This machine has accomplished everything I've needed it to, from drafts to quality gloss photo's – The print quality is exceptional on the correct high quality gloss paper. It does use up the ink fast though, considering the high price of the ink & how it goes off within 6 months if not used, which is a problem when you don't do to much printing. The reliability is terrific, a very trustworthy machine. I've had it about 10 years & not a single jam, nor do I expect one in the future.  Show details

It's a ripper – I really like the tx550w. It is simply the best printer I've owned, First point .. it's an inkjet. There is a good reason new ink cartridges arrive in sealed bags, they can and do dry out. You simply must replace ink jet cartridges more frequently than once a year if you want the printer to work whenever you need it. Except for black (use the… Read more

double size), don't just replace one colour, change the set.

Genuine ink is ridiculously expensive but I'm sure you know that's why the printer is so cheap. However, there are plenty of 3rd party after market ink sellers on ebay. I just bought a 5 pack of 2x double blacks and 3x 16ml colours for $20 delivered. They will do 2-300 sheets and in the world of colour inkjet under 10 cents a sheet is just fine.

Don't power this or any other IJ on and off, just leave it in stand by. That saves a lot of ink by not going through the start up cycle all the time.

I had a problem with wireless once but a simple reset and reinstall fixed it.

The scanner works fine. I have never used fax.

I reckon it's no different to my auto coffee machine. If it stops working and a simple thing doesn't fix it then don't look for one fault. Go over the machine and check/re[;ace all the consumables. 15 minutes and your back on track for another year.

There is no point in blaming one brand or one model for problems that are common to nearly all machines of a style. I can't understand the other reviews here but then most reviewers only complain :) It works very well and cost like $150 Doesn't remember multiple WiFi networks. Slow to do all the self checks and priming after an ink change. A bit more info on the menu screen esp. how to end a task would be good.

Like it - does the job I need – Have been using this for a number of years so far - can't understand other reviews, I haven't had any problems until now. Had a paper jam, which was cleared successfully, still have error message. Will have to get a repair person to look at it. Am hoping the repairs aren't too costly as I don't really want to have to buy a new printer. Good for… Read more

photo printing, inexpensive to run, easy to operate A little noisy when loading paper. Wi Fi used to work, but doesn't now....

Epson Stylus TX550W – Waste of money, expensive to run. I went to Harvey Normans and asked for a printer that was not cheap, ie one that was good quality and cheaper to run on consumables. Poor advice. This printer has never run properly, its print quality is poor, is ink usage is ridiculously high. Last time i purchased 4 new cartridges i loaded them and it would… Read more

not register the black, i had to print in blue or red, within minutes it showed only 50% left in the ink Looks nice, not to big, scans ok if it has ink Wont do anything if one ink cartridge is out, which is all the time as it gobbles ink. s.

Terrible – Bought this device in March 2010. Started having difficulty with it a month after. We're now November 2010 and the scanner isn't working. Overall not happy with the printer's performance and unreliability. Also not happy with after sales service. It seems to print ok The WiFi connection worked for a month and hasn't worked since - unreliable.… Read more

Also having problems with the scanner - sometime it works, and sometime it doesn't. It says "Warning computer is busy"for both our WiFi and USB connected computers.. It's been doing this for over a month now, so I decided to call Epson customer service in Sydney and the service was shocking! The woman was getting annoyed with my questions, so I opted to end the call and will call again later and hopefully get a different person.

Will never buy epson again!! – Everything from ink, scanning, wireless connectivity and most of all SUPPORT! Re-aligned the printer heads and cleaned nozzel numerous times, wasted ink and only prints 5 pages per cartridge! Waste of money, and did I mention the useless support from the Perth "team". Tax-offset What was right with it.

Terrible – Great Printers (I've had EPSON's all my life and have thought they are great products, great value for money but on this occassion I would have to say - Lousy Support Product is great, but I have had a niggly problem with it from about the 3rd month of owning the printer. I have 3 laptops and one desk top which use the printer - wirelessly over… Read more

my home simple network - i.e. simple being all default settings on everything! However, one Laptop whilst I can get scanned images to load to this particular laptop, I cannot get my Laptop to print to the printer wirelessly. It used too - for 2-3 months, but then one day stopped. I can print using the network cable - but that’s not the idea of wireless. I don’t like the support, like one of the previous writers - the support team don't actually support you. Whilst I expect there is nothing wrong with my printer, I really would think they should have a lot of knowledge of common faults and I can't believe I'm the only person experiencing this problem, but I got nowhere with EPSON Support - its enough for me to try another brand - but after 20 years of having EPSON, I'm reluctant, but if SUPPORT TEAMS CAN'T SUPPORT - then I might try a company that can SUPPORT properly.

Not impressed – I paid what i thought to be top dollar for a printer that i hoped could go the distance.Bought in sep 2010 and by June 2011 it wasnt printing anything with black ink and printing distorted colour if printing at all.The printer was only used now and again as its a home printer only i use. Scanner/copier never used.Did not get any help from support team as i phoned just outside warranty.Should have done this a week ago. Will not buy epson again.

Good – I don't use printers for photos so I can't comment on the performance in that regard but it looks like it's got everything covered. Coping is great and was pleasantly surprised to find it has reduction/enlargement function. Can't comment on WiFi as I'm still waiting on a Wifi router to set that up. Had to upgrade with a new computer that… Read more

needed a 64bit program. Am glad I had to. Our old HP cheap end all-in-one couldn't align itself properly and got messed up with ink inside and I couldn't get crisp clean copies. This time I'll only be using Genuine ink because I'm worried the "compatible" stuff contributed to poor performance on our other printer.

This was a great bargain (I got it on special) & the print quality is great (just like all the other reviews I read). I registered my product online and got an additional 3mth extension on the manufacturer warranty and also a $15 voucher which I'll use towards new ink cartridges in the end.

I read somewhere else that Epson have been printing for countless years and really know their stuff. I couldn't agree more. Really this product deserves a 5 star rating. I'm sure you could get better but not at the low price range of multi-functions inkjets. Stylish. User-friendly/intuitive interface via LCD screen which is just right. Suites Windows 7 64bit. A little noisy on the paper feed (not the actualy printing). A bit slow on printing. Had to download WIndows 7x64 driver and it seems to have worked but I was a bit at sea with is all and wasn't entirely sure if I was doing the right thing and in what order.
