Lasted about a week before I put a hammer through it (it was more satisfying than trying to return it), This printer requires 6 different pieces of software to operate. The final stand was when I scanned a document, then when I tried to print it said "printer not connected", alot of trouble shooting later and reinstalling everything from scratch I… Read more
printed the test page... perfect, worked great.... then I tried to print a document and got the "printer not connected" error again and the printer was no longer detectable from it's own software to print (but as before I could still scan from it).... the hardware is probably fine, the software is something dreamt up in the underworld to aggrivate people.
I'd give 0 stars if I could. I changed ALL cartridges a few months ago, only made a few black copies since - black was NEARLY empty, so I just went and spent $48 on a XL cartridge. Got home to run the super head clean or whatever (which it wouldn't do without the ink), halfway through my magenta (that was 1/8 left) is empty and the BRAND NEW XL… Read more
black is 1/8 empty! I haven't even printed a test page yet!
And it's ALWAYS head alignment, cleaning or nozzle checks required for printing. I swear it DRINKS the ink and then uses more to fix itself! Not buying more ink, tossing the lot. Never again epson
I purchased this Epson printer with the expectation of reliable home printing, especially in our largely digital age. However, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating and expensive. The most glaring issue is the absolutely abysmal ink cartridge lifespan. We are a household that predominantly relies on electronic documents, yet we find… Read more
ourselves replacing cartridges at an alarming rate. It seems like the printer consumes ink even when idle.
The 'low ink' warning is less of a warning and more of a hard stop. Once the printer decides the ink is low, it refuses to print, even if the output is just simple text. This results in significant wasted ink and a frustrating interruption to workflow. To illustrate, we recently went through half a pack of A4 paper while replacing the ink cartridges three times. This level of inefficiency is unacceptable.
But the problems don't stop there. This printer exhibits a bizarre level of pickiness when it comes to paper compatibility. I have a variety of photo papers from different suppliers, and the printer simply refuses to print on them. It's not a matter of print quality; it just won't feed the paper. While the manufacturer might claim this is for 'quality assurance,' it feels more like a convenient excuse to lock consumers into their overpriced, proprietary paper.
In summary, this Epson printer has proven to be a money pit and a source of constant frustration. The excessive ink consumption, the premature 'low ink' shutdowns, and the restrictive paper compatibility make it a poor choice for anyone looking for a reliable and cost-effective printing solution. I strongly advise potential buyers to look elsewhere. This printer is designed to drain your wallet and your patience.
Bot buying an Epson again – Worst printer I've ever used. I've set up quite a few in my life and this one has been so completed with so many issues. Had it for over a year now and still hate it. Print quality is poor, and goes through so much ink. Show details
It was returned to Office works – It was horrible to setup, Printing colours were washed out, Spent hours with Epson support who were terrific but suggested I take it back Show details
Perfect for what I need – I spent some time reading multiple reviews for all printers in this price range and as mentioned in another review they all leave the impression that all of these budget printers are not worth buying. Warning after warning that they are noisy, slow, consume ink at a great rate etc etc. Well after some 5 weeks I have hardly used any of the… Read more
'introductory' ink cartridges at all. Obviously I only use the printer for some minor home printing, hence this printer is perfect for my needs. Don't be put off by the negative reviews if you are just wanting something basic. The Epson printer is a first for me. The set up was flawless and straight forward.
Does the job I need – Needed a new printer and did not want to spend a lot of money. Need just to print documents. Read many reviews on nearly every printer where people wrote of their problems they had with all of them. Reading any of their reviews would lead you to believe none are worth buying. However i went against all the reviews here and bought the Epsom XP4200.… Read more
I am happy with it so far. Everything thing works fine. Love the auto double sided printing feature even if it does take a long time to get through. So far about 4 weeks only printed documents and will only do which has done this with no problem. Did have a bit of a problem setting up as there is no set up details sent with the printer. Found all the information online however. So I can recommend this printer
