Has been a terrible printer that always faulters. Contacted Epson support today for assistance & they were useless & clearly didn't care. What a waste of money. AVOID EPSON LIKE THE PLAGUE! Show details
I have persevered with this very poor printer for my home office for some years now and have just given up. It has had multiple instances of not printing double-sided, going offline frequently and for the final straw, printing part pages that were not in the queue. Also, cartridge costs are very high. Time for a laser!
Not my best decision to buy an Epson 6100 – It will not print. Screen says it is printing and paper feeds but nothing printed. I did all the maintenance jobs as per the instructions several times and still will not print. Into the bin it goes. Sad thing is that this week I ordered new cartridges to have on hand. My previous Epsom was giving problems so I purchased the 6100 to have on… Read more
hand when it failed. I was hoping the 6100 would take the same cartridges as the old 620 series but they are different. I only started to test the 6100 today as I have got by with an older Brother printer that only prints in black and white now. Got the 6100 from Officeworks in Bundaberg Qld. I just spent ten minutes trying to scan a document. Not easy but I eventually worked it out. The 6100 did not recognise the computer it is connected to so that wasted some time.
I think printers have become a failed technology – I bought it from Officeworks 5 months ago and i am ready to just throw it in the bin. The most complicated impossible to understand printer and scanner unit I have ever used. I have tried endlessly to make it work. I managed to print something once and scan something once or twice but when i go to use it again there is always something wrong. This… Read more
is the 3rd printer I have tried since the last Canon Prixma TS9000 lost a little cog from inside that I could not get fixed. I thought Epson would solve my scan and print problems but this nightmare has got me completely stumped.
No access to the paper tray – The Epson XP 6100 is the worst printer I’ve ever had. Every time I send something to it to be printed, there’s always some error message and I am required to fix it. How can a printer glitch so much? You cannot open it to get access to the paper. You have to slide in the paper and with your fingertips push it to the back without being able to see… Read more
if it’s fully loaded. The tray for printing photos will not click in place so that function doesn’t work. The replacement ink cartridges are very expensive- up to $100.
If you don't have the patience of Job then don't buy an Epson – If it wasn't for the fact that Epson Inkjet printers do a good job when they actually work, then I'd never have one. But an Epson is like a stubborn child or an untrainable dog, you spend most of your time trying to get it to cooperate. This XP-6100 is the worst one I've ever had. You have to set the size and type of paper you want to use, but… Read more
it's only by a miracle that you find the settings for larger paper because it insists that you print very small photos. I eventually managed to find a setting for A4 (goodness knows how), but when I try to print, it automatically sets the print scale to anything less than 100%. If I it to 100% it crashes the app I'm using. I've now discovered that of two identical graphic images, with multiple layers, with the same size and all details basically the same, it will print one of them okay, but will crash my app if I try to print the other one. If it does accept my print settings and actually does the job, towards the end of an A4 print it will suddenly snatch at the paper turning it a few degrees out of line, so that the rest of the image is printed out of alignment. And during each of those last few passes there is a nasty klanking sound coming from the machine. The Epson Help desk is only there to tell you to download the latest driver. That's all they can offer, which is no help at all!
Dull and grainy prints after a few months – Print quality was incredible at first, and stayed that way for a few months. Then it gradually started printing more and more prints that were dull and grainy, I hadn’t changed any settings or paper. I did all the recommended maintenance and filled the ink cartridges, I called Epson and the only thing they could come up with is that I’m not using… Read more
epson branded paper. Now I’m getting nothing but bad quality prints. Steer clear if you’re an artist or photographer!
Printer with stress – Printer is 13mths old. Just out of warranty. Was previously of then it lost the plot. It cannot print correctly or with correct colours. Tried everything they suggest on and in the maintenance of the product, even installed all new ink. No improvement. Wasted my money. Show details
Absolute rubbish, total waste of time and money! – Everything seemed OK at first, but as soon as the warranty expired it all went south. I had mainly been using the device for scanning, and the occasional (mostly black) page or two of printed documents. Suddenly, I start getting all of these error messages and it refused to work at all, even for scanning. After many hours of trying to sort out the… Read more
"issues" it tells me I need to replace the ink cartridges, which was surprising as I had barely printed anything. So I go an spend $130 on the correct Epson replacement cartridges, and it tells me it can't recognise the cartridges and refuses to do anything. Have reinstalled everything, made sure drivers are up to date, etc and have a brand new Windows 11 PC. I've called Espon service a few times and they have been useless, with appalling customer service. They told me to email them photos of the serial number, cartridges in place and even the receipt for the new cartridges. Then they replied and said "we can't open the files you sent, use another device". Strange, considering the files are standard jpeg photos. They referred me to their closest service centre, which was miles away in the outer suburbs of Melbourne. I contacted other printer repair shops in the city and they told me "it's not worth the cost of repairing it". Given the other reviews on here, it sounds like it would malfunction again straight away even if I did try to get it fixed. I guess that's another pile of junk for the worlds growing e-waste problem, so thanks Epson for your lack of concern for product quality, the environment, customers money and time. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!! I will never buy another Epson product again.
