Avoid at all costs, they're terrible. Updating details locks your account from selling shares for 10 days but they don't tell you. Their online identity verification (which you have to pass before selling any shares) is broken, they cant tell you why it failed and they'll offer to send you a paper name change form to "maybe" fix the issue. you're unlucky enough to have had work shares transferred to Computershare move them to another broker asap, they're not worth the aggravation
Wish I could give zero stars. How does this company even exist? Nobody in right mind should pay them for any service. Clunky awful interface which does not work much of time. Stunningly inefficient and unhelpful processes. Avoid if you wish to keep your sanity.
Let me start by saying that I have not seen anything as bad as Computershare. I mean, I didn’t expect a high standard of service from American companies, but I thought Computershare would be at least on the better side given that the head office is… Read more

Here is the issue:
I had Sezzle shares on the ASX and, for some reason, they were sent to Computershare USA, which I learnt at the start of 2026.
I called Computershare Australia and was told to contact Computershare USA, which is very difficult to reach.
After a couple of weeks of agony, I was able to sell the shares, and the communication was almost non-existent, as the only confirmation I received was that I had elected to sell the shares and that a cheque would be sent to me. The message had a tracking number, but it didn’t say how or which courier company. I went back and forth to my Port Melbourne address almost every day and no letter was received. I went to the Port Melbourne AusPost to check many times, and after checking, they could never find an express post for me. One day, an AusPost customer service officer looked up their tracking numbers and advised that it was not an AusPost tracking number. I then Google searched the number and it said UPS. I thought, “Great, another American company,” and just as I had feared, it was shocking. The person, although located in Australia, was governed by US company policies. He said they tried to deliver the letter/parcel twice and no one was home, so they decided to send it back the same day I called him. He sai d it was on its way to the UPS depot and would then be sent to the sender. When I asked why I was not notified either by phone, email, or even a card left in the letterbox, he said that is not their policy. What is their policy - not to deliver?
I wasted a good three hours trying to chat with the Computershare bot, only to be transferred to an agent, and when I did, they were not helpful as they asked me to call a number that I had already tried multiple times. Due to the time difference, I had to stay up until 1am Australian time once again and spoke with an agent in the USA who was neither polite nor professional. He advised that the cheque would be re-sent to me within a few days, as it was scheduled to be received by them by Wednesday, which was approximately three days away. When it was sent, I would be provided with a new tracking number. Over a month on, I am still waiting. I contacted Computershare via the web and kept receiving generic emails in response, and when I asked for the cheque to be deposited into my account, the web response team sent me brief information on how to do that. I followed their advice and opted in for international funds transfer; it has been four days and I have not received any information or even basic confirmation.
I have also contacted the Computershare Philippines call centres on multiple occasions; however, after several hours of my time in total, they were unable to assist.
It is ridiculous how this has been dragging on since February, as I believe, in fact, I know that this would have been resolved in any of the so-called third world countries. Based on this experience, there is no way I would onboard Computershare as a supplier as a responsible procurement professional.
Follow-up · It has been shockingly bad. the issue is still outstanding and i have not received the check or the digital transaction.

Very lousy company. Not with them by choice. Unable to update details, have been getting an error message on their website for a long time. Contacted their customer support, who are very unhelpful and transfer me around. Pretty basic request, yet they are unwilling to help.
Zero stars, as mentioned by many other contributors the "Change Communication Preferences" option has been out of service for over a year, seriously [Content Removed] ? Note that Computershare cannot update an email address AT ALL, so the first one you register with is the one you are stuck with FOREVER, their "solution" is to create a new profile… Read more
login and - get this - they send you an access code by SNAIL MAIL and only then are you allowed to update your profile details such as banking details Tax File numbers, email and contact preferences etc etc. May as Absolutely useless organization that shouldn't be responsible for a butter knife, let alone the personal data and the job of being a share registry service. All the ASX-listed companies that use this registry "service" are wasting their money.
Follow up - have now been receiving emails with "Dear Member Due to recent security improvements to Investor Centre, you need to create a new, unique username by 31 January 2026 to keep accessing your account. Your password stays the same." messages, when user copies and pastes the provided U Key into the CISCU UKey Login page with their existing password the request is rejected.
Absolute epic security and password incompetence from this company.
Impossible to update Communication Preferences in Personal Profile – For over a year I've been trying to update my communication preferences (as suggested by the companies I have investemnts with) and the same error message appears, as shown in the screenshot below. I have tried calling them but they are not interested in listening or even understanding the problem. Thinking it was perhaps a browser problem, I have tried on several computers and my iPhone as well, to no avail.
Utterly useless – This website simply doesn't work. I have no option but to use it to try to resolve a TFN issue - which should not have been dropped in the first place - but constantly get the same error message as others: "We regret that this service is temporarily unavailable. We appreciate your patience and shall endeavour to restore service as soon as… Read more

