It's actually been an alright printer – I've had this printer for a few years now, and it's never really let me down. True, it's not going to print picture perfect results as it's far too primitive a machine for that. However, for scanning and basic text printing it's been very reliable. Show details

About to return our Canon printer - again – Low on ink, put brand new ink in. Computer is saying that the ink levels are low - when that is not true. Printer screen says that the door is not closed. So which one is it. It has never worked with wifi. So using the connection via USB. The ink runs out quickly. I am over trying to work out how to use it. Its not reading the new ink cartridges.… Read more

Flashing lights. Over it!!! Canon - just make them better so we don't have to keep returning them!! Im trying a different brand this time. Canon - cannonball straight back to Officeworks and no doubt, another Canon printer going to landfill.

When it isn't having issues, it works well – Constant issues with connectivity to laptop, printer getting jammed, printing half double sided and the rest not. Ink constantly getting clogged/ not printing in all colours. Connectivity is really frustrating, not always connecting despite restarting a number of times. Keeps asking me to update it, but doesn't work when I go through the prompts. Often spools the paper crookedly so will jam. Show details

never buying canon again – Absolute crap … printer wont pick up paper …. practically new, hardly used this printer. I had a Brother printer for 6 years , besides the odd dried up ink blockage which was easily cleaned I never had a problem with it Show details

5th printer – Totally understand the expectation that these machines won’t last. But. Why why can’t these ink cartridges be used on another canon machine within the year. This happens every time I buy these cheap printers and spend hundreds on ink. Absolute rort. Looking to buy another printer but can’t use the almost new cartridges I have. Show details

Cheap and nasty – This is the second time I have bought this printer and should have learned the first time but I didn't want to waste the expensive cartridges from first one. First time had nothing but problems connecting and printing via wifi. Second time have similar issues but today it is not registering paper in my cartridge and when it does it's telling me I… Read more

don't have right paper settings. I change settings and manage to get it work but does this every time I want to print. I don't need these dramas when I need to print something. Will end up in the bin with the first one. Would not recommend this printer to anyone and my bet is the people providing good reviews here will have a different story in the months to come.

Good quality printing, however manually feeding paper from day 1 – The printer prints well, the quality looks good, however, regardless of how often I clean any dust, feather the paper, make sure not too many sheets are loaded, it still has trouble picking the paper every time so for the last 6 months I have manually feed page after page, which leads to its own set of problems ie slightly offset printing. Using up the cartridges and then it goes into landfill.  Show details

Does the job well – Printing quality is great. Love having the individual colors so there is no wastage. Love having the combined printer & scanner. Is a bit noisier than my last Canon 6865 printer. No problems so far. No jamming so far... Did have it occasionally in my last printer 6865...but it didn't happen that often so it didn't bother me.  Show details

Really poor colour quality – I have had the MG5765 for over 2 years and have tried various ink cartridges and settings but consistently get poor print quality from this printer. Color print is not good though usable, but printing images and pictures are terrible. There is no option in the print settings to choose a 'best quality' print and the standard setting is worse… Read more

I have not had the jamming problems that other people are complaining about but find it to be a lousy printer.

I usually buy HP printers and have never had a bad one so back to HP next time.

Amazing value for money – The print quality is far better than my last much more expensive printer. The price of refills seems very competitive. So far the reliability is excellent, have had no problems at all. I can't understand those who say it is difficult to install. For use with cable it's pretty much plug and play. I haven't tried the wifi yet  Show details

Best Home Printer 2018 Australia – What I like about the Canon PIXMA MG5765 is it: - was easy to set up, using my own USB connecting cable from printer to computer - reliably prints and scans - was cheap at just $69 from Officeworks - has a solid attractive white and silver appearance - accepts non-Canon generic cartridges, so saves on running costs - has five ink tanks (not… Read more

"The Canon MG5765 is a great buy at the moment. It is a multifunction, print, scan and copy with full wireless capabilities. The MG5765 uses 5 individual cartridges and these printers work like a charm with generic ink cartridges."

