I can't believe I threw away $500 on this useless printer – Purchased when they were first released I had high hopes for this printer but those hopes were very short lived. The set-up process was easy in every respect but the fun stopped there. I purchased this model for photo printing primarily & quickly realised that the image quality was not great & it was very slow to print. Within a few weeks the… Read more
images had developed lines throughout & no amount of cleaning cycles would fix it. I contacted Epson & was told to do all the things I had already done to no effect so I took Epsons advice & repeated the process with no success until the eventually I gave up. I spoke to several printer service people who invariably told me it was not fixable & that I might as well bin it. But it cost me so much money I just had to find a way to fix it but never could & it has sat on my desk ever since gathering dust. I'm not a wealthy man & I get upset whenever I think of the money Iost to Epsom over this very expensive and unusable printer. I cannot recommend any Epsom product after my experience with firstly their printer & secondly their dismissive attitude to my problem. As stated above I'm not a wealthy person & saved money for a long time for what was supposed to be a quality product. Unfortunately it seems I chose very poorly and lost my money to this utterly useless printer. Never again Epson.
Absolute rubbish – Worst printer I have ever owned or used. Not intuitive, cumbersome to use and the biggest pain in the rear is if you don't print often you have to constantly clean the nozzle heads because it stops working. Not sure if its because ink dries up or what the reason behind having to do this everytime is, but I paid a lot of money for something that… Read more
should work better and it doesn't. It is by far, the worst piece of IT equipment I have ever owned and used.
What a rip off – I purchased a EPSON ET 2500 printer about 5 years ago - the reason I chose it was because it used liquid ink, not toner. What I didn't know at the time was that the ink pads need replacing (around about now), you cannot purchase the pads, you have to have the machine serviced. Guess what, the only place in Adelaide that does that it at Gepps… Read more
Cross - I just happen to live on the other side of Adelaide. Anyway. Just a heads up to anyone thinking of purchasing EPSON and you don't want to drive half way across Adelaide to get a service, look at a different brand. I will in future.
hopeless – There is NO user interface except for a couple of flashing buttons that have multiple meaning and impossible to work out. it is impossible to use, often does not work. Epson you really failed this time. It is NOT user friendly. they tried to make "gadetry" and failed miserably. It's impossible to sort out when it doesn't work. At best all you can… Read more
do is shut the printer down and delete every print job from every que in all computers and devices then maybe, if you're lucky you can print. The scanner is useless. Always has been but now Epson takes it to new levels of useless user functions that simply do not work. DO NOT BUT THIS PRONTER you will regret it.
Dont expect to use this for anything in colour – Being stuck at home but still having to do my work as usual, I purchased this printer as a not-that-cheap and easy image proof printer. I didn't expect perfect colour matching, but this printer wont come even close. NOT EVEN CLOSE. It basically makes up colours for you. Colour matching is impossible. On top of that, the inks fade very very fast.… Read more
So dont bother to use this to print photos for Grandma, or cute pics of your pet, as within a few months the black turns red.
Also I have to clean ink heads pretty much every time I print. Waste of paper. Waste of ink.
and another warning.
Dont try to swap out your modem. You will spend hours and hours trying to reset it. And then end up having to use a really long cord and only connecting to one print source.
Hopeless.
Poor quality print – I'm a teacher and had heard great things about this printer, but I don't have a lot of good things to say about it. The pros: the ink is cheap and lasts a long time. The negatives: I have had to clean the heads every single time I've used it because of lines appearing in the print. The print is blurry looking, and not sharp and crisp. It prints… Read more
slowly. I have had it 2 years and the ink pads are now gone and the advice is to throw this printer out as it's not worth fixing. Considering I paid nearly $500 for the printer, I was expecting better than what I have experienced. It just isn't good enough! I am extremely disappointed and would recommend avoiding an Epson EcoTank.
