Cannot get it to be recognised by my computer – I have had an earlier version of these scanners for a while (V39, worked well when it got going) but I cannot get this model (V39II) to work after 3 hours of struggle. The light refuses to come on and there is nothing from Epson Support pages to help. Every help page starts by assuming that you didn't connect the printer using the cable (how… Read more
sweet), then assumes that the scanner somehow displays a light. I have installed and uninstalled Epson software three times, restarted my computer, tried altering system settings, but still nothing. So frustrating wasting my time after driving around to different stores to find one of these scanners. The lack of support when a device is dead out of the box is a really poor sign from the company. I am using a 2019 iMac with latest OSX 14.0, and my job schedule came to a grinding halt.

absolute nightmare to use. Just give me one basic piece of software!
Then there's the issue of connectivity. It uses a USB cable so that's fine, but my PC seems to detect it about 30% of the time so you have to keep unplugging it and replugging it until the PC recognises it. Looking at reviews on the Epson site, this seems to be a common problem.
I can't comment on the document quality. For a budget scanner it seems OK. I only use it for scanning documents and it works fine (although slowly). I wouldn't recommend this device for frequent office use, but it's fine for occasional use. Apparently it can scan photographs but the software makes me want to throw the thing out the window so I never use it.
Regretful purchase.
