Stopped working after a few uses – Useless for camping. The rechargeable battery stopped working after a few trips. It still runs when physically plugged into the power point… so if you want to use this light inside a powered house then SURE! I was going to try to buy a replacement battery (because I hate waste) but after reading these other reviews I don’t think I’ll bother. Show details

Lousy product – Bought a couple of years ago for home use only for when power outages so not much use from it. Would not recharge after a couple of attempts ...zilch. Would not work with the 3 D size batteries either. I have no recipt now but will never purchase another Coleman product! I do not recommend it even though it is now discontinued which is no surprise when I look at similar reviews from other people! Show details

Great lamp and battery pack – I have had this lamp and rechargeable pack for 2 years and for 2 camping trips and I and my wife are totally satisfied with it. Sorry for those blokes who found trouble with it

The photo accompanying these reviews is of the LITHIUM-ION LED EASY HANG LANTERN not the CPX 6 – The LITHIUM-ION LED EASY HANG LANTERN has performed very well. If anything against i would say too bright for indoors and I would in future select one with less lumens.

Coleman cpx6 – Same as all other reviews. Battery is useless, won’t recharge after a few months after purchase. Using the 4 D cell battery alternative is waste of time too, they’re so heavy they spontaneously pop the battery cover open. Disappointing, as the spotlight light itself works well. Show details

Totally useless! – Exactly the same problems as experienced by other reviewers here. Within weeks of purchasing it, I took it back to BCF and complained. After much cajoling, the manager gave me a new replacement battery. Same problem again and again. I gave up and threw it in the recycle bin! Will never buy a Coleman product again. Show details

Disgraceful, Rechargeable batteries (with green light) do not work anymore – What a waste of money. The battery pack lasted about 4-5 charges and then even though the green charged light is on it refuses to work. How do we get a replacement?

CPX6 Coleman rechargeable battery – Same as the other disastrous reports, It worked a few times and was thereafter non rechargeable. By this time it was out of product defect cover. What a disappointment as the advertised claims it is a camping must have. I rate it as a duck egg score, So don't waste your money. Carefully consider any rechargeable battery items product reviews before ever purchasing again.

Waste of money – Didn't even last one season - battery failed before first use. Looks smart but completely useless. Same fault as all the other reviews. Will take it on our next camping trip so we can sit in the dark around it ;)

The rechargeable battery is disaster – I bought another rechargeable battery several months ago from Bunnings when the original's failed. Today when I wanted to charge it for my next camping, I find out it's dead. The Light itself is fine. Don't buy ANY Coleman products which use these sort of rechargeable battery.

Disapointing rechargable battery life – The rechargeable battery is a complete rip-off. Used the lantern twice over a 12 month period and now I get the green light of death.SO much for green is for go.

CPX 6 Rechargeable battery only lasted one season – I think we used it once or twice, next time we took it camping the battery failed. It shows green light when charging but carries no charge at all. Coleman is a well known brand, and for $50 for a new battery pack you would think that they would be better quality.

Battery failure – The unit offers adequate light and is functional as a free standing lantern and as a hanging unit using the included straps. The failure of the unit is the rechargeable battery. The first unit lasted less than 12 months being used monthly for camp lighting. The second purchased battery lasted 8 months at the same usage rate. Very disappointed with a perceived quality brand in the outdoor product field.

Old tech – After the second charge, it would no longer charge despite the green light coming on. It is crazy that they provide a lead acid battery to power LED lights. What about a lithium battery?

Bad battery's – 3 out of 5 CPX battery's went dead after 6 camping trips and very light use. I have been told this battery is no longer offered. Better off and cheaper to use alkaline batteries.

Another dud coleman battery – Having bought a few Coleman lanterns as presents with the double removable curved side lights, the main CPX6 batteries and the removable side light batteries all no longer charge. O.K. With D cell pack (as long as removables stay connected) mains plug in but rechargable batteries are a total waste of money. What a waste of money.

Different light but very same battery pack, won't accept a charge – I bought a Coleman dual wattage camping lantern with the self contained 6V battery and the pack that you put in D cell batteries. The self contained pack charged one time, the next time I charged it wouldn't take a charge, just stone dead.....VERY disappointed in Coleman.

