Epson Stylus TX100

Not that bad for the money – Had it for years. Good quality scans, works readily with Linux (Cups/Gutenprint). xsane finds the scanner no worries. Ink is cheap (calidad make generic version), and it prints well after two years in storage with the ink left in it!
Don't take it - even if it's free – Got this printer for free when I bought my laptop... has been nothing but troublesome. Forever having communication errors and even "printing" in "invisible ink" despite having a full tank of ink... Instead of taking it, throw it off a tall building! It will have more use that way! Not worth the time. EVERYTHING. So many issues, doesn't know how to print anything.
Sick of epson stopping my printer when i purchase non genuine ink – Hands up if you are sick of Epson controlling where you purchase ink?I am over my epson printer and will not purchase another one....ever!!!!! I love this little printer but everytime I purchase non genuine ink, it works for a while and then EPSON uploads a new chip to stop the printer from working so you purchase Their ink and over-inflated… Read more
prices. Can anyone tell me what brand of printer to purchase that does not over-ride my personal computer and dictate when and where I purchase ink for MY PRINTER. How greedy are they? Overall great little printer Greedy Epsonb Over-riding my personal computer dictating where I purchase ink
Don't – This printer just died after about a year. Ink was expensive, it was slow and noisy. There are much more reliable printers on the market. The software is not designed for Mac interface, looks like it's been cheaply translated. Annoying ink level meter makes it look as though you are always out of ink.No more Epsons for me. Unreliable
Troublesome printer and expensive to run – I had this printer for about a year. The printer itself is very noisy. As I use the printer only to print couple of pages at a time or on a day, I turn it off and on. This consumes all the ink. The ink doesn't even last about 50 pages. The worst thing is it doesn't allow me to print black only if any of the other cartridges are running… Read more
low/empty. I am throwing this out and buying a new one. The print outs are good Very expensive to run. It consumes too much ink. Can't print black only if colour cartridges run low.
I have had exactly the same problem. Had to buy new black ink after printing off 5 pages [no… Read more
Terrible – Epson used to be known for cheap ink, and was the printer was cheap to buy. I wanted a printer that you could just hit print and it would print, but this you have to turn it on and off again, while it flashes and makes a lot of noise, then it might come back on again. Ink is more expensive then out previous Dell/Lexmark printer. Expensive ink,… Read more
has to be replaced regular, never prints without difficulty, very noise turning on and off, goes through ink quickly ...
Good – The printer is good value in the under $100 price range, where not a lot can be expected. Suitable for occasional undemanding use. A cheaply priced multi-function for low volume use. It has a high degree of control over ink usage, with draft mode, quality settings, and a black ink-only option. You can buy generic ink for this printer, and it fits… Read more
2 types of ink tank, high and low volume.
Print speed is sloooww, on all but draft setting. There is no message display.
The supplied software is capable, and will cope with photo print on several different paper qualities.
The scanner is capable but low resolution, and should not have too much asked of it, but that goes with the price bracket. Considering the price, nothing really. If really finicky, you would notice the lack of a display, the slow speed on everything but draft setting, and the low-res scanning, but then you should spend a bit more.
Bad – Great product if all you want to do is print. If you want to scan or photocopy, then I would not recommed it. Print quality is good. Price is excellent. Problems with copying and scanning. Everything comes out with a blue background. I have tried all the different settings and there is no improvement.
Bad – Have had this just over a year, is not currently working, haven't figured out why. However, for the price it is easy to replace , just annoying. It is an ok printer I guess if you need to print very sporadically but not in our family of printing addicts, will buy a longer lasting, more expensive model next time. Very cheap and does the job well… Read more
while it's working. We seem to go through ink amazingly fast and the four ink cartridges cost almost as much as the printer itself. We also use the draft printing option so it cuts down on ink usage but sometimes we only get about 20-30 pages out of an ink cartridge.
Excellent – So far I am impressed with the price of $68 and if you register online with Epson you get a further three months warranty free. The ink tanks (4) are cheaper than the other brands. You can join the Epson club and rack up points every time you buy an ink tank. The quality of the printing is great. The scanning of documents is good and the copier is… Read more
also a feature that I like. Over all, I would say it prints better than my old Canon. I am more than pleased with this purchase. The ease of use. The set-up program covers all functions and Epson even has a club where you can buy ink. I like the idea of seperate ink tanks, you only buy what you need. Very 'plastic' have to be careful with the cover and feed-out tray for paper.
