Epson Expression Photo XP-970

Crap ink wasting ripp off – Used all colour ink . With just printing black and white it's a ripp off ink wasting machine
Purchased in for $360.
Fade colour printing – Wouldn't recommend didn't print colours correctly. All colours came out dull or pale. Changed settings, types of paper used and same result. Ink on paper also faded very quickly.
Spare Ink Cartridges for Epson XP-970 – DO NOT purchase extra spare ink cartridges for this printer. Mine did not last long enough to use any of the spare cartridges I bought with the new printer. It just started last week to 'Paper Jam' every page - does not print a single thing any more. As a electrical engineer and software consultant, I tried everything I could possibly think of. Brand new Epson is now in the garbage bin while I'm printing on a new $200 Canon printer. ( Got a set of spare Epsom ink cartridges for sale though :) )

Great prints but poor scans – I bought this a couple of years ago as my worforce heads dried up (after 6 years). I wanted an a3 all-in-one photo printer. Pros: • Print quality is good, photo prints are great; I print a lot of 4" by 6" high gloss photos and most believe they printed at a shop. • Print speed is good, although this isn't a driving reason for buying as I don't print a lot of big documents • Having two trays is great proving you don't Print to the wrong one! • Epsonconnect, It's easy to Print from multiple devices even when out. • USB and microsd, although I rarely use these • Easy to setup, I already has an epsonconnect account which made it even easier for me. • Desk space it occupies is good for an a3 printer.
Cons: • The trays are limited in capacity and I find myself having to fill them a lot more often than my workforce • Scanner: ••I had an a4 workforce and miss the document feeder. •• only A4 scans despite a3 prints •• The resolution is terrible, no OCR, no multipage scans (each scanned page is a seperate document). It simply frustrates me if I want to pdf any documents more than one page! My flatbed epson in 1998 was much better and now I often resort to using my mobile phone instead.
All up, this is great for printing and very easy to use, but if you do a lot of scanning then you'll get frustrated. Printing 5/5, connectivity 4/5 and 1/5 for scanning.
Sadly, I regret not getting another WorkForce equivalent a3.

Excellent quality output up to A3+ – I bought this printer a couple of months ago and have since printed over 500 (yes 500!) photos of all sizes, from 4x6 to A3. The machine is quite fast and the results on glossy photo paper are nothing short of stunning. The only downside is the cost of the ink. But I guess if you want quality, you have to pay for it. Oh yeah, and it has a built in scanner, with accompanying software which is simple to use and works well. Overall I am 100% satisfied with this printer.
Purchased in at Epson Australia for $399.
