This printer is RUBBISH, USELESS, UNUSABLE....Canon should be ashamed to have their name on this piece of junk. It simply can't be set up via WiFi. Not even through the Canon pixma Print app. I've tried 20 times, 2 different places with optus and telstra. Forget it. Do not buy one. Don't even take a free one. That's how bad it is. Show details
Follow-up · We took this useless printer back and received a refund. DON'T BUY ONE...
I would give it zero stars if possible. As mentioned by others I have previously owned canon printers with no problems. This one has been hit and miss with WiFi connectivity from day 1 and required many hours of work to connect to WiFi. Due to poor WiFi coverage throughout the house we recently added a mesh system. If your home requires a mesh… Read more
system to enable WiFi in different locations forget trying to connect this printer as the router needs a wps button for connection. Can’t use Ethernet either as there’s no port. Now I have a printer that is pretty much useless. This printer really isn’t worth the money or hassle. My next printer won’t be a canon.
Buy at your peril – I've always had Canon printers and have never had issues until I bought the G3630. It is absolutely hopeless. Flaky connection through wi-fi. It said double-sided printing on the box but only if you print one page then turn that printed page over to print the reverse side. Slow to start printing at times. It was so bad that I contacted Canon… Read more
Support, some thing I had never previously done. After chatting with a couple of staff and receiving good support I encountered one who bluntly typed "Nothing wrong with your printer". Obviously decided that I'd had enough support. Will I buy another Canon printer? Highly unlikely given the poor software and poor customer support.

no good for occasional printing – I agree with most of the reviews here that this printer is not fit for purpose. The ink dries out in less than a week. You can see in the image I've uploaded the difference in the red colour. These pages were printed a week apart. So I think you'd have to be printing nearly every day for the ink not to get clogged. Doing the 'cleaning' operation… Read more
does seem to work but it uses ink every time. I also agree with everyone that the WiFi is difficult to set up and I am quite IT literate! Having large liquid ink tanks seems like an economical option - but in the end it isn't because of the poor implementation.
Positive reviews
Pretty happy – I have read reviews and i agree in the beginnig. Then realised i this printer works really well if you are printing daily. I had all the issues stated till i printed more and now no issues at all. Show details
Has been perfect printer for me – I have owned my Canon Pixma G3610 for two years or so ... I purchased it from JB HiFi I am extremely happy with it ... set-up was a little frustrating re wireless - I complained to Canon the instructions were inadequate ... previously I used a Canon MB 2160 - it's wifi instructions were overly complicated, with me having to insert serial no:s etc… Read more
- but it worked brilliantly once wifi was set-up ... and I was extremely happy with it as well I ended up connecting my G3610 with USB ... I tried to print from my HP all-in-one one day ... expecting it not to work ... but it worked fine ... it had set itself up automatically surprisingly - since, both computers print to the G3610 flawlessly ... the only problem I have had was recent ... printing 40 -60 b/w pages at once, it ran out of paper ... and after refill, it wouldn't print ... ten minutes of mucking about, (saying it was out of paper/offline) it suddenly stated printing again perfectly I expected to see all 5-star reviews, so negative ones surprised me ... the only thing I can say ... is that I print 4 to 5 times as much (in full colour) as I did with the MB2160 (mainly b/w) ... and I use it on average 3 to 4 times a week ... my ink tanks are still half full - I couldn't be more happy with this printer - I got it at a really good price ... and regularly look out to purchase a second one at a similar price ... hence I saw these reviews ... I would buy it again no problem As to print quality ... it's fine ... I haven't tried photos ... I don't need to change settings for most of what I print ... my ink tank levels are all pretty even, after 2 years ... I bought spare ink ... looks like I didn't really need to do that ... I have never had a paper jam ... I have had to run maintenance due to blank pages only 2 or 3 times I love it!
The best printer I have ever had – I am a real homeschooler for 12 years. We do a lot of printing and over the years we have gone through many printers and costly ink...I bought one of these 2 years ago and when the paper shute would not feed I got a new one sent the next day to my house....I now after 2 years cannot print colour. I have saved thousands of dollars over the last… Read more
several years by owning this computer. i have only changed the ink partially once. it is $70.00 a time to replace other simple ink.. We have a Netgear nighthawks that seems to work well with it. I have no configuration issues like other printers. It is only now the color has stopped and unfortunately it is 1 month out of warranty.

