Canon Laser Shot LBP6000

Terrible – There is something wrong either with this batch of printers or all of them. I took my printer - the second one back to the retailer, set it up, printed 12 pages of my paper and machine jammed and printed paper 4 cms thick - through distortion. I then took 12 pages of my paper and put through retailers Laser. Not a problem. I then took 12 pages of retailers paper and put through mine. Same problem.
Canon could not have cared less. My efforts to try and assist them find out what the problem was were spurned.
If any one in Canon interested the whole story is on your file 72060 - someone needs to rev up your Customer care area. I had a LBP1120 I think - a previous Canon Laser Printer and it was great. I therefore bought this one when my new Windows software 64bit was not compatible with old printer. The new one is a dud.
I also have three other Canon products so felt loyal to them - naive. So after much talking to Canon I found that I needed a new Printer and they recommended this as an entry level home printer.
First one when printing one page, came out wet all along the top. If you printed 12 pages they were so distorted by the wet and what seemed like the 'cooking' of the paper that the full slot was full of distorted pages and any more pages jammed.
So back to retailer and if a product is U/S in first 14 days they replace.
New one ie second one the same.
So I talk extensively with Canon Customer care. All they can say is take it to the warranty repairer. But what will then happen with my 14 day right of replacement I ask.
If it takes longer than 14 days you are stuck with the printer. I offered to take it to the repairer, wait for return of it and then I wanted the 14 day right of refusal.I said this will be to your advantage. Retailer has six more printers and they are obviously a dud bunch.I am a loyal Canon customer and would like to assist.
No they said - either return or fix and keep.
I returned and took a Xerox Phaser 3155 for same price and not a problem - in fact faster!
I love my Canon LBP6000 – I have been using for about 2 months and not had a problem, installation was simple, works great and is quick. I have always had Canon printers, my last one was LBP800, still works but I got a newer PC so had to upgrade. The new LBP6000 is so much quicker. I also have a larger unit iRC2550 for colour printing, faxing, scanning but wanted a smaller desktop printer and this fitted the bill. Fast, inexpensive, reliable Does not speak to me like the LBP800 did but I'll survive without it.

Thank you - if not for your review I would have been stuck with one of these. Canon do't seem to care - but I do!
