Good multifunction printer for that price

I was thinking to buy a Brother multifunction printer as all my previous Brother printers worked very well for my home office business. However all the current available Brother multifunction printers are really big size and heavy. That is why I change to buy this Canon printer. can i print a4 and a3 and does it also print both sides
I never print both sides. However, from the description, it can print double sided. It can't print A3.
I bought it last month from OfficeWorks for $289 with free two set of Canon ink cartridges. It is good printer but I can't scan double sided from top feeder. Does anyone knows how to scan double sided?
How many ink cartridge's does it have, When it prints texted black and white is it clear to read. My last printer all the tex was blurry and joined together hard to read.
When I bought the printer, there are 4 small ink cartridges inside the package. Looking at the cartridge container, there is also a big space for a bigger cartridge. I guess you might also buy a bigger one to put it there. Very good quality in both black and color.