worst account manager – Seriously computershare you got to be kidding me why can't i access my account that is registered with the email and HIN before just because it's empty and now eventhouh i have new shares in that same HIN it's not showing in my portfolio and I have to create a new account and the registration is broken I have to repeat the whole thing again and again, TIME WASTER! Called you directly and the person on the phone wasn't helpful either!

Just incompetence. Don’t’ get shares through them it’s not worth the drama. I have been trying to sort out a deceased estate for months now and the number of forms you have to fill in is ridiculous, only to be told they weren’t filled in properly.… Read more
The lawyers tried to deal with the deceased estate only to wait months for replies and did not accept anything that was posted to them. My sister-in-law tried to sort out the deceased estate and again got messed around with no replies and hard to understand form. So, it’s now my turn and the number of times I have had to ring them to only get told something different over the phone of what info you need to send to them and what forms to fill in. Plus, they won’t accept any certified forms over email, so you must post everything. It’s a waste of time and effort. Then they weren’t happy with a certified Stat Dec by a JP, so they rejected the forms and have apparently sent all the original forms back to me, but they haven’t shown up in the post as they only sent it by regular mail. I’ve rang and they say nothing can be done you need to fill the forms in again or ring Australia Post but there is no tracking number as they sent it back by regular mail and it’s been over 4 weeks now. It’s a complete joke of any organisation and now I must do all the original forms again and waste more time and effort and get another stat dec done but this time on their stat dec form and get it certified by a JP and post them into them again. DON’T USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE UTTERLY HOPELESS. They are not user friendly, the amount of red tape you need to jump through its FRUSTRATING and they don’t use email for anything which is dumb in this day and age!!
Follow-up · After another month of trying to get the shares sorted and having to send all the original documents signed by a JP and all the forms filled in again. deliberately make it complex and difficult. Their grab for extra dollars is just criminal. Also, the public companies who use Computershare are been unnecessarily bled. They send out paperwork whoever and wherever - which is an unnecessary cost. I think the Board and management of this registry should hang their heads in shame.
Follow-up · Nothing has changed. No contact from the company. They did eventually credit the dividend to my bank account which they do know from 15 others companies I have with them…less a $25 fee! Disgraceful. Utterly disgraceful. They deserve to be outed by the public.
Positive reviews
I can only think these poor reviews are from a competitor or a number of them. My experience was nothing I would normally have expected from any online help/ support. Had my issues sorted so all good but antequated – Very poor processes and systems, cant blame the people but really not a very customer facing place to transact with, very very old fashioned. I would recommend stock plan with Morgan Stanley as a much better option

Had a dividend go to the wrong bank account despite it having been updated prior to payment. Finally computershare has the money back from the bank but they now say it will be 5 weeks til it is paid. I tried to find details of a dividend by Coles on 25/09/2024. I asked for a 2025 tax pack and received a 2024 tax pack. I tried again and it aborted. So I have been charged $10 and still do not have the dividend imputation credit. The chat bot referred me to a contact centre. Then it said information was missing and was unable to explain what was missing. This all took about half an hour.
This company is like a textbook definition of "grossly incompetent." I submitted POA documentation several times, and when I have called they have confirmed that the documentation is on file. until I submit POA documentation. Every time, I call them and they once again confirm that they have the POA documents on file -- but then I have to go through the process again of filling out forms, getting a nonsensical stamp from the bank on the forms, and resubmitting them - only to have them again tell me that they cannot process the forms because they are lacking POA documentation. I have struggled to sell these shares and close all Computershare accounts for at least four years, and they still will not comply.

