and then I could not get it to reconnect. Constantly logging in and out, updating. Why is it that the Square connection is perfect, but the smart mini is not? Must be because it is rubbish!

 Follow-up  · I have sent a letter of complaint to the bank, no response so far....

 Follow-up  · CBA has now responded to my complaint, and were very nice about it. The Smart device does not work, none the less, and I continue to use the square reader.

embarrassing when trying to serve and take payment from hundreds of people. We ended up going back to the normal eftpos terminals as the smart mini is ABSOLUTE JUNK and caused far too many issues than they were worth.

Yeah it's bad.... Always disconnects so almost everytime you want to take a payment it takes around 3-4 minutes to pair it again. Might not seem like much but it's just an annoying and unnecessary process. Even though the fee is reasonable it's not worth the hassle.

told that it will take 10 days to issue refund to customer.. my website is also linked to the real sqaure .. which works like a dream... don't waste your money and time on the smart mini, go for a square is my suggestion and that is what I am going to do..

Nightmare – I've had the smart mini 8 months so many glitches once a month at least nightmare sending people away because of no cash my business is 80% card these days lost another night of work, called help center no joy except that I've been elevated to importance that doesn't help me pay staff.

Absolute rubbish – Absolutely terrible! Rubbish units, cheap and nasty with glitchy app. As per previous reviews, the reader has no battery life, 2 units have failed completely in 6 months, disconnects all the time, fails to function regularly (error messages) have changed to square, easy and reliable. Do yourself a favour and don't be tempted by the free unit - literally you will get what you pay for.

Absolute junk – Totally unreliable, constantly disconnecting, poor battery life, have to use a separate app to view history. In conclusion, a joke. How CommBank think this is acceptable is just typical of how the big banks treat customers with absolute contempt. Don't waste your time and stick with any of the alternatives eg. Square. Show details

NOT WORKING – Twice now with a client wanting to pay, the smart mini wasn't so smart, in fact just plain useless! Fairly unreliable – The app and smart mini reader ... - randomly log the user off and require a log-on - randomly drop the connection and then you have to go through the rigmarole of re-connecting, including scanning the bar code on the reader - lack any product list facilities I use the same iphone as I do with the square reader, and square has none of these… Read more

problems. It's not a problem with the user or the environment!

The rate is good, compared with square, the usability is poor. I'm persevering, but need the square device as a backup.

Not worth the saving in transaction fee to change – Poor battery, app, timeouts, and now I have discovered that 3 transactions have been reversed?. historical day, you need to download a csv report and use functions in excel to give the total sales ................................... oh dear me.. they needed to hold back on the release of this service offering as it has let down the brand quite embarrassingly

Smart mini unreliable for small business – I changed from square to smart mini because of the competitive rates but I would advise against this until they have sorted out the software. It needs to be plugged in permanently as the battery is so poor and after about 3 transactions it comes up with an error message. The only way to resolve this is to uninstall the app. I will stop using it until the software and product is more functional.
