Reliable, prints clearly – Ink lasts and good sized cartridges so you are not forever replacing and replenishing the ink. Easy to naviagate and trouble shot panel, lets you clean inkjets and run other maintenance at a touch of a button. All the usual - double sided copying and scanning using either a feeder or the flatbed glass. Reliable unit  Show details

Lemon – I feel you're frustration as my does exactly the same thing, paper getting jammed even though there is no sign of any trace of paper in rollers, I have tried many things from turning off printer and turning back on, re-installing Epson hardware and even updating drivers and had technical help online all to no avail. Waste of money and waste of time.  Show details

This printer is a lemon – Consistent problems with message "cannot recognise cartridges" they are new and I always use Epson cartridges. the printer will not work. The solution from the service centre is to send me replacement cartridges tied them they work for a day but the message has returned, the printer is now ready to be taken to recycle centre in the local tip Jeff

Don't buy unless you are prepared to have a continuous fight with software – The printer driver provided with this printer is COMPLETELY useless. Each time you want to print a file you must uninstall the printer driver and then reinstall - This is because the PC is completely unable to detect that the printer is turned on and "working" Yes the printer is working because to really frustrate consumers the printer supports… Read more

Google Cloud Print - so while the PC is completely unable to detect the printer sitting right alongside you can email the document to your tablet and then use Cloud Print to send the document to the printer. Of course there are always formatting issues but it proves that the printer is "working"

Of course the term "works" is used loosely. As noted by other reviewers the paper handling on this printer is also completely useless - If you use duplex printing at least 50% of the pages will have one or other corner completely mangled forcing you to uninstall the printer driver so that you can attempt to print the document a second time - but this time only printed on one side.

Finally the virus that is the Epson printer driver may be unable to detect the printer - but it is able to offer you discounts every day via annoying pop-ups.

Can I find anything positive to say about this printer - actually yes. The Scan to USB works amazingly well. Pop a memory stick into the USB and with only three button selections you have a high quality image on the stick Scanning Function Must reinstall the printer driver EVERY time you want to print something

Don't buy this printer as it keeps paper jam – I brought this printer in March, 2013. The printer keeps paper jams since day one. A service man attended to repair the printer but he was only do cleaning the duplexer and said there is nothing wrong with the printer and will charge me if calling them again to repair. For the past few months, I have been almost suffering depression with the… Read more

printer. Printer 5 papers of document could take you half an hours as it keeps jamming.

I have now brought the HP 8600 plus printer and it is much much better that that useless printer. I'm going to throw away the Epson printer into the rubbish bin.

Always jamming printer.

Returned to shop - dissapointing – I bought this printer cause it ticked so many boxes: - duplex printing - duplex scanning - duplex copying - wireless - allowed AirPrint and print from email - fast - cheap to run (cheaper than laser) - had second feeder tray at rear - Cheaper to purchase than rival ... I was going to buy the HP 8600 Plus - but I got this printer with… Read more

$120 cashback which in the end made it a bit cheaper than HP ...

But unfortunately the printer did not live up to expectations.

- It's HUGE ... whilst not much bigger than HP, it is an imposing piece of machinery

- Setup was clunky. It didn't come with up-to-date drivers for OSX 10.8, so had to download a 1GB FILE!!!!

- It wouldn't print photos from my iPhone ... kept saying the paper size was wrong, but there was no setup for it.

- It inexplicably lost network connection when scanning to a computer. You could select the computer to scan to (it could see it), then press scan, then it would say it can't find the computer. They were literally next to each other with the router in-between. 10 mins later, it would work fine! And you could print to it whilst this was happening :/ GRR

- To do two-sided scanning to a computer took 10 button presses. It would then forget your scan settings after 10 mins, so you had to repeat the process

- You cannot adjust the scan resolution when scanning to computer via pdf - you can only adjust resolution when copying.

- The button press menu system is clumsy at times

- The beep is annoying!

- The print quality was good without being brilliant

What did I like?

