Epson WF-4630

I managed to get a good deal on a new in a box (sealed box) unit, i know it has been around for a while but specs still looked ok. Setup looked to be going well but did take some time initialising the printer with the ink. once complete the Yellow ink was almost out - again all brand new in sealed packaging with no "use by" dates, no problem… Read more
surely Epson would support with a replacement Yellow Cartridge ( i wasnt eve expecting a replacement Maintenance box.. well this is where Epson really dissapoints, dont expect a quick response, after multiple emails and generic auto emails of have you used original inks - hmmm have you read the my actual fault description! brand new and original ink...blaming the age of the printer and how long it sat in the box unused... maybe you should put expiry dates on your original ink if you have an issue with this. Finally someone actually called and got details but had to escalate to "Higher Support" as they can't approve an ink cartridge being supplied even as good will - is Epson this restriced on support? does 1 cartridge take so many hours of customer support ? BTW the response back was "We escalate your concern with the higher support. We regret to inform you that we are unable to process your request at this time." hence this review - if you want a brand the will understand a situation and be able to support you then DONT choose EPSON
Works great, for a little while – The printer worked great at first and I didn’t have any problems with setup. After about 8 months the ink heads started clogging and there is no way to clean them (other than running auto clean which doesn’t work). From that point on, despite new ink cartridges and running the clean function over and over it has never printed well again. I left… Read more
it too long to claim on warranty unfortunately. Heading out now to buy a new printer and it won’t be an Epson.
Three years plus and still going strong – This is my second Epson Workforce printer and it does everything I want and need. I bought the WF-4630 in March 2017, after my previous WF-4540 had to be retired after 5 years of very solid work. Since that time it has performed faultlessly having printed just over 6,300 A4 pages of black and white and colour, both single and double-sided, as well… Read more
as several hundred envelopes of different sizes.
I use the scanner probably more than the printer, especially the document feeder and love that it handles both single and double-sided documents with ease. I've scanned more than 5,500 pages. The OCR capability of the supplied software is excellent and invaluable for quickly producing searchable PDF documents, which I use a lot. As well, I have scanned countless thousands of photographs directly from the platen ... and I've still got thousands to go!
I rarely use the copying function as I mostly scan and then print from the scanned copy, if that's necessary.
As far as printing quality and costs are concerned, I use the Epson almost all the time in preference to my Canon colour laser printer and find the high capacity cartridges very economical.
The printer was easy to install and works via a USB cable from our main PC and with wired and wireless connections to our other devices - PC, laptops, iPad and phones. It's left on virtually every day, all day and starts pretty quickly even when coming out of stand-by/sleep mode.
Worst printer ever!!! Epson worst customer service – Printer worked well for first few months then started to paper jam, tell me ink was low when still plenty of ink and of course the 0x97 error!! I tried calling customer service, warranty claims and they gave me directions to take it too an independent service mech who would charge me for their problem!!! $500 printer (with extra ink) and wifi print never worked. Stear away!!! Show details
Junk – This was a great printer for 6 months, but there is a big problem with the design on Epson Workforce printers, the design of the printer heads doesn't allow you to clean them, mine wont print yellow magenta and cyan, turning the printer into a single function scanner. Its just a matter of time before the heads clog and there is nothing you can do about it. I will never touch another Epson printer because of this. Show details
Worst printer I have ever had!!! – You can go & have a cuppa while waiting for the printer to start printing. Colours are dull compared to what they are supposed to be. Printer says that there is a paper jam when there isn't. I had a HP printer for 12 years, with no problems what so ever. Sadly I couldn't get another one where we live. Stay away from this printer! Next to useless – Print speed and quality are OK. The main problem is that AirPrint does not work despite claims to the contrary. So you cannot print from your iPhone or iPad. There is a mention in the documentation of a free app called IPrint. It seems to work for photographs but documents come out faint and minuscule. You cannot print emails or webpages directly.… Read more
The quality of the supporting documentation is poor and the technical help from Epson non existant. They just refer to to FAQ with a link that doesn't work. Getting there by another route does not solve the problem.
