Dettol Washing Machine Cleaner

Smell was all good for me, only issue was the foam explosion. Unfortunately for me I set it overnight so was met by a soaking wet floor this morning.

Horrible product, do not use. The other reviews that say that the washing machine will overflow with foam are correct. Also super wasteful as it is single use. And the smell is very persistent after. Avoid please. Show details

avoid like the plague – Can I give zero stars??? Should have read the reviews here first! My machine exploded with foam less than 10mins into cleaning cycle. "5 in 1 clean" because it cleans your whole laundry too! Show details

Foam foam and more foam! – I am just glad I checked the washing cycle after adding the cleaner, to see the machine completely 'engulfed' in foam. My only alternative was to remove the filter to drain out the mess and watch my half price Detol cleaner go down the drain! I actually did not mind the scent, but if you want to make a mess of your machine, (and the laundry) go well ahead and purchase this rubbish. Nasty chemical smell – Smell gives instant headache but did not think as bad as some other reviewers but then my LG machine is in the garage. It would not run its first selected program after using the product, but did on the 2nd attempt, on a different program. I can see why people don't like the rotting citrus fruit smell.

DO NOT BUY – We bought this just to clean out our washing machine. We followed the instructions, and we are now left with a disgusting smelling washing machine. Hideous smell after use – I have use Dettol 5 in 1 washing machine cleaner for the first and last time. The chemicals in this product have left a terrible smell which has permeated my house. to wear a mask when entering the laundry. This product, made in Portugal should carry more warning messages as it can cause serious health issues.

2 bottles? – Purchased a bottle of this to run through my machine. When I went to use it, it informed me in the tiny print on the back that I need 2 bottles for a top loader! everything I purchase with a magnifying glass! Also what a con! Once you've purchased one bottle you are locked in to having to purchase a second one. Not me. I'll be returning the first one & will go back to using vinegar & dish liquid to clean my machine which works fine. After reading the reviews of some others, I think I might have been lucky I didn't use it.

Great product – Dettol washing machine cleanser does a great job on my machine. I would and do recommend it. All door and drum scum is gone and it smells very fresh. Better than a previous brand I had used. Show details

Worked well – I have used a couple of these types of products which left machine still smelling damp and mouldy . The dettol one has left machine with a fresh citrus smell. Did not have the trouble other reviewers mentioned . I have a fisher/ Paykel front loader . I would note that with this one you put the cleaner in the detergent drawer not directly in the drum .  Show details

Leaves a musty mouldy smell – Ran the cleaner thru the machine exactly as the bottle suggested. After the cycle the machine and entire room had a hideous smell that I couldn't get rid of. Even after I ran the machine through a number of loads. I rang the company to let them know but they weren't all that helpful. She told me to run an empty load with a scented soap. Buyer beware! – I used Dettol 5 in 1 Washing Machine Cleaner for the first and last time today. I followed the instructions to the letter. Cleaned the detergent drawer and the door seals with a diluted solution and then added the rest of the bottle. including the drawer. The water had flooded the laundry area and my hall carpet. I stopped the cycle and put it on a spin cycle and emptied the water, then had to do a rinse cycle to get rid of the excess suds. Aside from the inconvenience I would question whether the instructions are correct on the label? Obviously a whole bottle is far too much detergent and what is worse, the overspill of 40c or 90c water could scald anyone who tries to mop up the deluge. I am not impressed and won't be purchasing this product again.
