Comsol 2 Port HDMI Splitter

It works, but – Purchased from Officeworks for just under $50 to save cable swapping from a HD PVR between a TV (daytime viewing) and Projector (big screen for nighttime viewing). Both devices could remain connected and I’d just need to turn on the one I wanted to watch. While the video side worked OK, LPCM audio would randomly drop out making TV programs unwatchable. I had to keep stopping and restarting playback to get audio to return, or power-cycling the device (pretty slow to recover and not always effective). It happened at random but strangely not with Dolby Digital audio. Problem is that only HD TV channels & their recordings carry DD. SD channels output LPCM audio. Returned 1st unit and tried a second unit. Whilst it was slightly less frequent, the same thing would randomly happen. Resolution setting didn’t make any significant difference. Something about its intelligent scaling/reclocking causes problems. Returned the 2nd unit and swapped for a cheaper 2-way Bi-Directional HDMI switch which appears to be a passive device. Problem solved! Buyer beware: if you experience any HDMI audio dropouts, return it immediately to avoid ongoing angst. Otherwise it’s a cost effective device that can also down-scale 4k to 1080 FHD if required.
