Our Canon printer had done a lot of work and we felt it was time to "pension it off". A Canon, it had served us well, but we were paying a small fortune for replacement ink cartridges (for which it had a voracious appetite). We "did our homework" and bought the canon Maxify 6060 which does not use cartridges, but had reservoirs which you fill from a bottle. WE MADE A GREAT CHOICE!!!!! Although more expensive at point of purchase, after 18 months use, we still have not re-filled the reservoirs (although the black is getting low at this stage, the colours are still 3/4 full). This puts us well on the road to recovering the extra purchase-price. We have also found that the print-quality is superior to the old one (which was pretty good). Would we recommend this printer to our friends? The answer is a very definite YES.

Follow-up  · In answer to questions - ink re-fills are easier than cartridges. Scan quality is excellent. Noise is about on par with our old machine.