Fantastic for the price – Bought this Canon to replace one I had had for several years. It is ideal as a home printer/scanner. Very easy to use. Excellent quality print and I love that its white and matches my desk and computer. Very satisfied indeed especially as it is very reasonably priced. Very good for photos too  Show details

Worst paper holder ever – I bought this Canon to replace a similar Canon which is my 3rd Canon. The older MG7160 was a good printer. This 5765 throws all printed paper on the floor as the out tray is far too short to hold paper-very frustrating. Whilst the 7160 connected to my WiFi automatically I am still not able to connect even with a computer person next door to assist. Does Canon look at these reviews?  Show details

Enjoy trouble shooting? – I have had this printer for around 3 months, I have had to re install and reset the software around 7 times. If you enjoy trouble shooting then this printer is for you. Good work Canon, I never knew printing could be so frustrating. Perhaps it works better as a hard wired machine but that's not why I bought it. I didn't know I could hate an inanimate object so much.  Show details

Canon is very bad for the environment as they change the ink cartridges with each printer update..... to try to ensure u buy the genuine ink cartidges

No user-serviceable parts are available for canon printers.

worst printer ever! – I bought MG5765 From Office works 13 January 2018. Replacing the inks, very early, Within 300 copies the Yellow head died. Good enough – The was very easy to set up and the refill cartridges are not that hard to find. It does what it is supposed to do and it prints and scans clearly. However, the only problem I had with this is it jams from time to time. I have already tried using a different brand of paper but it still jams.  Show details

Good low volume printer for the money – Given what I paid for this printer, I am very happy with it. The app is easy to install on iOS and Android. Printing from mobile and desktop works well. Fine by me – Have only installed recently, had no problem doing that simple, quick & easy. The print quality is O/K. Jam jam jam – So this printer actually does an ok job when it works. However, every time I want to use it I have to babysit it and watch what it's doing because so help it God it will either: A) Not recognise there is paper in the tray and make you wiggle it back and forward so it can find it, or B) Actually take a sheet of paper and then immediately jam the… Read more

paper in its innards, forcing you to have to lift the printer and open up the back to rip the mangled remains out and try again.

It's astounding when it manages to print a page by itself (after about two minutes in which it sits there and makes noises). I find it interesting that they've made the back of the printer so accessible -- the whole back lifts open. Almost as if they knew people would have to constantly open up the thing to recover the wreckage of their botched print jobs.

I liked my previous Canon printer, but this one is cheap useless junk. Avoid.

Does the job, but very annoying in several ways – Printer does the job...But, getting it installed wirelessly is an absolute pain in the butt. Also, if you change your WIFI password, you have to go through a million steps just to change it on the printer. So, set up is a big 0. Print quality is decent. Haven't needed to get ink refills yet. It's incredibly noisy. If you simply print one sheet of paper, it still sits there making a whole bunch of noise for a few mins after.  Show details

Noisy and awkward paper tray – Had a Canon Pixma which has been great but error code came up and that was that, old one seemed nice and solid and a better design than this one. Absolute rubbish!!! – This printer will not connect to a computer for any more than one print job. I have to ring the cannon help desk for it to be reset every time I want to print a bloody page, unistall & reinstall sometimes works, but not all the time. I cannot express my disgust with this product anymore without being offensive! Taking it back to officeworks tomorrow for a refund & buying anything other than a cannon!  Show details

It's really a good printer, but sometimes it gets a bit cantankerous – This is/was a good printer, Great wifi, and would turn on automatically from the "print" button on the computer, and worked well either single sheet or duplex printing. each and every sheet of paper.

My previous Canon was an MG5600 which did exactly the same thing!

READ UPDATE BELOW

..................................................................................................................................................................................

Having deciding to look further into the "why it wont work", I found a clip on Youtube which showed the paper pickup roller underneath the printer can get clogged with paper dust (yes there is such a thing, lol).

Lay it back on it's back side (where the plugs go), pull the paper carrier up and you'll see the paper pickup roller toward the bottom - it's one roller but with a clip or holder in between.

Wipe it over with an isopropyl alcohol swab OR get some rubbing alcohol at your local supermarket and wipe over the roller, let dry and all is good again.

Now it will work as it should making us all happy chappies.

Absolute pile of junk. Lasted 11 months – And that's the replacement unit. First one was DOA. Basically the design of this printer means the paper feed never works reliably. I wouldn't touch anything in this range. Good print quality when it worked Very slow but that's ok. Good wifi. Really it was the paper feed that made me bin it when it was up for more very expensive ink  Show details

Printer is good, ink replacements often defective, and company fobbed me off to the retailer – The printer is satisfactory, though too expensive to use because of ink prices. This does not happen every time, only with some canisters some of the time - so the problem is with… Read more

the canisters, not with the printer. When I approached Canon about it, first they said maybe I was given :starter" canisters. When I said not so, they said I had to go to retailer, and would not acknowledge that some of their replacement ink canisters were defective. They do appear to have a quality control problem and do not want to acknowledge it.

Great little printer – Very easy to install and simple to use. Quite quick to print B&W but a tad slow on colour. Very cheap to buy but ink may be a killer down the track as is with most printers. Otherwise I'm very happy with the purchase.  Show details