Total waste of time energy and money – This printer simply will not work, it has been a total, complete waste of time and money. it will not communicate with my Mac, I bought it for the single soul job of printing onto CDs, however I have only ever managed to print about 12 CDs successfully. I use the latest Mac operating system, and the most up-to-date printer drivers are installed, -… Read more
start it up, always a problem, never straight forward, I have spent more time shutting down, rebooting, and wasting ink printing test papers (when it does communicate) ! - time trying to interpret error messages, software update messages when they are already updated. you will spend hrs going around in circles, the help centre was unhelpful, they wanted £39.99 to provide assistance. I have been working with computers since 1995 and have never come across anything like this before. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER another 4 hrs lost today, I give up.
Will never buy an Epson printer again – I purchased it a year ago. It was going ok, but after a year, the ink was only lasting for 50 pages. I am now spending $138 a fortnight in ink. They said my printer needs a service and it's out of warranty so I have to pay. At the same time, it said it needs a new maintenance box. I didn't know printers had this, and that will be a yearly cost of… Read more
$25. I guess you get what you pay for. In the last year, I've spent around $3000 on this stupid printer. I'm about to by a hp which I've had in the past and had no issues
Not worth it. Won’t print when ink empty – No matter what the screen says, you can’t print in B&W if the colour ink is out. I hate this so much on printers. I NEVER print in colour yet it’s always running out and it then bricks it until I’d spend another $100 on ink I never use. Screen says you can print in B&W but the button presses do is bring you back to replacing ink. Show details
Awful awful printer – Every time I go to print, maybe once a week it says the driver is missing. I have to uninstall and reinstall the driver EVERY time I want to print. Absolute garbage tech. Show details

Know better, choose better.
Absolute Rubbish – I bought this printer from Officeworks. Went home and tried to print wirelessly, but printer will only connect to a certain frequency - my modem is only 3 years old but it wouldn't do it. Went to print straight from phone (Galaxy S21),but that was almost impossible and requires downloading all sorts of apps- wasted over an hour trying to print one… Read more
photo. When I finally went to print ,using high quality Fuji photo paper, the edges of the paper jammed, and wasted 3 prints until one finally worked. Tried other brands of paper and same results - the print quality when it works was OK, but wasted so much ink trying to do it. Didn't use printer for a few weeks and went to print a spreadsheet - and ALL the ink was gone! So I loaded a new black cartridge ,which is 3 x bigger than the colours (so how did it run out?) ,only to find this INK wasting printer won't print in B&W when a colour cartridge is empty. Guess EPSON want you to continually be replacing all of them, even when you don't use it. In my view this printer is a scam - it's sole purpose is to drain the ink even when turned off. Please dont fall for the so positive reviews like I did
major fault dont buy be warned – Bought this from John Lewis was perfect for 8 months. Then when printing 6 x 4 photos from cassette 1 keeps showing cassette 1 jammed. Epson too there word replaced this printer with a new one. But same fault immediately. So contacted epson again. So another printer arrived but a refurbished one not brand new. Guess what exactly same problem. I… Read more
have tried to get an upgrade or different model but epson having none of it they inform me now they want me to take it to a local epson repairer which is 130 miles away. I have tried everything they told me to do but still same problem. I am fed up so phoned John lewis as i bought it off them. They have been fantastic gave me a full refund and arranging to pick up the duff printer. I am now buying a canon printer as epson customer service is terrible. Will never buy another epson printer and i have had 5 this is deff the worst one.
Disappointing printer – If you want a cost effective printer don't go after this one. Printer purchase price very good. But high cost of Ink cartridges make up for it. Cost you an arm and a leg. Also despite separate colour cartridges it won't print if any cartridge is empty. Meaning that if your black cartridges are full but any of the colours are empty it will not print even if you choose black only on the printer driver. Ink consumption is high. Show details
Words can't describe how disappointed I am with this printer – I wanted to purchase a printer for the sole purpose of printing family photos. I asked for assistance in the store and they told me that as it was an Expression printer, this would do the job. The problem is that it only prints to photo quality paper less than 10% of the time. Very frustrating. Most of the time, I get a "out of paper" notice and… Read more
it won't print, sometimes get a paper jam. Failing this I resorted to plain paper, however the quality of the colour was no longer acceptable. My very last attempt to print 3 photos on to plain paper had severe colour striping. I haven't printed that much (as it fails most of the time when I do), but the app has an ink cartridge gauge that showed at least half full for all of the colours. I don't want to wastefully replace it as I'm already unhappy with my purchase and I'm considering throwing it in the bin.
