After a "Drivers" update my PC no longer works, I need to try and restore to an earlier point in time now which is difficult as it keeps crashing. May have to take it in for repair. NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT. Lucky it was a trial period, and I didn't pay to destroy my PC with outdated drivers. Now I just need to pay to fix it
I purchased CCleaner Professional on 24/12/2012 as a one-time purchase. The invoice and the order confirmation email did not state anywhere that the license was time-limited, that it was valid for one year, or that it was a subscription. There were no terms such as “subscription”, “renewal”, or “expiration”.
The software continued to work for approximately 13 years and received regular updates, without any warning about license expiration or any request for renewal. Based on both the documentation provided at the time of purchase and the behavior of the product itself, I had a reasonable expectation that the license was permanent for the purchased product.
When I contacted customer support in 2025, I was informed that the license was allegedly a one-year license. At the same time, the company acknowledged that invoices and order confirmation emails from that period did not always clearly state the license duration, and that the software continued to function due to the way license enforcement worked at the time.
I do not claim that I have proof that the license was a “lifetime” license. However, there is also no documentation from the time of purchase that clearly shows the license was limited to one year. I believe that reinterpreting the license terms more than a decade later is unfair to the customer.
Follow-up · Before publishing my review, I had correspondence with CCleaner customer support. In that communication, I was informed that the license purchased in 2012 was supposedly a one-year license. At the same time, they acknowledged that invoices and order confirmation emails from that period did not always clearly state the license duration. The software continued to work and receive updates for around 13 years without any warning about license expiration, and no renewal was ever requested. Because of this, I had a reasonable expectation that the license was permanent for the purchased version of the product. A refund was not offered. As a resolution, I was offered one year of free use of a new license. After that period, a subscription would be required to continue using the latest version of the program. In my opinion, changing the interpretation of the license terms more than a decade later, especially when the original documentation did not clearly state the limitation, is unfair to the customer.
Took money out of bank and never got license code sent - unable to contact them! – WARNING buy a subscription at your own risk! I did one years subscription to test out the pro version. After 6 months I decided to not renew and tried to make contact to have my subscription cancelled. No response but when it was due they did not take any $$ so I figured they had cancelled it for me. Almost 12 months to the day (I have been using the free version) I find they have taken a payment of $57.95 from my account but no licence sent! I have made many attempt to put in a support ticket and no response. Tried to contact via fb page but that is no longer monitored. Asked in the Piriform community and all I got was, "May as well just cancel your card and say good bye to your money". So it seems Piriform do this often. How is this allowed that a company can have your sensitive data yet you are unable to contact them..AT ALL! Some of these app companies need a good over all. I am now nearly $60 down and have no food for a week! ALL companies should have a secure way to contact them and be forced to reply to support tickets instead of ignoring them!!
