CitiBank Gold has been wonderful – After spending 37 years of life and being conned by every bank of the Big 4 and then some, I decided to try Citibank after seeing signs posted on many major airports both in Australia and Worldwide. They have been super and not just for the wonderful service they provide, but they have reimagined the way of banking showing 'pending' transactions… Read more

and they offer their exclusive Citibank Dining Rewards. Nothing beats good food with a bottle of James Halliday rated wine (90 points and above means good wine). I cannot fault them

After 10 days Citibank still hasn't managed to give us our funds back. Don't give them your money – We have a Citibank gold account and have recently moved overseas. I have been trying to transfer a large sum of money to our new Danish account. Citibank offered an incredibly bad exchange rate so I decided to go with OzForex for the transfer. However after 10days, 3 faxes, several emails and calls they still haven't transferred the money to… Read more

OzForex. I spoke with the branch manager several times and have lodged a formal complaint. They are very happy to take your money but getting it back is a very different proposition. Don't bank with citibank. I only gave them one star as no stars is not an option.

This is a complete nightmare. Avoid them.

Balance Transfer Cash Rate – Entirely my fault - I didn't notice this card would revert to the exhorbitant cash rate once the cheap period was over. So, not only was I was still paying off old purchases on credit, now I'm being charged for them as if I withdrew cash. Now any perceived savings in interest will be gobbled up very quickly by the new extortionate rate. You'll… Read more

only get me once Citibank. I will never ever be back for any of your products, ever. Thanks for the great lesson. I'll pay this one off and close it as quickly as possible now, which isn't a bad thing anyway. Thanks for nothing citibank sayonora. good internet security well hidden fact (at the time) that this card reverts to a very high cash rate after the honeymoon. Beware!

Terrible – Stay away from this company! Do NOT get a Credit Card from them! I have had nothing but trouble with these people. I am generally a very good payer - I always pay my bills on time if it is humanly possible. However, the first time that I was a day late paying a bill due to my pay cycle getting out of whack with the billing cycle, they were on… Read more

the phone harrassing me to pay up immediately. They are the only company to ever call me at work to demand payment when I was a day late. Unbelievable.

Getting their credit card was one of the worst decisions of my life. Nothing at all. I wanted to rate them a 0, but this site won't let you. High charges. High interest. Appalling service. Incompetent and harrassing staff.

Low rate balance transfer a scam - getting charged standard rate for its high annual fee! – I guess it's all my fault for not reading the tiny print - but this never happened to me before. After transferring my other credit cards balances into this no so great credit card. I noticed that I was getting charged nearly $3 each month on purchases.I was confused, considering I have not used the credit card for purchases at all. When calling… Read more

the customer service centre (and waiting nearly 40min to speak to someone) the service officer could not explained why I was getting charged. After looking on the internet for complains, I found out that the $3 charges each month is due to the $149 annual fee. Wow! Double dipping? of course. Ok, it might be only $3, but can you imagine how many people are paying interest on these?? How outrageous! Not only this is the highest annual fee I have ever paid, but also I consider this credit card useless. Free travel insurance? Not worth it. You have to buy the travel tickets with them (obviously) to be entitled to buy the insurance, but then again, the savings are not that great when you are paying high interest rate to these greedy people. I am so disappointed on their service and after reading a few reviews here, I don't think I will be using it overseas, after finding out that their charges are even higher for overseas purchases!

Also, I decided that to avoid any penalty charges ($30 for late monthly payment)I would fill in the form to ask for the minimum monthly payment to be deducted by direct debit from my bank account. At the same time, I would add $100 each month, this - I thought - would quickly pay off the balance on this card before its high interest rate hits in. Well, not so easy. Because I was making payments to the credit card, they did not go ahead with the direct debit, I asked the officer WHY? Again, she could not help me. It's apparently how the system works she said. HA! Of course, the bank wants you to never finish paying your balance so then you get stuck with the high interest rates. In the end, I asked the girl to change the minimum payment to a fixed $150 monthly payment. She said she could not do it over the phone (oh dear God!) , but that she would send me some paperwork to fill in and then I have to send it back. Seriously? It has been over a week and unless they are printing this paperwork and sending it attached to a pigeon it seems I will never get it!! Never again Citibank!