I know this is the enter level photo printer and I now wish I had invested in the upgrade, however the sales assistant told me the upgrades generally reduced speed and sound. All I want it to do is print at least 80% of the time at a minimum. Is that so much to ask?
Besides this, the wifi connection and app work great, connecting a computer wirelessly to the printer is great I just wish it printed photos
Rubbish – For modern day tech and not the cheapest of items this printer is a disappointment. I'm ok with the high ink prices to have the convenience of printing photos and birthday party invitations etc. at home when needed. I have a cheaper black & white printer for everyday printing. However if you purchase one of these printers for photos, best of… Read more
luck to you in getting 'cassette 1' to accept the photo paper. On some occasions, I replace the paper in the tray 20 or more times (I kid you not) growing increasingly more frustrated as the machine whizzes and whirrs each time to tell me, again, 30 seconds later that there is no paper in cassette 1.
When the photo eventually prints, it is ok for a home printer, on par with cheaper printers like Big W but not comparable to high quality professional prints. The colours for things like birthday party invites come out quite nice and vivid.
The 'scan to cloud' feature is really nice allowing me to scan direct to my email. However I can't see any obvious intuitive way to scan multiple pages and send as one file, so it's only really useful for single pages.
Don't buy this printer- flimsy manufacture; expensive ink – This printer fell apart within weeks. Because of the substandard hardware it is difficult to replace the ink. It is obvious that the manufacturer's profit is made up in the highly inflated ink replacements. This is the first and last time that i will be"conned" into buying an EPSON. I have operated a home office for twenty five years, and EPSON stands out as the worst choice i have made regarding a printer for my office. Show details
Disappointment – I bought EPSON printer this February based on feedback that this model is good for photo printing and general usage, however after printing 4-5 images it never printed a single photo (4x6). It always having a problem with paper (cassette out of paper etc). I called customer support and they advised some instructions like update drivers, use proper… Read more
paper (used new EPSON glossy paper) etc and I tried all, still it didn’t work. Lastly, they provided me address and mentioned to take this printer to service centre and they will fix it as there is some issue with printer. It’s really disappointing and painful that after buying a brand-new printer, I need to take all pain to get it fixed even when it’s not even my fault (looks like quality issue). It’s now 2.5 months that printer is useless for me. I never expect such quality from reputed firm like EPSON, I also tweeted issue to EPSON Australia and they took all my details and never approached me.
EPSON is such big name in printer world which may be excellent for other products and users, however the quality of product that I received was very bad, also after buying new printer why should I have take all pain to fix this when I paid full money to get flawless hardware, company should take responsibility
Very good compact printer, ink not cheap – I bought this printer as a replacement for my Canon MX870, which had provided adequate service but had finally died. I am writing this review partly in response to the only other review of this printer which appears on this site. I primarily use this printer for printing photos in colour and monochrome. I find it does both of these tasks very… Read more
well. Although I find the default settings not to my liking, it is very easy to use my own preferences for colour management. The printer was very easy to setup, the wireless software for both OS X (Catalina) and IOS (iPhone) is well thought out and effective. With reference to the previous reviewer’s comments, you CAN print using just the black cartridge if you find one or more of the colour cartridges has run out of ink. Doing so requires reading the relevant section of the manual. It’s not hard. Overall I rate this printer above average and would recommend it to anyone who wants a good quality compact multi-function printer (including direct to CD/DVD printing), and who’s print requirements are very good quality at low to medium volume (replacement ink cartridges are not cheap).
Do not buy epson printers. Worst printers of all time!!! – Bought an Epson XP-6100 printer. It is a horrible and terrible printer. Set up was a a nightmare. Worst of all, it does not allow you to print black and white if you running low on colour ink, or vice versa. So even if you have a full black ink cartridge, but if your colour ink cartridge is low, it just refuses to print, no matter what you do.… Read more
Epson customer service even admit they have no solution to this problem, you just have to keep on buying printer ink. Just ridiculous. This seems to be a common issue with many model of Epson printers. My advice : do not buy Epson printer. You will regret. Epson printers will make you pull your hair out and curse the day you were born. It is just so annoying. Epson printers are just total garbage. Their printers should carry a warning label to advise customers they are buying an inferior product. Least to say I have chucked out my Epson printer, even though it is less than a year old. Bought myself a HP printer, way cheaper and does a better job. This will be the first and last time I will buy any Epson product. So buyer beware, stay away from Epson.