Cpx6 ist won't charge, replacement ditto – Bought cpx 6 battery from bunnings, charged once, after that just showed green (full charge) but dead as dodo Bunnings replaced no questions asked. New battery showed green for a few minutes then started to charge but since then just will not accept charge, totally disappointed with colman gear that used to be regarded as good stuff, now definitely off my shopping list.

Second Battery purchased 1/24/17 – Our first one had a green light from the beginning of the first charge and never worked at all.The new one took a few minutes to turn from red to green instead of taking hours.Did not work for long.Just trying a recharge to hive it a second go.NOTE:Could not find a useby date anywhere on the package etc.BCF might be getting another visit!

Buyer beware - CPX rechargeables – As per many others please do not purchase anything with CPX rechargeable battery - I got to use my lantern on two camping trips in 12 months - a year later charged as usual, got green light and not working. Rubbish product.

Utter Rubbish – My second battery has just did after the first did exactly the same thing. Avoid this and anything else powered by CPX6. Coleman & Rays have provided me with shrug only. 14 months old. A waste of $40.

The battery charger is killing the batteries – only used it for a short time and the battery died on me so i checked the voltage emitted by the charger and found it is putting out 20volts and burnt the battery out, hence it's not much good to me at all and it seems that all the other purchasers have the same problem

Battery is junk – only used the light a few times, but the battery has died. light is excellent, but now doesn't work unless plugged in, bit useless for camping. not paying $40 for a replacement battery

useless – The lamp its self is OK but battery pack is useless used about 6 times in the past 12 months now it won't except charge and green light is on saying it is fully charged battery is dead. The reason I bought it was because of the recharging capability. Won't go there again with Coleman there batteries are useless.

I wrongly assumed a coleman lamp would be highest qualitu – I'm someone who is very particular about storing & recharging rechargable batteries. It didn't help. One year old, after fully charging it works for maybe 1 hour. Fully charged it after use, came back a week later & it's dead flat. Probably should have bought an Aldi special.

Like everyone else here, wasted good money – I thought that by spending a bit extra we would get a good quality, reliable lantern. Turned out to be worse than my mates $15 one from BCF. Took it back in and they said "user error". These lanterns would be ideal for some-one with a 12V electrical degree and nothing better to do than constantly maintain a sensitive, temperamental battery.

Rubbish - Never Used – Bought this product a few years ago for the occasional black-out. Charged it every six months but now the battery has died, Never been used other than turned on to test. It contains a Lead acid battery which will self destruct with time. Don't buy one unless they upgrade the battery pack to a more modern battery. ie Lithium Ion or NiMh. Lead acids are never going to last sitting around.

Waste of money – Had problems with another brand of lamp and was told by another camping store to buy a RELIABLE lamp such as Coleman brand so I bought one.Used it once and recharged ok but did not use it for quite a while.Guess what! Dead!Tried to recharge it for 4 days but continued to show green light instead of red as it was meant to.Tried another charger which showed a red light so was pleased BUT would not turn green as it was not holding charge!

Crap battery – Battery died after storage.I split the battery pack open, hoping I could replace the rechargeable batteries with new ones. I found inside a small sealed lead acid battery. The property of lead acid batteries is they slowly self discharge until fully discharged and then they are dead. They have to be kept charged like a car battery. Useless for camping and Coleman would know this. Don't buy coleman.

Piece of junk! – I've had two now cause the first one didn't hold charge so took it back and got swapped for a new one, new one is just as bad!! These are crap.

Coleman lamp not working after 2 uses – Only used twice. Charged it up and then didn't work. Paid full price something around $75. A camping item should be able to be reliable. Very disappointed and a complete waste of a lot of money for crap!

Ditto For Me. Dud Battery, Coleman Needs a Recall – Same story again. Used the battery once camping when new. Worked well. Put away with camping gear, brought it out again later and the battery is dead. Won't charge. Says it's fully charged but won't work. This product is not fit for purpose, as a camping light Coleman should realise that it's not going to be used all the time, and produce… Read more

batteries that work accordingly. I was thinking of replacing the battery, thinking I may have been unlucky, but after reading all the other results it is clearly a design fault, and I will save my money.