Worst credit card provider! – I have always paid off my credit card in full each month but after my card expired they never sent out a new one. Terrible – My experience with citibank has been woeful. My minimum payment was $150 and I made my first payment of $250, only to receive a phone call 8 days later that my billing cycle had changed and I owed more money, I paid them $200 and arranged a direct debit form which I handed in personally at their Perth office and assured that it would take 2 days… Read more

to process. Three days before the due date I called and was told that the direct debit had been processed and payment would go through on the due date. A day after the due date, no money had been transferred, I called and was assured that it would occur in the next couple of days, still no transfer, I called again and was again assured that this would be happening any day soon. Next thing I know I'm getting a very nasty phone call requesting two payments and a let payment of $40 immediately. I enquired about the direct debit form and was told they've never received any such thing from us. Stay away from Citibank. low balance transfer interest rate offered for long period incompetent staff who tell you something different every time

Terrible – Customer service is a massive let down. Its a pity because this card has some good advantages. Many of the call center staff don't seem to know what they are doing. I guess their systems and proceedures are part of the problem. They never follow up when they promise to solve problems. They politely told me I will not be penalised for the… Read more

It simply isn't good enough - Not even close!

OK – A good deal but be aware of the fine print. Never spend if you are transterring debt and be prepared to pay interest on their fee's. Customer service is very ordinary as well. OK – Products much better than service. Every human contact I have with Citi makes me want to cancel all my accounts. If I stay on the web, I can tolerate their products. Bad – Would I recommend this card / company.. NO.. after clearing the balance totally and putting a few hundred dollars on it in my favour for when I travelled to Asia... it was a nightmare.. even though I rang the bank and advised them I was going overseas (twice!)... first transaction was blocked a whole $30 AUD... and then everyone after that. … Read more

After repeated long distance phone calls to australia (and no they won't ring you back.. company policy.. and I had an Australian mobile) I was give several different reasons.. I didn't tell them I was travelling(then they found on their computer that I did), insufficent funds (the acccount was in my favour), risk of a security breach... etc etc. in the end my card was frozen for 24 hours and all that citibank austrlaia could suggest was that I try to use my husbands card on the same account. Did that.. It worked once, then froze too. So don't ever rely on having one credit card for overseas.

After 3 phonecalls and demanding to speak to a manager, I was told the best they could offer was to email support, yet because it was christmas eve and they were closed until the new year it would be ten days to get answer...

That was no way acceptable, and eventually after several days the card was unlocked. To this day, 6mths later I have had no answer as to why it all happened, and what the problem was.

Up until this experience I was reasonably happy with Citibank. * frequent flyer points * extremely poor customer service

* poor support

Terrible – Everything was fine until I wanted to pay off the balance, transfer my qantas points and cancel the card (to get a loan approved for a house). Impossible. I also experienced different call centre staff telling me different things about the process to cancel the card and transfer my points. very annoying. Upsell gets annoying and boring sometimes.

OK – Lucky for me I am very careful with how I use my credit card so I don't incur high interest fees, however the points/rewards system could be dangerous for those who are vulnerable and that is what they hope for. and then proceed to tell you about special insurance offers etc when you only rang for a little querie...you have to be tough and say "look that is all I wanted thank you..bye" BUT the most frustrating thing for me (which I am sure all companies/banks alike do) is that I constantly get letters in the post telling me I can have my credit limit increased if I just sign on the dotted line...What the?? If I wanted more credit I would ring up for it...don't try and push it down my throat on the off chance I may be vulnerable (especially at xmas time)...very very rude!! What if I can't afford to repay it?? Flash Looking gold card! Great rewards point system which works very well if you pay your balance every month and don't let it get out of control otherwise it is a con to get you to spend more than you normally would. Expensive annual fee ($119.00 for what??) which gets added to credit card with no warning and when you go to use it you may not have enough credit available.

Excellent – Fantastic easy to use anywhere card that as long as you remember the golden rule of not overspending and paying the balance off in full before the iterest free period is up the card can earn you lots of things and not even cost you a cent. maximum is truelly a way to beat the banks at their own game. Have your wages earning you interest for 55 days and pay everything using your credit card. Have an automatic payment set up so that you don't even have to remember to organise payment so you are never late to incur any fees. You will earn interst on your money and reward points on the banks money. Its a win win situation as long as you are always aware of your finances and do not spend more than you earn simply because its there on credit. Remembering the golden rule that what ever you put on credit needs to be repayed so use wisely and you will reap the rewards. The best ever reward programme whereby you can purchase items, store vouchers, frequent flyers or even convert to good old fashioned cash... Absolutly nothing...

Good – Some people were lucky enough to be offered this card fee free for life - what a bargain given that there is no additional rewards fee (like AMEX has) Good rewards program 60000 pa limit is better than ANZ's 2500 per month Calls to call centre cumbersome and frustrating High fee for foreign purchases

Bad – There are much better cards than this one. The gimicks that come with it are initially appealing but to me they don't make up for the high interest rate and poor customer service. Excellent – Our Gold Card has an automatic payment every month that wipes out any existing debt, so we pay no interest, only yearly fees of $35. Excellent – The Citibank reward system is simple and permits flexibility.
