Had to go extensive trouble to get computers to recognise this. Update specific canon drivers, specifically to the actual model, and then patches and was time consuming. Total waste of time with a poor quality machine. Had to get help remotely from relative to finally install it. Now just bought a Brother - 15 minutes to install! No problems. Never Canon again! Printer ADF failed after short use. Contacted Canon for repair or replacement. Got nothing but the run around . 3 requests for proof of purchase which had already been submitted. Wanted video of fault. Asked what ink I was using. Had nothing to do with the ADF malfunction. Then I read fine print on the warranty. It is at my expense to return printer, which most likely will cost more than the printer. Never ever buy a Canon Product again. Show details
Constant problems with this printer. Being a network printer you would expect it to be an easy set up - no. Could connect it to computer after spending 30-60 minutes rectifying issues. Then next time you boot the same computer wouldn't connect and… Read more
then spend another 30-60 minutes rectifying issues. Additionally, as other reviewers have stated, plenty of black ink but when printing just get blank pages. Nozzle clean, works again for a couple of pages then blank again. Dismal.
Follow-up · Still have problems with the wireless connectivity for this printer. If contact is initiated from the pc it won't work. From the printer it will (sometimes) work. Set-up guides and online help are a confusing mess. Considering getting a cable and directly attaching to avoid wasting more time on poorly implemented tech by Canon.
As another review said it gives false readings of ink levels to make you constantly replace the expensive cartridges. Buy a different printer, check the price of ink. Show details
Extremely disappointing ! I wish i had kept my previous model cannon which was very easy to set up and use. This new model has been trouble from the start. It does not plug directly into a USB port on a PC, is unreliable and i object to paying a subscription to Cannon each month, When it decides to print the quality is fine but generally this is a huge step backwards as far as overall performance goes. Since purchasing this printer has given troubles with the paper feed. I was told it would sort itself out with a bit of use & here we are almost four years on & not a day goes by where I dont have to pull out the paper feed drawer and reinsert. This was purchased in May 2021 & I can’t wait for it to die so I can purchase another brand next time. A… Read more
bit sad as I have had Canon Ink Jet printers since their first introduction in the 1990s. I have had probably five in all & the latest has been the horrible. As well as the continual paper feed problems, it does not scan too well as it often will pull in two pages at a time. Duplex printing is also an issue. So bad I really had to give it a big thumbs down.
Faulty codes – Threw a code after replacing ink cartridges and no matter what I tried it wouldn’t reset.don’t throw your money away on this junk.expensive ink that constantly runs out. Show details
Disappointing product – Canon has really dropped the ball on this one. have had a MG5765 for many years and it finally gave up the ghost. Went with Canon again expecting good quality, ease of use etc etc. My printing needs are pretty basic, just connect to a PC and that's pretty much it. Returned the 1st printer as it would not operate after spending almost 1 hour with… Read more
tech support. Finally got the 2nd one up & running, but really disappointed with 1. Ease of use (the old one was less convoluted) 2. Build quality, the body looks flimsy(the old one appears more robust) 3. Even with tech support, the set up was a pain in the rear end.
Based on the last one (MG5765), this one is a big disappointment, had expected the same if not better Should I have the need for a new printer in the future, I think I will give Canon a wide berth
If this unit is a reflection of their products overall ..........WOW! how the mighty have fallen
Avoid unless you like being frustrated – This printer constantly thinks it is being fed from the rear feed even though that feed is closed and paper is in the cassette. It seems almost impossible to get this error to go away. Its ink is incredibly expensive and it has two black cartridges!! Why!! I hate this printer. Show details
Painfull printer – It took me few hours to get the scan document send directly to my email. There are heaps of steps you have to follow before you can scan your document directly to your email. There are no usb port for faster scanning to usb. All laptops uses usb port for connecting usb device. There is sd card slot for directly scanning to but most laptops… Read more
don't have sd card slot. I only bought because it was on special at officeworks. I regret buying this printer. My previous printer was far far better than this. What a mistake I made.
Rubbish - nothing but trouble from the start and now wont print – Had all kinds of issues with this printer. Including not detecting paper when in the feed, saying ink cartridges emtpy when full, and regular error messages popping up when trying to print. Why cant they just make a decent product that works. It works - it prints! – I felt I had to write a review since I did so much research before buying my printer and I kept finding bad reviews about every printer!! I ended up thinking no home printer worked. I needed one so just picked this one. Its been perfect - I turn it on and it comes on instantly, I send a document to it for printing and it comes out quickly. I can… Read more
print from my phone with no issue. It scans well too. I haven't managed to scan to an email yet but not tried very hard so I am hoping its something I can work out. I like that the inks are all separate as I believe it means I can just replace one color when it runs out. So far so good.
A Nightmare and no closer to an answer – I bought the first machine but the power plug could not stay in the socket. Took back and got second machine. After 4 hours cannot get any printing - the computer does not recognise the printer - error message says that Windows does not recognise it whatever. Might need to go into a registry and use computer language. I have gone through all the… Read more
manuals and downloads that seem relevant. Tried everything. And I'm not completely unsavvy with computers. Stay well away. I have wasted three mornings and still no closer to printing.

Great little printer – My wife uses this for her school work. Prints constantly, no problems at all. It's a little funny with 2 print trays. From PC it will use the main front tray, but from mobile or tablet it will be from the back tray that I didn't know was there. Scan quality is fine. Show details
Had it 24 hours. Constant paper jam! – Our old Epson printer was playing up and we thought we'd get a Canon. It wasn't a cheap printer. It cost about $300 in Officeworks (came with a second packet of inks as some sort of deal.) It was a flimsy build and the touch screen was not terribly responsive without pressing hard but we figured we could put up with that. The biggest obstacle,… Read more
however, was the paper tray which constantly jammed the paper or it took all the paper into the roller all at once. Even when we took it back after 24 hours and I went to remove the printer from our printer list on our computer... the final insult was when the preferred printer option said 'Canon Printer. Paper Jam'! There seems to be a fault with the design. The paper goes into, what Canon calls, 'a cartridge' but this is where the paper jams. Then to print the pages you have to pull out another part of the printer in order for the paper to be printed and for the paper to come out of the machine. I only got it to print one page after many hours and despite many attempts and we figured this was not going to be satisfactory for our work needs. I would never recommend this printer to anyone.
Good multifunction printer for that price – I just bought this printer at a price lower than $200 from Kogan. I was thinking to buy a Brother multifunction printer as all my previous Brother printers worked very well for my home office business. However all the current available Brother multifunction printers are really big size and heavy. That is why I change to buy this Canon printer. I… Read more
am very happy with its functions so far considering it is cheaper than $200. Merits: 1. It can scan multi pages automatically from its top paper feeder. It saves me lots of time as my work requires scanning for lots of documents; 2. It can be connected to PC and mobile through Wifi and Bluetooth, although I don't really use mobile to print anything. 3. The size of the printer is really small and light. It does have some short-comings compared to the Brother multifunction printer I bought many many years ago. It is a bit noisy when printing and scanning. Also I found out the scanning software doesn't seem to allow lots of editing on the scanned documents. But in general, this printer is quite suitable for home office.
