The app works for me – The Dr Weight app pairs with it, plus one called AiFit works too. I assume the scales are accurate, but who knows? I am recessive obese apparently. The app doesn't explain what this means so I take it I'm a fat cow with normal BMI. Show details

very good! – Very pleased with this scale! No problem to download Dr Weight app, connected instantly. Now only Bluetooth is required to use this comprehensive scale. My friends all use it too, as the app allows to add up more people. I am 160cm, 47 kg. Responding to the previous reviewer: I am skinny, but still have about 10 kg of fat in my body. It sits right… Read more

Waste of money and time – This scale doesn't pair with the app so it just can be used as a conventional scale. This product is not worth the money and definetly wasted my time not just purchasing it but also trying to set it up.  Show details

Disastrously hopeless. Clearly flawed, unsophisticated equipment and dodgy algorithms. Only 2 metabolic ages, 41 and 56 – Body fat analyser is way out. Claims I have 20kg of fat and I'm active with weights, martial arts, running marathons, male of 185cm height and total weight 78kg. Where am I hiding 20kg of fat? Show details

Useless software which doesn’t work – Scales are supposed to use an App called Dr Weight on your phone with Bluetooth to write body analysis data to your Apple Health Kit on iPhone. The app is broken and you cannot setup an account by any method. Or get any help with it. If you click help/developer website you get a webpage with a few Chinese code characters which translate as… Read more

“unauthorised access”. Which makes the scales an overpriced digital readout scales. Will sadly be returning scales for a refund.

Weighs you. That's about it – TLDNR- Scales are nice, but the software they depend on is not reliable. Here's what the associated software devs say about their product, without which the body analysis scales can't do body analysis (so it is part of the product-just the part you have already paid for and now have to download): "Enjoy your experience with Dr. Weight and find… Read more

I count at least 6 grammatical/syntax mistakes and one invented word. Couldn't they have chucked a few $ in the general direction of a proof reader/ copy editor? I'd like to offer my services. Such literate! Trust rates!

This makes the app look bargain basement/low quality. But does it actually work? Created several dummy profiles of various ages/genders, all with same height/weight. Measured self under each profile, all in same timeslot, all conditions identical (clothes, location)

Even profiles of same age, gender, weight, height got wildly varying results in some parameters. There were patterns where similar data were rated (good, bad, high, low etc) similarly by gender, but if you change gender in the profile, the rating stays the same, so 'bad' as a male if it had been bad as a female. Seems like you can get logic/ consistency, sort of, on creating new profiles of whatever gender, but not if you change profiles from one gender to the other.

Metabolic ages were 38 for a 106 year old male, and 31 year old male and female. Metabolic ages were 63 for a 51 year old male and female, and stayed 63 when ages were changed to 31 (and vice versa) despite all other data being the same.

On the other hand, ratings of excellent became bad and vice versa across metabolism and nutrient parameters, if you changed gender.

So the output adjusts in some categories and not others. Seems buggy and unreliable. Best just use the scales to weigh stuff and forget about all the other dodgy detail.

Good Buy – I bought this Aldi special on its day of release on 26 Jan 2019. It was a replacement for a Bluetooth connected scale (Blue Anatomy) which had always had problems and now the supplier seems to have folded. My requirement was a smartphone connected scale to enable easy recording and tracking of body weight as an incentive for weight reduction.… Read more

Accuracy, repeatability and ease of use were my main requirements.

You need to download an app from either Google or Apple to enable the scale to record and analyse. If used as a straight scale it only displays the weight directly on its own screen and it is not recorded.

The connection to the smartphone is excellent - it's not via Bluetooth which is often flaky to use and setup. This device uses WiFi direct which connects automatically and instantly every time you step on the scale and the phone is nearby with the app running.

There is no obvious automatic calibration either which is a bit of a worry. Most electronic scales need to be started up via a tap and then they set their zero level before you can step on and weigh yourself. With these scales you step straight on and wait for about 4 secs during which the weight is settled and the electrical measuring current is sent through your bare feet, the various body analysis parameters are calculated and then sent to the smartphone.

Readout of the analysis parameters is only via the smartphone. Only weight is displayed directly on the scales own screen.

I compared the weight with that measured by my older WeightWatchers scales over a week. The Aldi consistently indicated about 0.7 kg higher and the variability between the 2 readings was between 0.6 to 0.8 kg. I considered this to be very good for a sub $50 scale. Note that I could not discern which was the more accurate without using special calibrated test weights so this was strictly a comparison.

There are 16 other parameters it purports to measure and record including BMI, % fat etc etc. I'm not sure how accurate these readings are and there's no way for me to test them. However they can all be referenced in a database kept in your phone and all are trendable. The app is quite good although it doesn't allow you to exo[prt any of the data for say other analysis or graphing functions.

I rate this scale as very good value for money. very easy to use and seemingly accurate in the weight measurements.

I've only had it for 1 week so reliability has not been assessed yet.
