The project was completed in 8 just weeks including the paving and the pool fencing which was impressive so we added more to the build with a new driveway. Nothing was ever a hassle and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. These guys don’t do lots of projects but focus on the big ones like ours and we couldn’t be happier with how the project was delivered. On budget, on time and with a smile.

All the trades were first class and always cleaned up after themselves which we appreciate. Lucy in the office always kept us updated and helped us with our selections so it's a great team both on and off site.

Best pool ever – Ecozen (and Poolfab) have just completed our amazing "half out of ground" concrete pool. It looks AMAZING! Chris is an absolute wealth of knowledge and was so helpful not just with the pool, but helped us with the other trades as well. Ecozen/PoolFab = RUN AWAY! – First of all be aware that the "pool builder of the year" thing is as dodgy as they are. I called SPASA who award them this as I was shocked based on my experience and they told me that they self nominate...so they nominated themselves, for all the awards, and they "won" because of the volume etc they do, not because of any form of quality. the review - Every...single...step was just painful! Don't even consider them.

Step 1 - Layout - They didn't allow enough slab for a pool gate and the pool fence (kind of necessary). I picked it up prestart and were told no probs we'll fix it. Step 2 - Dig day - The actual owner [Name Removed] (very cocky and rude) marked the pool and surrounds out. I reminded him at the start there was an issue with the layout re pool gate and he said no worries...then still marked it out incorrectly. I pointed it out and rather than say "gee thanks, you saved us some dramas" I was told it would now be a variation of over $1000 (for 200mm of concrete) and that if I didnt agree to it he would send the excavator back and charge me for it. He also said "mate why dont you let me be the project manager and you just enjoy your new pool"...all while messing up the markout... Step 3 - Excavation - We were forecast for rain for 2 weeks and I asked to just delay rather than risk collapses. They promised me it would be dug on Wednesday and concreted Friday avoiding that. Yeah, that didn't happen and the pool sides all collapsed in and they wanted to charge me to redig it... Step 4 - Plumbing - All the plumbing had to be redone by professionals we engaged as, to quote them, "this is the worst we've ever seen". We had 9 90degree bends from the heat pump to the chlorinator...should be about 3 tops (which is how it was redone). They also put the chlorinator below the top of the filter, this apparently can cause gas to become trapped and can be quite dangerous. Plumbing was done by their head builder mind you...words can't explain how much effort we had to go to to get this fixed... Step 5 - swim jets - we had $8500 swim jets installed... they installed them crooked, compromising their effectiveness. Concreted in, cant fix...

I could go on and on about how they ruined the new chlorinator and needed to fix it, how the overflow pipe wasn't installed correctly making it useless, how their staff kept urinating on my house and over the time they took to build it has stained my house and smelled terrible. How they are amazing when selling you their crap, always responding to emails etc, then literally the moment you pay the deposit and sign you suddenly cannot get a hold of the anyone.

They made something that should have been exciting and for us to look forward to the most painful, frustrating and stressful reno/trade experience we've had (and we've renovated and flipped 5 houses). This was supposed to be our "forever" home. Now I cant stand to look at the pool and we're selling...

Overall, not great experience – Also known as ecofab pools, we signed a contract in March 2021 with directions to commence anytime they want to ensure pool is completed by that summer. The design and consultation process went well and there were some really good suggestions in design. We dug the hole in late July 2021, completed in Jan2022. timeline or we would have started earlier. Some issues we faced: - serious questions around excessive dig fees. Don't think it was the company ripping us off, it was their subcontractors. There was a small attempt to look into it, but it got too hard for them, and we had to wear the cost. - after the 1st pour of concrete we were advised they would be back in 4 weeks. It took 12 weeks and alot, alot of chasing to get that to happen. - little quality issues that although minor, just demonstrated a lack of attention to detail. These included: - pouring concrete slab slightly too short so that the tiles had overhang and risk breaking. They pack the underneath with concrete to counter. - pouring slab 30mm too short from fence line so that it didn't meet pool gap compliance. I had to rectify. - waterline tiles. When preping the surface, they didn't allow for the full sheet of tiles to be fitted, 2 rows short meaning a waste of tiles which we paid for. - fence fittings fell apart and rusted immidately. They put me in contact with the subcontractor and wanted me to organise the rectification. Never got fixed, did it myself. - Pool pump seazied on start up. They replaced it but it was due to glue from pipes entering impeller, showing poor workmanship.

Overall, a terrible experience and very stressful. Communication was hopeless, often ad hoc and clearly no real reliable schedule being followed, just flying by the seat of their pants.

Towards the end, they just stopped addressing my questions and sent the final invoices. We had enough of each other by that stage!

Pros: Good designs. The designer is being wasted there. She should go out on her own and stick with that. Any company can build the pool.

Cons: Unprofessional, disorganised and unreliable. Questionable quality and communication was horrible.

Verdict: Simply not worth the risk when spending so much $$, so find another builder. Not sure how they are still operating, good thing they don't rely on repeat work.

Only reason we give them 2 stars is that we were lucky to have the pool completed – As many of the more recent experience, it has been a nightmare of incompetence and total absence of project management,both technically with no planning and humanely with no visit to site when required.some of their sub contractors were good ,and we manage to get it completed after 7 months for a small 4x6 rectangle pool with no weather rock or… Read more