Really average – Internet - Given up - connect via a cord to the PC. Printer heads - 50/50 if they need a clean EVERY time you print Print Quality - Hit and miss, photo's come up ok if you can guess right settings or a colour is not blocked. Tanks - Last ages, which is a shame in this case as cant wait for them to run out so I can get rid of it and buy another… Read more
brand. Software - Given up, easier to download scanning freeware. More reliable.
Bought it thinking Canon made amazing cameras back in the day, really disapointed.
Piece of rubbish – Impossible to connect to the internet, heads block and won't print and if you can connect to the internet, do not change your modem as you will never get it to connect ever again. The heads blocked so bad that I had to buy a kit to take them out and clean them into a bucket as the cleaning mode is useless. Show details
Died after 14 Months - DO NOT BUY – This is the worst printer I have ever owned. Firstly the setup process is almost impossible, you will need an IT degree and about 10hrs of youtube video training just to connect it. Secondly, the printer heads dry out if you don't print every week making this completely not fit for purpose. Finally, it has inbuilt obsolescence meaning that if you… Read more
need to do a printer head clean (which you will) it basically spits ink onto some random sponge in the rear and when that sponge fills up the printer will stop working forever!

Biggest waste of money – This has to be the worst printer ever made! Spent $400 on a piece of junk.. Had it 2 years and probably printed 20 sheets of paper in total. Heads constantly blocked or need deep cleaning. Now wont print at all no matter how many cleans I run! Gave up and bought another brand printer. Disappointed Canon! Show details
Useless piece of junk – After following the manual to fill the ink tanks, remove all the transit tapes and wedge, and insert paper, I downloaded the setup software and turned the printer on. I followed the setup app prompts on my Mac. That was 2 hours I’ll never get back. I then switched to a windows 10 laptop and took several attempts over several hours just to get it… Read more
to connect to my Wi-Fi network. I sent a test print - no colours printed. Tried several times after checking printer, network and router settings. No joy. Decided to run the cleaning and alignment routines. No joy. Then, an error code and a message to contact the service centre. It is going back for a refund. Canon have really lost a lot of quality lately - and this printer is not cheap. Don’t buy it.
Canon Printers will be the worst experience you will have – Buyers Beware. Canon Printers have a built in end of life feature. They have an “Ink Counter” that will render the printer inoperable once a specified number of prints determines the ink overflow is full…..you can’t reset this yourself and your printer is obsolete unless you take it to an authorized canon service center. Built in obsolescence… Read more
which I thought wasn’t legal in Australia. One day your printer is working and the next day it will display an error code that you cannot delete. Your printer is now just junk! You will call canon and they will give you the run around. I was left with $700 of ink that they would only refund if less than 90 days old. Every step of the way the were at best difficult and you will bounce around several “customer service staff” so no one takes ownership of the problem. I swear I have never found any company so genuinely difficult, arrogant, and apathetic as dealing with Canon. It’s not that the printers are bad, its this built in “your printer won’t work now” feature and their attitude that is just terrible. Has anyone ever worked out that a tiny ink cartridge is costing us all upwards of $2600 a litre…thanks canon…my solution was a different brand Ink Tank and the ink itself works out 85% cheaper…do not buy a canon…save yourself the pain.

Awful! – How long have Canon been making printers? You’d think they’d be able to make the setup process more efficient. Really terrible device. Find another product. This one is going back to Officeworks. Show details
Worst Canon I have ever owned – The quality of Canon printers seems much lower now than it was twelve years ago when I bought my first printer. The G3620 looks and feels cheap but its definitely not in the lower price range. I paid extra as I wanted the mega-tank - which, admittedly, is a big improvement and will save ink costs over the long term …but that is the only advantage… Read more
this printer has over my twelve year old model. The other reason I paid extra was because I was led to believe it had duplex printing (the ability to print on both sides as my old model did). In this I was disappointed; the G3620 only does that if you print one page at a time and hand feed it, flipping each page over manually - an excruciatingly slow process and, effectively useless if you are trying to print a document of any size. Given the amount of paper (and therefore trees) wasted in printing only one side I am surprised that very few printers offer genuine double-sided printing. Other problems with this printer is that it is difficult to set up, has extremely limited options, has numerous bugs (such as regularly rejecting A4 paper size as 'irregular') and is excruciatingly slow. I will look at other brands next time. Canon has lost its once high reputation in my view.
