need then, to drill your own holes from the 'inside' of the unit which can rip the nice white melamine coating off when the drill breaks through on the outer, visible side. The fittings supplied were of the cheapest alloy and 2 stripped before being driven "home" when any force was applied. On assembling the drawers the same lack of information was evident but also the design is cheap to make and easy to fail. I prefer to see drawer bases that slide into recesses on all four drawer side walls but this simply locates in one and the bottom is nailed into the chipboard from below on the other three sides. A failure just waiting to happen after a few years of use or even sooner with heavier contents! There was no instruction as to the positioning of the drawer mounted runners and you are both left to guess and drill your own pilot holes for the screws. Only one locking device is used in the centre of each side of the front drawer panel which means you will definitely need to glue the dowels so that they become a fastener rather than a locator only. (Because all of these dowells are always never a tight fit right)? There is also a piece in the packaging for which there is no mention of in the (again) very limited instructions. Very overpriced for what they are. Wont buy this brand again.
