Carvell's Auctions, Supposedly experts in the field but not! – I purchased at auction collection of Unit Badges based on their description as being of WW1 vintage. As "experts " in their field, I expected the description to be accurate and reliable. arrival, I could immediately see that their description was incorrect and I was able to confirm that the badges were in fact from WW2. The item was described as being of a 100 year old vintage or more and of high value, but in actual fact, it was some 70 years old and of lower value. Anybody with any knowledge of militaria would know that the Parachute Regiment was a WW2 unit and not a WW1 unit as described. There were no parachute units in WW1. Anybody could have seen this on looking at the item in person rather than seeing a poor quality photograph. Carvells, the experts could not.