Don't even think about buy this printer – I've had this printer for 18 months and its failed. This printer was not cheap, forever cleaning the printer heads because it doesn't print the correct colours as per online manual.Totally unreliable and now after cleaning the printer heads AGAIN it still does not print the correct colours. Not happy. Can't use with Apple MBA – Absolutely impossible to use with apple silicon MBA. The utility won't load. The ink refill reset system doesn't work. Can't find the printer when connected directly to it with a usb cable. This is absolutely rubbish!
Very difficult to set upG3610 – Very difficult to set up. Eventually connected to my phone no thanks to the instructions they didn't work, I had to work it out myself. Still can't print in colour. The instructions or lack of are woeful. Cannon assist wants to change $ 95 to help me!! I'm About to take it back to Office Works and get my money back. Don't buy Show details
Unreliable and erratic printer – Despite "deep cleans" as per the online manual, the printer only prints in "invisible ink"; no printing in B&W or color. At 18 months of age it is unreliable and frustrating to use. Ink tanks remain 3/4 full at sighting. Time to get a better printer and dispose of this one. Show details
Officially the worst printer I have ever owned – Paper does not feed properly, it can take 20-30 attempts to print a page If it does print eventually, there's no rhyme or reason as to why. I have persevered with this printer for a little over 12 months (Covid lockdown purchase) and have probably successfully printed about 30 pages in that time if I am lucky. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF LANDFILL Show details
Do not buy! – Scanning seems to be impossible, requires another program to install before getting it to work. Printing is very temperamental and is difficult to link to the home network(WIFI) with one computer let only two. I don't think this printer should have ever been produced as it seems hardware although flashy is let down by poor software integration. This printer has turned me off Canon products from now on. Worst than COVID – Scanning- Quicker with a over head project tracing onto paper Printing- takes forever set it to print then go to work for 8hrs and it may have some issue when you get home This printer is a dog and expensive Show details

Cannon G2632 – This is the worst printer I have ever owned. 1) Printing is too slow - once I send a document to print, nothing happens. I wait, then send again. Eventually 2 documents print. 2) Scanning - Can only scan 1 page at a time resulting in multiple documents if there is more then 1 page to be scanned. Also no easy way to scan. The instruction refer… Read more
to a non existent icon or prompts. 3) Auto Duplex printing - non existent. To do duplex printing half the document prints, instructions appear on the PC to turn the document around and reload in the paper feed. Absolutely useless. 4) Air Print - Print auto powers off disabling the Air Print function. i.e cannot print Air Print until I walk to the print and power it on. Not the purpose of Air Print. 4) Have not tied copying yet, but hold very little hope that it will be easy or successful. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER AGAIN. We purchased this due to the ink wells, and the information sheet implied it had the functionality we needed,: print auto duplex, copy, scan, print. IT DOES NOT. An expensive mistake
This is not a good printer do not buy one – My G6300 has just broken down. This is already the second replacement I have had and it is same problem as last time. The paper will not go through the printer. This replacement has only used a quarter of the ink in both black and colours it was replaced in March 2021. Show details
an expensive piece of junk – connecting the device to your printer takes the life out of you.. once you have it connected it prints only when it feels like. I am being told by the error messages that another computer is using the printer! so it won't print.. its a pile of crap and I wish to god I had reviewed it before listening to the salesman that sold it to me. Connectivity and outages – Wanted simple wired ethernet connection but not available. Was told by HN salesman that it had ethernet connection (was one of our criteria) but when we took it home and unpacked it did not. Should have returned it then, but needed to use it urgently at the time. Past warranty now, we are too busy to return and re-choose something else. Have… Read more
put up with dodgy WiFi, or USB to computer I don't use, and is often disconnected. Often can't make it work on Wifi at all, and that auto-wake up on print, in the advertising, never worked. Have to wait for usb portable computer owner to return, to use printer or especially the scanner. Does this work with an ethernet print server? I'd guess that the scanner doesn't. Print and scan speed and quality seem acceptable over USB. Have not run out of ink yet.
