This is without question the worst bed purchase I have ever made, and the customer service experience from both Sealy and David Jones Macquarie Centre was equally disappointing. My husband and I purchased two Sealy mattresses from David Jones Macquarie Centre after relying on the salesperson's recommendation that they represented the latest sleep… Read more
technology and would provide superior comfort and support. Having previously owned traditional coil mattresses without issue, we trusted this advice and invested in what was promoted as a premium sleep solution.
We gave the mattresses every opportunity to work. For almost four months, we persisted in trying to adjust to them, swapped between the firm and plush versions, and genuinely tried everything possible to make them comfortable. Instead, both mattresses caused ongoing back discomfort, poor sleep quality, and inadequate support. When sitting or lying on them, we felt ourselves sinking excessively toward the base rather than receiving the support expected from a premium mattress.
The situation became so bad that we eventually stopped sleeping on the mattresses altogether and moved into our spare room because we could not sleep comfortably on either mattress.
When I returned to David Jones Macquarie Centre seeking assistance, I was directed to Sealy. This led to months of emails, phone calls, photographs, and an in-home inspection. After fully cooperating with every request, Sealy advised that the mattresses met manufacturing specifications and that no fault had been found. They then advised that any exchange or store credit would have to come from the retailer.
The most frustrating part was being passed back and forth between David Jones and Sealy. Neither company appeared willing to take ownership of the problem or provide a meaningful resolution, despite the fact that the mattresses were clearly unsuitable for our needs and had effectively become unusable.
To add insult to injury, after spending thousands of dollars on two premium mattresses, the only compensation offered by David Jones was $25. After months of inconvenience, discomfort, disrupted sleep, moving into a spare room, and completing an extensive assessment process, this felt more insulting than helpful.
While the mattresses may technically meet specification, that does not change the reality that they have delivered the worst sleep experience we have ever had. Equally disappointing has been the complete lack of meaningful customer care from both companies.
For a premium mattress brand and a major retailer, I expected far better service and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.
I would not purchase another Sealy mattress, nor would I recommend purchasing one through David Jones Macquarie Centre based on my experience.
Pros: None. Cons: Poor support, back pain, inability to sleep comfortably, lengthy complaints process, being passed between retailer and manufacturer, and an insulting $25 compensation offer.
Be very wary about ordering online from David Jones. I ordered two items from the website three days ago as they were showing as in stock -- no suggestion otherwise. I received an email today saying "your order is still being processed" which sounded ominous to me. I contacted the online customer service querying my order and was told "our online… Read more
stock levels are based on information our vendors system provides to our own system. So our website goes off the information provided by the vendor and if the vendor does not have accurate inventory that is when the items are unfortunately cancelled." This is blatant deceptive advertising -- they advertise an item in stock on the website but they don't know if they can sell it to you until they check with the vendor. And in the meantime your credit card has been charged? Very shonky practice. And when I managed to do some digging and find out the actual customer service number it comes up as Ali Baba on my phone???? So unprofessional.
The David Jones store in Brisbane stops letting people in at least half an hour before closing, even if it's for a last-minute quick item purchase. No wonder retail is dying in Australia, with these department stores seeing a quick decline. What's the point? What's more, there's no way to give David Jones direct feedback about this on their website. When these companies finally inevitably close, it'll be their own doing. Show details

I am dismayed by the obvious and intentional violation of Australian Consumer Law at David Jones Malvern Central. would take. It is now four days since [Name Removed] said he would update me, and he has made no effort to do so. He clearly only told me it would be resolved in a reasonable amount of time to get me to go away. [Name Removed] also falsely claimed that anything that can be repaired is not a major fault, and therefore I had to just accept whatever nonsense they wanted me to go through to make a legitimate claim. That is a direct violation of Australian Consumer Law. I will now have to escalate to Fair Trading to get them to comply with the law.
Ironically, I bought the robot vacuum from a brick and mortar store because I wanted the reassurance of in-person warranty claims and a company that complies with Australian Consumer Law. But from now on I will buy for cheaper from Amazon where both the customer service is better and the prices are cheaper. I will cheer David Jones' impending and inevitable bankruptcy, since their morals are bankrupt already.

I ordered a Valentino Earring with swarovski rhinestone at David Jones thinking it will be the same earring i ordered from Valentino itself online, because collection point of DHL Valentino’s courier is far if i missed delivery. wasn’t an earring, judge from the photos itself compared to the one i ordered from Valentino. I even checked both product number and they are not the same. Surely if theirs is from Valentino it would have the same serial or product number. I complained online but as usual you talk to a virtual assistant. So i went at David Jones and looked on their return policy. Well i don’t wanna go in the city, way too far from me, but if i return it online, i have to pay for the postage. Terrible customer service, and i am a regular customer. Please let this be a warning to everybody ordering online. Easy return? A total lie! And i ordered such an expensive item. I should complain David Jones to Valentino office itself for the kind they were selling their product. I enclosed both photos - one in the long box is From Valentino, the one in small box is David Jones, and i included also 2 close up shots of the earring from David Jones and one close up shots from Valentino and you will see the big difference. And DAVID JONES WANTS ME TO PAY FOR THE POSTAGE TO RETURN AN ITEM WHICH WAS THEIR MISTAKE! Compared to other known brands online, they offer free returns but not David Jones. Total nightmare! Please take note before ordering from David Jones online.

I recently purchased a Charles & Keith bag from your online store as a birthday gift, however I am really disappointed with the condition it arrived in. I was also disappointed that the bag was not wrapped or packaged properly when it arrived, which made the overall presentation feel poor for a new item purchased as a gift.

