I went for an ECG test and the practitioner on site advised that something is not right with the test and I'd likely need to redo it. I went back to the doctor and the doctor specifically noted on the dorevitch form that the first test was faulty (not fault of mine). I went to Boxhill on Thursday 14th May, and the test was successful (no defective… Read more

device). I received a link to an invoice which I paid and I have confirmation of payment for. Today I received a new link to make payment and when I followed up, it seems the invoice generated on Thursday, was actually for the first defective test. Now im out of pocket for the defective test and the invoice I thought it was paying is not paid. I called to request they assign the payment to the right account and I was told " we will try", not clear indication of what they will do and I have requested they assign the payment to the right invoice. The call centre person did not want to provide a reference to this call. Now I am waiting for my results that I paid for to be released and now there is no clear reconciliation and correction process. I want this resolved as a matter of urgency, as my medical care is dependent on the results of the test.

I am genuinely angry writing this, because what my wife experienced at Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield was not just inconvenient or careless, it was dehumanising, thoughtless, and completely unacceptable. We attended this clinic to undertake a 24‑hour urine test. The staff looked at the referral, looked at the tests required, and handed us what… Read more

appeared to be a 3‑litre juice container with a tiny ~2cm opening. That was it. No instructions. No transfer container. No funnel. No explanation. Nothing. We left, confused and stunned, assuming we must be missing something, surely there must be additional equipment or written instructions in the bag. There was nothing. Let me be very clear: it is physically unrealistic, unsafe, and humiliating to expect someone with a vagina to urinate directly into a large 3‑litre jug with a tiny opening. This should not need explaining to any medical professional. Even as a male, I know that this is not how human anatomy works. Because Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield gave us zero guidance, we were forced to Google how to perform the test ourselves. The fact that a medical diagnostic company left patients to figure this out via the internet is staggering. I returned to the Fairfield clinic, waited 30 minutes, and asked how my wife was expected to use this container. The response was shocking, the staff member gestured with her hands and demonstrated that my wife should squat and shove the large 3‑litre jug between her legs and “just pee into it.” That was it. No acknowledgement of how ridiculous or undignified this was. No alternative offered. I left, stunned, and went to a chemist, who, unlike this pathology clinic, showed basic human understanding and competence. They helped me find a universal device so my wife could urinate comfortably and safely, and we could then use to transfer into the jug. But it gets worse. The following day, we attended Dorevitch Pathology Northcote (we did not want to go back to Fairfield) to submit the sample and complete other tests. They reviewed the referral and immediately told us that the container Fairfield gave us was wrong. We had completed the incorrect 24‑hour urine test. At this point, my wife broke down in tears. She had already been made to feel humiliated, unsupported, and dismissed and now we found out that the Fairfield clinic hadn’t even provided the correct container in the first place. The emotional toll of this was enormous and completely avoidable. In stark contrast, the team at Dorevitch Pathology Northcote were outstanding. They were apologetic, compassionate, and competent. They provided the correct container, supplied a transfer cup, gave a funnel, provided clear, printed instructions, treated my wife like a human being who deserves dignity. This is the minimum standard of care. This is what Fairfield failed so spectacularly to provide. Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield demonstrated a complete lack of, basic understanding of female anatomy, clinical competence, empathy or patient dignity. No one, especially someone already dealing with a lot in their lives, should be subjected to this level of incompetence and humiliation. Avoid Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield. If you must go to Dorevitch, go to Northcote, where they actually seem to understand both medicine and humanity.

Poor service – Terrible experience I have had many blood tests at Dorevitch in the past without issue, but the last visit has been truely disgraceful. Low ethical standards – Overpriced medical centers system(dorevitch pathology / specially healius pathology) can be a significant burden on patients, often charging exorbitant fees for services that might not justify the cost. blood tests (long term condition requires regular monitoring). While I made a point of seeking reassurance that the laboratory results would be uploaded to the Government funded My Health Record as requested on the form (note the testing process is also government funded). The phlebotomist assured me that she had noted the request and also annotated the record on the computer with additional request stressing that I wanted the result up loaded. Note: other labs, if you stress the request, generally upload the results free of charge.

Two months later, not having received the results I wrote to Dorevitch asking if they could send them to me. They said they would but that I would have to pay them an additional $25. I did a bit of research on the Australian Government websites and it appears that going forward from about June 2026 labs will be compelled to upload results ot the My health Record system but until that time there is no compulsion to do so.

