Epson EcoTank Pro ET-16600
MPNs: C11CH72501 and ET-166005 reviews
Constantly have problems with it, is is a poor quality build piece of rubbish
Purchased in at Officeworks for $1,649.
The print quality is excellent, and I have used the 16600 for printing many documents. HOWEVER, the A3 duplexer has a serious issue, nicking the middle of the short edge of every page on the return trip. I have now had two units of ET-16600 (and three duplexers - I had one replaced), and they have all consistently had the same problem with the duplexer page nicking. In a large document, it results in an ugly river of identical v-shaped creases through all the pages. A workaround is to print only on one side odd numbered pages, and then carefully reverse and feed in the resulting stack and print all the even pages (painful, for a 500 page book). The print quality is so good that it's almost worth it. If you can trim an inch off of the ends of pages (for example with bookbinding), then the duplexer issue can be ignored. The attached photo is the very first print from the second (brand new) ET-16600 unit that I have owned; the creasing is identical to that of the first unit and first two duplexers.

constantly poor print quality – Purchased this unit after having a smaller ecotank unit (3700), accepting that the print quality not up to some other manufacturers but liking the ecotank ink features. This much more expensive 16600 unit has an equivalent print standard - would have thought better for quadruple the price - but the biggest issue is it is constantly printing out of line and requiring head cleaning and power cleaning, once every 1-2 weeks. Also the fact that the "ecotank" ink bottles are not compatible across models is astonishing

Best Colour Printer – This printer will print and scan up to A3 size but the best feature is the quality of the print. It is called an Eco Tank Printer because unlike an inkjet printer the colours come in 4 bottles which are put into the printer. The four replacement bottles cost about $100 but will print nearly 3000 colour pages before needing replacement. Comes with 12 months warranty but after registering with Epson they give an extra 12 months warranty for free. It is not a cheap printer but is worth it for the quality. Has two cassette trays plus you can load paper at the rear paper tray. Also prints double sided. You won't be disappointed if you purchase an ET16600
Seems okay so far – We purchased this device to replace a four-year-old HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 which was a) becoming too expensive to use because of ink cartridge costs; and b) refused to keep using generic ink cartridges. We are now just over two months into using the Epson and we are generally okay with it. On the down side, this was an EXPENSIVE piece of kit. We managed to snag one for around $1,500 via Catch but the RRP from Epson is around $250 more than that. However, running the purchase plus operating costs based on our use over the next two years it came in as the overall cheapest against other potential Epson, HP, and Canon printers (45% lower than the HP one it was replacing).
On the up side, we did get a bonus 12 months' warranty from Epson when we purchased it which we didn't expect.
Setup on our home network for use by a mixture of Apple and Windows devices was okay too. No major problems were experienced.
It seems quiet, fast, and hopefully reliable. Print quality is fine but we haven't tried any photographic paper in it as yet.
Purchased in at Catch for $1,500.

Just an update for anyone who is interested… we have just exhausted the first tank-full of black ink in our printer. That is after nine months’ use and only cost us just under $26 to purchase (one bottle of genuine Epson T542 online via Ink Depot). We have printed just over 3,000 pages in that time. That’s less than I had expected but it is still significantly less than the $150 I would have paid for the two genuine HP cartridges that I would have consumed over the same time for my old HP OfficeJet Pro 7740!
