Not so user friendly, will never buy Canon again! – The last printer we had was HP. It was a good multifunction machine as it prints, scans, and photocopies within just a push of a button on the laptop. The only problem was that the ink cartridges were very expensive, almost the same price as the printer itself! So after doing a quick research (solely on the ink prices), we decided to give Canon a go. Biggest mistake ever! It was hard to assemble (putting the cartridges in) and every time you want to print something, you have to press the on button to connect to computer (we never have to do this with HP as it automatically turns on the machine once you hit 'print' on the computer). It takes forever to connect the printer with the laptop though the USB is plugged in 24/7. To scan a document is the same story, takes forever for the printer to read the document and scan. Very disappointed. After this lot of ink, we'll definitely go back to HP. Cheap machine, cheap(er) ink (than HP) Not user friendly, takes forever to connect to laptop after hitting "print". Hard to assemble at the beginning.
Continuing problems – First issue was that it rarely connects wirelessly, which is why we bought this model. So we have to use the USB cable all the time. Then we got an error message in the first year. Had it fixed under warranty, got it back, same error two months later when warranty no longer valid. Sent it back to service centre to repair again. Had it back for a month and same error occurred yet again. Also does not print photos very well.
Bad warranty service; we are sick of sending it back and forth for the same error.
Unreliable wireless connectivity – This printer/scanner works well with a cable connector. Unfortunately I have found the wireless connection to a Windows laptop (in the same room) to be very unreliable. The laptop reports the printer/scanner can't be detected, and I have to turn the printer on and off to get a connection, which negates the point of having wireless. The laptop's wireless networking to other devices is very reliable. Print quality Wirelss connectivity unreliable
Great printer, cheap and works well – Our last Canon printer died so we had to get a new one, I didn't want to pay a fortune for something just to print lists and documents so I found this one. It works really well, the scanner is fantastic for scanning old photos in relatively good quality. It looks nice as well, which is always a bonus. Reliable, Inexpensive, Nice to look at Ink is expensive
