Now 8 Years on this Printer Still Going Strong – I Cannot Fault this Printer, I Use the Cable Connection & Have Had No Problems at all + I Have Been useing Generic inks for the Last few Years. Print Quality is Fantastic the first few years were used Mainly for A4 Colour Prints Will Def Replace with Canon when it Dies Show details
Dies a sad death all too soon – Prints fine but now has the dreaded and all too common error message B200. Is now junk. I tried CPR, defibrillator, but its gone. I wouldn't buy it again, Ink was very expensive, wi-fi never worked, try something else. This printer is now discontinued and perhaps for good reason. I wish I lived in a world where things lasted. Off to e-waste you go!
Pretty good – We have had our printer for the last five years or so. It has been really good until the printhead just went - more economical to get a new printer I think. Scanning was excellent, print quality onto photos was fairly good but could never get the wireless to work. (only tried a year or so ago so couldn't take it back). Overall pretty happy with it given the length of time we had it.
This is a good printer when it works – Had it for 2-3 yrs printer head gone. Canon not worth the money, Customer service didn't want to help & wouldn't even offer another printer head, they did not show any empathy at all
Not user friendly, if you want to print various photograph combinations – If I was to rate this printer on print quality alone I would give it three-four stars but I am barely able to give it two stars for printing varying photo sizes as well as the standard 4x6. I have two canon SLR camera's and photograph weddings. I like to be able to occasionally print a few photos at home for samples or gifts and also like to… Read more
print photo's for the family. But every time I print a photo it is a mission with this printer. There are so many settings that I need to make sure are set which requires a different selection from the drop down each time. You can save a default but not often do i want to use the same settings. Then when I select a certain picture size it never prints correctly. It either prints to the correct paper size but crops the image or vice a versa. It quite often chooses the wrong paper size. Before anyone thinks it must be me choosing the wrong settings, I triple check all the settings etc so its not that. All my computers are Mac so maybe this printer talks to windows not lions :)
The instructions are very vague regarding WI-FI. If I turn the printer off and on, I have to enter the network password into the printer again. This is painful because you have to scroll through a whole alphabet and other crap each time. It's very time consuming.
I won't bore you about the rest of the more technical problems with it talking to other programs. But if this printer was easy to use it would be great. It just isn't user friendl.
It's been a year since I purchased the printer for about $400 at JB and I give up on it. colour quality and colour adjustments Difficult settings, very expensive (12months ago), password for WI-FI doesn't save, prints incorrect photo sizes.
Makes hard work out of an easy job – Occasionally this printer starts up and prints. Most times it goes through it's warm up ritual that can go on for 10 minutes before I have enough and turn it off. Most printers get a rating on print quality. This one gets rated on whether it actually prints or not. I can't recommend it at all. I've had cheaper printers that print on command. Separate ink tanks It was a lesson in frutration hoping it would actually work every time.
Worst printer I have ever bought – I bought this printer a couple of years ago thinking I would get something decent instead of the usual under a $100.00 cheapies I would normally buy, Big Mistake. Took ages to work out how to set up the WiFi connection, compared to a $39.00 HP that I bought (whilst this was in for warranty work again) which was up and running in about 5 minutes. … Read more
Very frustrating waiting for the thing to go through it's warm up cycle, only for it to come up with some error code and have to switch off and restart.
Paid $250.00 for this, and I will take it back to Harvey Norman and tell them to keep it.
Take a long time to warm up. Wireless very difficult to set up. Work when it wants to. Canon Australia hard to contact.
Expensive, unreliable.
Same, if not worse story This printer did not print the talk so to speak. A total waste, when it… Read more
Great quality printing – This is a great printer for the home, which prints to a very high standard. I love the fact that all of the colours are in seperate ink catridges-making it much more economical to refill, as you only need to change the actual colour that has run out rather than all three colours when only one has run out like most catridges. Not the cheapest… Read more
inkjet printer, but is a really great quality. Also very handy that it scans and copies. catridges all seperate for each colour making it cheaper to replace. Very high quality printing I can't get my to setup as a wirless printer and the instructions are not clear enough for me to work out how to do it-I may have to ring a help line if they have one.
Excellent – This printer is awesome. It is well built and looks good as well. The wireless option makes it a printer that can be put anywhere out of site in a house that is networked with a wireless modem. The inks life when used properly is brilliant. When printing text, i go into preferences and select gray scale to save ink usage. Printing directly on… Read more
to ink jet compatible cd/dvd is also brilliant. The self opening tray is a great feature, so you can place the printer butt against the wall at the rear. Front USB input and card reader is also a good feature. The large LCD screen makes it easy to print a photo without turning on your pc as well. Scanning quailty is brilliant. Great Printer. Easy to use.
Quality of prints is outstanding.
Ink friendly.
Canon Pixma MP640 - fault B200 – We totally love it! Scan, print, wireless ability. Great quality for low to mid-range price. Definite value for money. Though never really utilised wifi etc. Update: years later end of 2015 December fault B200 Just spent over eighty dollars on all new ink cartridges but a fault still seems to be insurmountable.. :/ quality printing.ink… Read more
not excessively expensive.. fast printing. nothing. oh okay.. slightly odd paper tray at bottom tricky to manouvere at times, but can also load from the back [so my husband says]
Excellent – What a great machine. Was able to price match it at DSE for $220. The CIS kit was the main option I was looking for but the wireless, duplex and CD were a bonus. Great printer for the price. Can be modified to use CIS continuous ink system so you make your money back in no time. Wireless works well. Prints on both sides with duplex feature. CD… Read more
also are very easy with tray attachment. Scanning doesnt work wirelessly. Would be great if a 35mm film scanner was available.
