Excellent – I have and will continue to recommend Canon printers as I have never had a problem with any of their printers over the years that I have used them and the ip4200 is the best all rounder I have used to date. The iP4200 is a very good printer for either documents and/or CD/DVD labels and the ability to do duplex printing is a bonus. The setup CD is… Read more
easy to follow as are any extra settings you want to alter within the printer settings.
The ip4200 is not a noisy printer either in my opinion, some HP and Epson printers I have seen are noisier. The price of the replacement ink tanks can be a little expensive but if you shop around that can be reduced considerably.
The biggest Con with the current crop of Canon printers is the "ink tank chips" which stopps users from refilling their own ink tanks and forces users to use genuine Canon ink tanks.
I have had a freind use refilled ink tanks from a national cartridge refiller shop and 3 of the tanks failed to register in his printer so the cost in the end was more expensive for than buying the genuine cartridge.
I use a small program called InkSaver (http://www.inksaver.com/) which reduces the amount ink I use on any given job and it is adjustable to suit my needs.
Good – Good unit, have printed photos, cd's and general printing. quick and easy to use. Had this unit 8 months and been very pleased with it. have recommended canon to several others now. Thought seperate colour tanks would be cheaper and I guess it is as we always had some colours left on the multi colour cartridges but we do seem to use ink… Read more
more quickly on this one.
Not always easy to find the cartidges in all stores and sometimes had to go back to the shop a couple of times but try to keep a supply now.
2 paper feeds are handy and the straight through one allows printing on card and photo paper easier than the lower tray which bends the paper. Small in size so more desk space, quick and quiet.
does good prints and easy to use.
Price was very reasonable. Ink seems to go quickly after my last 2 hp printers however sperate tanks are a bonus, refilling can be difficult as the tanks do not always register they are full so the machine keeps giving empty messages but prints ok still.
Found even with a new tank this was a problem after I took it out and then put it back without refilling it, printer thought it had been refilled.
Good – This printer is getting on a bit now, but it still gives outstanding results for the money. As long as you use good quality photo paper you can get prints as good as those from the machines in the high street. Good value for money. Quite compact and is quiet during operation. Prints DVDs. Not the fastest printer out there, but reasonable none the… Read more
less. You have to use canon inks otherwise the warranty is voided. However, the inks are separated by colour and I've had the printer for over 2 years and am only on my third set of inks.
Excellent – I thought the Epson printer was a good brand when I bought it, which it probably was back then, but now I am a Canon convert. I would recomend a Canon printer to anyone looking for a cheap, but good quality printer for home. I bought this Canon printer on 5/7/2006 when my Epson printer was wearing out. I found it very cheaply priced at $178 from… Read more
Big W, compared to the Epson which I had for about 6 years. I like the flat top to it and how it folds up into a compact shape. I also like the 2 paper feed capabilities and the ability to print on CD/DVD's and duplex printing. I have printed lots of photo's, colour documents and CD's and have found the software very easy to use. The single ink cartridges is great as my old Epson had multi coloured cartridges that always left some colours with ink remaining. Although Canon have the ink tank monitoring chips on their cartridges to encourage people to buy genuine Canon ink cartridges, I have been successfully refilling my cartridges and have disabled the monitoring chips. Canon say the warranty is void if genuine ink cartridges are not used and the monitoring chips are disabled, but for the cheap cost of the printer if something broke down on the printer I would probably just purchase another one. I haven't had any cons with this printer and find it prints very well and quietly.
Good – This printer does a great job for the money. I've been using mine for about a year without any problems at all - the print quality is as good now as it was when new. It prints discs well, although it does take a little time to align the disc. The disc printing software is easy to use. It does seem to get through a fair amount of ink. The chips in… Read more
the ink tanks are a con. I have been refilling my tanks from the start (instructions were included with the refill inks on how to disable the ink tank monitoring software) and have had no problems at all. I would certainly buy another Canon printer (although I would check to make sure I can refill the ink tanks first). Good printer for the money. Print DVD/CD discs. Does duplex printing. Handy & easy to use disc printing software included. Ink tanks are expensive and contains "chips" to discourage refilling.
Excellent – I think this was a great buy for it's price. I actually managed to buy this for $140 from MSY Computers which is the cheapest i've found it so far so i'm definitely not going to complain about it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap printing solution. This is a great printer for it's price. It's fast, capable of duplexing,… Read more
printing to CD, has 2 paper trays. (You can use 1 for normal paper and the other for photo's or both for paper of the same size). It closes up small and is solid so it saves space and can act as a temporary bench. (what can i say, i'm a messy person). I love the seperate ink cartridges which are really cheap to replace. The printer needs to keep re-aligning when printing on a CD which can take about a minute.