I contend that, given that the My Health Record system has been live for many many years now, any laboratory that had the best interests of patients at heart would be uploading results as a matter of course but at very least would upload them on specific request from the patient. To refuse to do so without payment seems like a cynical attempt to extort money from the patient for a service that is already in effect paid for.

Attempted to Charge Me Twice – Concerning Practices Reluctantly, I had to use Dorovitch again because my specialist only provided a blood test form for them. When I arrived, I was told the test would cost $90. I paid on the spot and assumed everything was settled—thankfully, I asked for a printed invoice. A week later, I received a text saying I… Read more

owed $70 for the same test I had already paid for. When I called to clarify, they asked for the invoice number and I was told, “Apologies for the inconvenience, the system did not 'allocate' the invoice.” When I asked how their system could fail to register my payment yet still recognise that I completed the test, they had no explanation.

I also questioned why I was charged $90 initially but was now being invoiced $70 for the identical service. The only answer offered was a vague mention of a “collection fee,” which didn’t make sense and wasn’t explained properly.

When I requested to speak with a manager about the price discrepancy, I was put on hold. The same staff member eventually returned to say they had “spoken to a manager” and that I would be refunded the $20 difference—still without any clear explanation. It seems likely I was overcharged initially, and that the $70 invoice was automatically issued under the assumption I hadn’t paid on the day.

At this point, I genuinely suspect they may be overcharging customers or attempting to double-bill, especially since many people may not question it or may not have an invoice for proof—something I suspect they rely on. This is the second issue I’ve had with them, and both experiences have been incredibly frustrating. My other review is also available on here if you’d like to read it.

I do not recommend them. And if you have no choice but to use them, make sure you get your invoice printed.

I was at Dorevitch in Drummond Street, Ballarat early saturday morning. The room was full which was no issue, no numbers to take so I just sat down, an elderly gentleman came in just after me,there was a sign that said ring bell on arrival which he did. that dam bell we know you are here. The room just looked at each other in shock, then the door opened and the staff member stood in the door way and said to if you ring that bell one more time I will punch you in the face, and ranted on. Then just shut the door it took us a few seconds to comprehend on what we all just heard. Never have I been so disgusted in this behaviour. I have since learned that there have multilple complainsts about this staff member, but yet she still here she is. Unfortunatly I never got to see her face,so to know who to look out for next time. Why have you let this behaviour go when multiple complaints have been made. Are you condoning such behaviour and now threats to customers. It wont be hard for you to find out this staff member as there is only a couple on saturdays. If she didnt want the bell to be rung then put the board away with the bell on it and there would no issues. But that what the board clearly stated to do. Hopefully there is action taken towards this staff member. The one star is not what I actually thought of the experience, but apparantly I had to tick one of them.

under, the lousy pay ($28 per hour I believe). I have learnt that you always need to check that they are open before making the journey there, as they can be closed at very short notice.

I had a referral for a Holter monitor for 24 hours

1. The one and only Holter monitor at Torquay was not available due to a faulty cable, and I was told it would be a long time before it was back. Dorevitch should have spares for such situations, and more than one monitor at Torquay 2. I booked online for a monitor at Geelong, a 40 minute drive from my place. Got a message at 7:30am on the morning I was due to go in saying they were closed 3. Got an appointment for the next day and went in. Very good and nice technician who was working in very difficult conditions. Had to deal with numerous door knocks from anxious people as they arrived to wait their turn while attending to patients as there is no form of reception. When I went in I learnt that the monitor had been double booked, yet they only have one. Clearly a problem with the online booking system. The technician had to ring the other patient using his own phone as the Dorevitch phone wasn’t working. 3. I was due to go in the next morning to have the monitor removed after 24 hours, but Dorevitch was closed yet again at short notice 4. I went in the next morning, was informed by reception of the medical centre that no one was there. They tested the side door which was open, so I went in and removed the monitor (had to get it off as I had an appointment for a stress test that morning). Reception informed me that the Dorevitch courier would be coming so I took the SIM card out of the monitor (luckily I had learnt about that from the technician) and put it in the plastic bag with my paperwork and gave it to the medical centre reception to give to the courier.

Dorevitch needs to improve conditions for its front end staff (the people who collect the blood etc) and attract more staff to provide a more reliable service. If equipment is faulty it should be replaced immediately. They should also have more Holter monitors available
