Cold nights – Used my Denali 500 on the Bibbulmun track. On very cold nights +2 to -2. I froze my rear end off, even with thermal underwear and jacket on top of me.

Purchased in at Anaconda.

Denali sleeping bags - Misleading Temperature Rating – I recently purchased and took the Denali Capsule 500 sleeping bag on a 2 week hike to central Australia. I bought it specifically as it had a comfort rating of minus 4 degrees. The bag feels nice, but it didn't perform in the cold weather. Temperatures went down to zero some nights and I was extremely cold. I exchanged bags one night with a group member who had a different brand bag rated at minus 2 degrees comfort, he had been very warm. When using his other bag I was also very warm, my friend was very cold when he used the Denali Capsule 500. If the Denali Capsule 500 was rated at say plus 6 degrees comfort rating it would get 5 stars.

FYI another group member who had a different brand bag rated at plus 3 degrees comfort rating was warm throughout the trip and just slept in underwear. Both other group members bags were tested to EN13157, I couldn't find the basis of the Denali bag testing.