Great printer, cheap on ink – I have only had 1 hiccup with this printer where i had a paper jam and they had to replace a part that broke but it was done very quickly under warranty. Other than this, i love it as this printer was a replacement for a hp ecotank that didn't work Show details
Poor quality ink – The ET 2500 will print an almost endless number of pages as promised. While the pages of a document print reasonably quickly, photos are slow to print; but that does not worry me. What does concern me is that photos printed on the ET 2500 fade (inside the house) in between 6-12 months making it useless as a photographic printer - my main reason for buying the printer. This is the worst photo printer I have owned. Show details
Great printer – This has been a great printer for me. The ink is lasting forever and photo quality excellent. The issues I've had have been easily fixed in the control panel except for 250GSM photo paper won't feed unless a slight curve applied to leading edge. Lines in the 'Standard' text print were fixed by upping the levels a bit and saving as a Pre-set'. … Read more
Other issues I've had with are nothing unusual compared to the other printers I've used (WiFi, drop-outs, etc)
Worst printer in 23 years of using them – I have used a home printer for artworks for 23 years, probably at least a dozen different printers. I have owned Canons, HPs, Brother's, and now an Epson ET 2500. It is by far the worst and most frustrating machine I have owned. The only good things about it are that it has refillable ink ecotanks and was cheap. It has the least accurate color… Read more
matching I have yet seen.
It is the first that will not print edge to edge on photo paper.
It does not tell the computer what is happening and often refuses to print.
I have had to reinstall the drivers multiple times.
Even when plugged in (rather than wireless) it takes the first sheep through and then locks up until the more paper button is pressed.
Large Ink Tanks on a Cheap Printer = Premium Price – Slow print. Quality is fairly average for an Epson. Paper constantly gets jammed, especially photo paper. When printing large files over WiFi, I constantly get a communication error ... (I have run ethernet thoughout the house with multiple wireless access points, so no, my WiFi is not slow!). It's basically just a $100 printer with large ink… Read more
tanks, so although is super economical to refill, it doesn't justify the initial outlay of almost $400!!
Exactly what I needed – Cost - initial outlay a little more expensive than we had planned, but the promise of lower ink costs made us choose this machine over others. Ink cost has been fantastic! have refilled the wells once in the last 2 years and it cost about $40 in ink. Our previous printers ink cartridge was $50-60 and we had to buy them almost EVERY time we… Read more
printed. The saving in ink has definitely offset the initial outlay for the printer.
Print quality- I don’t recommend this printer if you want to print full page images or photos. I have tried to calibrate it several times, but there is always lines across photos or full page images. However for documents it is brilliant. No lines across text. Prints quickly, and I can send documents to it via email for printing from my phone. (Have not worked out how to connect it to my phone yet, but I have also not tried because the email function is fine).
Reliability- have only had it jam once. Getting it connected to WiFi the first time, or to a new modem, is extremely painful. You have to connect it with a cable to your modem to create the initial connection, even if it is the same device but with a new modem (took me AGES to work it out, the instructions are lacking). But after this it works without issue. I’m not great with tech, and I worked it out, but I know my parents couldn’t. Something to be aware of.
Overall very happy with my printer, it does exactly what I need it to do. Low running costs, and excellent document printing. I just outsource my photo printing.
waste of money – The print quality is terrible and it is oh sooooooo slow to print. Don't bother printing in colour as you may as well go on a holiday and it may have printed by the time you return! I purchased this printer for the eco tank but the benefit of that is lost entirely by the lack of speed and poor print quality. Show details
What a waste of money – Had it for 3 months and the blue ink stopped working. Was told by Epson to run 3 consecutive head cleans and if that didn't fix it to run 3 consecutive ink flushes. Mean while you can only do 1 of those every 12 hours! That seemed to fix it for a couple of weeks then the same thing happened again. So I did the same thing but now its saying that… Read more
the ink pad is full and needs a service call and has locked the printer up so you are unable to do anything with it. Stay away from this printer!