Lesson learned do not ever purchase from this store again. Worst experience ever!! Purchased a dress for a function with 8 weeks to event. Said dress never left dispatch and could not get an answer from anyone.. started asking for a refund and all you ever got was sms text messages but never spoke to a real person. till 11am but would i seek other assistance and i replied yes. It then sends you a link to their CONTACT US page but guess what - nowhere on this page can you actually contact them, there is no email, there is a series of FAQs but no link to follow up an order unless you open an account (who would after this stuffing around but too late AFTER an order anyway). They have a nice line on this page it says "For live support, please visit the Contact Us page on our website to connect with Customer Care." but we are already on that page and when you click CONTACT US - you come back to the same place. Interestingly it says customer care opens at 9.30am. These idiots dont have the customer interest at all. And when you call them (after 9.30) i gave up after 40 minutes as there is no callback feature. David Jones customer care doesnt exist! I tried again at 1 pm and the phone actually cutout after an hour! I DO NOT RECOMMEND DAVID JONES FOR CUSTOMER CARE OR ONLINE - DO NOT GO NEAR. And finally the customer feedback link - it doesnt have email either, they only accept it in writing to Level 21-22 Melbourne Quarter Two 697 Collins Street Docklands, VIC 3008 Australia They just want to make life hard - and yes they debited our funds from our credit card and have not delivered the items ordered over a week ago.....we live in same city as the store and we still dont have the receipt for the purchase

Absolutely disgusting, non-existing customer service from DJ online. I order an expensive Guerlain beauty set, and received a confirmation email with the picture of the product (same as the pic on the website). Today I picked up the parcel from the… Read more
Parcel Locker, and I was shocked by the big size of the box, filled up with packing paper, and in the middle there was the small box of the beauty set. But I've got a wrong set of the same brand, not the one ordered, nor the one pictured in the confirmation email, and the item number on the packing slip is wrong as well. Moreover, the received beauty set is not even listed on DJ website; I know because I check often their web for this brand. Contacting DJ is a nightmare, there is no customer service by phone, the live email chat is a joke, you chat exclusively with a bot, then you receive a txt on the phone that you will be able to chat by txt in 48 hours, really?? I check DJ policies for returning an item, and off course they expect you to pay for sending back the parcel, justified "as change of mind". However this is their mistake, not my change of mind!! Every online shopping brand that I buy from, if they make a mistake they apologize and send by email a return label for free shipping to be attached to the parcel, except DJ. I am appalled that this "mistake" from DJ is a constant issue, I read dozens and dozens of customers reviews who have experienced the same situation, receiving wrong items. I have purchased from DJ online for over 12 years, and had never have any issues before. It is obvious that DJ has decided to go cheaper, removing any chance for customers to contact them by email or by phone as it was before, and I believe that their online order departments and warehouses are managed by incompetents, inexperienced staff in order of saving costs. After reading from other reviews that it can take 30 days or more for the refund and the return shipping would be at my cost, (plus it would cost me time off from work to go to the post office!), I have decided to keep the wrong set as I love Guerlain brand. However, I will request from DJ the price difference refunded, because the retail price of the wrong Guerlain set I received is lower than the set I ordered. DJ is gone down the hill since the partnership with Latitude, an awful financial company. I will update my review if I don't receive a refund for the price difference and I will report DJ to the Consumer Affairs.
Follow-up · Update: After "only" 16 days DJ replied to my email, which includes all the pictures. They apologized and offered me a refund of 20% of the cost of the set, which I accepted, as it cover the cost difference between the set ordered and the one received (the refund was back on my card few days after). Moreover, in the same email DJ customer… Read more

10:00 AM, I visited the clothing section to look at a $379.00 cardigan. My plan was to buy it online so I could responsibly use the PayPal 'Pay in 4' option to manage my budget. An Asian female sales assistant approached me and aggressively pressured me to buy it in-store. When I explained my reasoning, she explicitly lied, claiming she could process the PayPal installments directly at her register. Instead, she immediately scanned the item and told me to tap my card to charge me the full $379.00 upfront. When I caught her in this trick, she falsely claimed that PayPal would "refund me the difference in two weeks."When I refused to be misled and stated that I needed my funds today, she had the audacity to insult me by asking: "Oh, so you want all your money today? "This remark was highly disrespectful, dismissive, and an outright insult to a customer's financial choices. It is clear that David Jones places extreme pressure on retail staff to hit sales targets, driving them to use toxic, deceptive tactics and personal shaming just to secure a commission. I am deeply disappointed by this brand's culture and lack of basic professionalism.
Follow-up · The saleswoman reacted awkwardly and felt like she was going to get into trouble, but it wasn't her fault; it's the store's policy that puts pressure on the sales staff, forcing them to resort to this kind of behavior. I felt uncomfortable for choosing to prioritize my most important needs, which is why I didn't buy the cardigan from that store, but instead bought it from a physical store using four interest-free installments.

Before you buy Sheridan sheets from David Jones, make sure you read the fine print carefully. I ordered what was clearly advertised as a King Single Sheet Set, expecting it to include a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcase, as most sheet sets do. When my order arrived, I discovered the “set” consisted of only a fitted sheet and a pillowcase.… Read more
After checking the product description again, the fine print did state this, but the main advertising simply referred to it as a “sheet set,” which I found misleading.
To make matters even more confusing, other Sheridan sheet sets on the David Jones website include a fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcase, so there is no consistency in what they call a “sheet set.”
I’ll be returning these because I need the flat sheet as well. What disappointed me even more was the complete lack of care or concern from the David Jones online customer service team. There was no attempt to acknowledge how confusing the product description was or to provide any meaningful assistance.
Buyers beware—don’t assume a sheet set includes all the standard pieces. Read every detail before ordering. Based on this experience, I won’t be buying Sheridan products again, and I also won’t be purchasing from David Jones online again due to their poor customer service.
