Yes good to start with Bike is good for smooth trail runs No jumps or big downhill runs

No they aren't lockable but it will suit both well enough.
The component attaching the rear gearing cartridge to the frame snapped in an accident. How can I replace it. It's a small silver arm
It's called a derailleur hanger, google it and many options will come up.
Thanks. I managed to get one fitted, then it broke again damaging the rear cartridge .I replaced it with a Shamano. Then the bearing in the pedals seems worn and started making a clicking sound which can’t be safe. This is clearly an inferior cycle which my son can no longer use. I’m very disappointed!
Can you send drops also The rear and front suspension is really stiff and every time I pull up and it goes back down there’s a big thud and the rear suspension just doesn’t move

Probably - I am 110kg and it's fine - bounce up & down a bit to be sure maybe :-)

Turk241 - Porkys it has adjustable suspension! I have this bike myself and I find the suspension terrible along with the saddle and I am searching the net for a adjustable rear shock and some new front forks. After I have what I want which will be more likely worth more than the bike it should be tip-top.
Is it worth it for trail riding?
All depends on what trail riding you do and how much you want to spend... you can tootle along a trail on a $50 second hand bike or you can blast along on a $4000 specialist built racer... all I am saying is this is a nice bike for the price. Recommend you have a look around (in shops or online) and you will see...