I agree with the other negative comments. I advised Computershare of a new email address, then received with an email confirmation; then comes another letter from Investorcentre that they cannot get in touch with me and used the old email address. I also tried to add another share to the portfolio but never managed to actually activate it. They do not appear to be organised.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH LIVE CHAT! They told me they cannot do ANY transactions on any account via Live Chat, and they say you need to CALL THEM BY PHONE. Absolutely dreadful. comprehend and with no on-line help other than a chatbot which is a contender for the worst I have encountered. Of the five (!) separate individuals with whom I had contact the two on-line consultants were unable to help and of the three telephone contacts to whom they directed me the first provided information which did not jibe with the website, the second had a faulty 'phone and kept yelling at me in a thick accent and the third was aggressive and ill-tempered on those rare occasions when he was comprehensible. The matter remains unresolved (I am inclined to leave it that way) and there appears to be no avenue of complaint available. One cannot even avoid this bunch since the companies which use them appear to hand over all their business dealings - conceivably along with their souls - and attempts to telephone them directly are simply routed to Computershare and further anguish.
Should be 0 stars. Almost a month and still cannot add middle name in my portfolio. First they want Id, I send then they want certified ID. Then they say oh, you have error on the form, well why didn't you advise the first time. Now I have resend and wait days again while the market slips. No accountability
Incompetent workers, failed to mention I needed create a whole new account when changing my name. Pretty important detail to miss, my shares were inaccessible for an extra month due to this, as name changes and new account creations take time. When I spoke to the manager David about this, David did not care to help rectify the issue. Transferred my shares out quickly with the use of a broker as I needed to access them quickly.

I have had shares with them for 12 years and sold it recently and they stop my money transfer to Australia to authenticate me. Has taken 10 days so far and they want every personal information from me to release my money. I am not sure they will release my money at all. This is real scam and outdated web based stock trade company. stay away from them.
By far the worst and most dated company out there. I don’t understand how regulators allow them to operate as such. Everything is manual, customer service is horrendous and can’t execute promptly. They heavily rely on postal communication wasting time
Horrible company, scammers wanting to hold your shares for as long as possible by causing as much inconvenience as they can. 1. Every single update you make to your profile requires a code to be sent in the mail which only shows up half the time (they supposedly sent me 4 total letters in total with their ridiculous Personal Access Codes and… Read more
only 2 showed up). This never happens here with the post.
2. After you FINALLY update your details you have to wait another *14 CALENDAR DAYS* to transact or sell your shares which they will state is for security reasons.
3. Then once you finally get past their ridiculous, outdated and excessive amount of steps these thieves charge you $120 AUD just to sell your shares.
4. Customer service is horrible and virtually non-existent.
They justify this garbage by claiming that its for "security reasons" when its really just the company's lack of having a user-friendly security system presumably so they don't have to fork out the money to implement this and to hold your money as long as possible.
I'm surprised large financial insitutions partner with these thieves. I did not even wish to sell my shares but refuse to have any financial sum sitting with this horrible organisation.
As a seasoned Share Holder I have had years of frustration with Computershare with Logon problems that I never been able to overcome, unfortunately many Companies I invest with still deal with them
They are sending me an authentication code, apparently. So I check my phone, my email. No, its coming by MAIL, SNAIL MAIL. Last time they sent me a password reset code, it took so long to arrive, the time to reset my password had expired and I had to start again. I'm going elsewhere, these guys are beyond useless!
Very poor systems in place, keeps saying my verification is incorrect after having to submit the same correct ones twice, I would give a minus 5 if possible
Trying to update my personal information and they keep asking for more and more and more evidence - it’s easier to apply for a passport than update personal details with these lunatics. Why isn’t something done about the appalling service? Im so angry and they have my money. Are you kidding me??????
They dont even deserve any star. So many bad stories. whatever i need to do everything is super hard. All i want is just get rid of shares and wish never have to call them again. Super nightjmare.