Later Edit: the warranty mentioned above was for if returning because of changing my mind. Extended support warranty for product support continued. Kudos for HN for honouring it... After 2.5 years, the cleaning sponges got full, but instead of being able to replace them, the whole device was deemed unserviceable. It worked OK up till then. Was able to get it returned as broken, but sadly not getting another Canon. Big ink tanks seemed like a good idea at the time, and I prefer Canon's print quality/color accuracy to other brands, but the lack of wired ethernet, and the complete inability to service ink cleaning sponges (even by a technician!), makes the printer unviable for me.
It's a useless, non-user-friendly expensive heap of crap – The "buy new cartridges" warning comes up when you still have half-full cartridges, the user menus have NO choices but to replace cartridges, which cost as much as the printer itself. An over-priced useless, expensive heap of UTTER CRAP. Show details
Printer useless haven't even used 1/4 of the ink from new – Always having good experiences with Pixma Canon printers I decided to buy the new model with refillable ink. This costs a lot more than the disposable cartridges but I thought it would have been worth it in the long run. Lately the printer will not print black at all. I have tried everything head cleans, restarts , drivers etc... but nothing… Read more
works. The head seems to make a weird noise during cleaning. Anyway this printer is just over a year old and has had hardly any work. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this rubbish and I wish I just bought a cheap disposable printer that probably will still be working. Don't but this crap its a disgrace its allowed to be sold its a $39 printer with a $450 price tag. Now I also have bottles of canon ink I cannot use.
Not a good purchase – This printer is supposed to be better because you fill it from bottled ink. Had problems from beginning 18 months ago. Set up was a misery, Cannon service no help. Printed ok at first but soon stopped printing in colour and finally in black. Very hard to scan or copy have to go via program on computer other printers scan from printer, much… Read more
easier to work. Connectivity was always an issue it used to drop out for no reason and had to be reinstalled. Finally gave up. Bought $100 new ink and it still didn't print. So stuck with 3/4 bottle of ink no refund, once opened. At least it didn' t jam that often. So fortunately had extended warranty(Cost $300 and refunded $307 but that is another story) which gave us a chance to buy a new Brother.
Heap of garbage! – Poor paper pickup. Not wi-fi (my mistake for not picking that up at purchase). I had not owned a printer for over 10 years but needed one for work, suddenly. It worked fine for the first half a ream of paper. Then the colour was off. Tried all the suggested fixes to no avail. Show details
The WORST printer I have ever owned, and I have owned some pretty crappy printers – The user interface is terrible, there are separate systems required to print from computers or mobile devices. the pearing is patchy, it is just a really crap printer. (the refillable ink cartridges are a good idea, that was the reason I bought it, but since I can rarely get anything to actually print it' they are kind of pointless) Show details
The worst example of any piece of modern machinery – I have been using printers for the last 45 years. I have never experienced anything before that is truly useless. Extremely frustrating. Multiple head cleaning results in black that is barely readable and colour that is non existent, except for a hew of red. The only reason I have't thrown it in the bin, is to show people not to buy Canon. (and pigheadedness) Show details
disaster unfolded – i bought this printer at a post office set it up and it worked for a few weeks then stopped working. i rang canon and got no help they had all gone home cause of coronavirus they referred me to a link which didn't work something is clearly wrong with these canon pixma printers I'm experienced at fixing canon printers cause my last printer was a canon but could not fix this one luckily they gave me a refund at the post office kathy ingram
Very poor quality – You need those big ink tanks as you use most of the ink doing deep cleans trying to get it working. I've had the printer replaced twice under warranty, canon was once a great printer manufacturer not anymore Show details
Definitely don't buy one! – As the recent reviews have stated, this printer is a piece of rubbish. Endless hours of cleaning, deep cleaning and system cleaning to no avail. Even when I got it to print correctly , it would only print 4-6 pages then the cleaning process would have to start again. Once out of warranty, it then came up with systems error which could not be… Read more