- It was fast and relatively quiet

- It did print duplex successfully - love that

- When it scanned duplex, it did this well

- The second tray is brilliant for re-using paper and putting in envelopes etc

What did I do?

- I returned the machine for a refund after 1.5 weeks of trying to make it work

- I bought a HP 8600 Plus.

- I LOVE the HP!

- I have purchased a second tray for the HP.

Is there anything I miss on the Epson?

- The second feeder tray (but am buying the additional HP tray)

- The price ... If I claimed the $120 cash back, the Epson would have been $180. With the second tray I will have paid $350 for the HP. But I seriously consider that money worth it.

- Other than that - no! The HP is an improvement on the Epson in every facet.

Fantastic Printer – I thought I would update this review from nearly 3 years ago. The printer is still going strong and all I ever have had to do is replace the cartridges and very infrequently at that. I think I have only used genuine cartridges but they last so long the cost is not a concern. I am still very happy with it. I expect they are no longer being… Read more

manufactured so I hope that when mine does eventually need replacing I can get one of its descendants.

I have own this printer for over 6 months now and have been very happy with it from the day I purchased it. We use it in a wireless home network and with four teenage children it gets a fair bit of use.

I cannot remember my installation experience which must be good as it cannot have been too hard.

It has lots of features (more than I need) that are simple to use e.g for double side printing you just press a couple of buttons, insert your original and away it goes.

The quality of the output is extremely good-so much better than my laser printers at work that I print important work documents out on this printer (fortunately that is not necessary too often).

The cost to purchase this printer was very reasonable and with Epson often running cashback offers it is easy to get it at a bargain price.

The best feature for me is the low cost of running due to the longevity of the cartridges. Our last inkjet seemed to need new cartridges every 2-3 weeks, with our Epson 4530 we are only now about to install our second set of colour cartridges and on our third black cartridge.

The only drawbacks (and these are minor) are that it is large for a home based printer and yes it does show the dust. Quality of output, easy to use, very low cost of running.

The printer equivalent of a burger with the lot! – This replaced a very large and heavy all-in-one printer that is no longer really supported (no 'real' Windows 7 drivers, and cloud print... what is cloud print). I still wanted a colour all-in-one, but one that could also auto-duplex, was wireless and 'cloud print ready'. I also wanted one that would not cost an arm and leg for replacement… Read more ·  1

consumables. This printer ticked all those boxes.

The software was not as user friendly as you might hope for an initial setup, but once I'd cursed and sworn a few times, opted for USB setup, then returned to the printer to do a wireless setup, everything ran smoothly. Installing the software on the other PCs was then a breeze.

I have:

1. Tested cloud printing from work (about 30km away from the printer)

2. Setup an Epson Connect email, and sent an email, which prints to the printer, (including any attachments) on my way home from work

3. Wirelessy printed from my smartphone

4. Scanned a variety of documents and photos

5. Copied single pages and multiple pages using auto-duplex (and the automatic document feeder for the multiple pages.

All of the above worked without any issues at all, and the quality of the print, especially for images, was impressive.

I must admit I was a bit unsure about replacing a colour laser printer with an inkjet one, but when I simulated spilling a glass of water over one of the docs I printed and the colour did not run I knew I'd made the right choice!

Luckily for me I purchased this during an Epson promotion, so including a 3-year extended warranty, (the first year of which is on-site) it only set me back $260.

Am I excited about this printer? Very! Compact, all-in-one, auto-duplex, wireless, cloud print ready, affordable consumables It's black, which means I have to dust it far too often for my liking

The best printer I have ever owned – I second the one previous review. Everything that reviewer says is true. It cost me $270 but Epson is having a cashback promotion at the moment. This printer will eventually only cost me $170. This is an absolute steal considering I paid $600 each some years for one laser and coloured printer that never worked well! Epson is also having a… Read more

warranty upgrade from one year back to base to home repair. This is great because it means I don't have to cart the printer around if it ever needs repair. The clincher for me was when I printed wirelessly from my smart phone to my printer and it worked perfectly. I can't recommend this printer enough. You will not be sorry at all. I also tested this printer using 220gsm board paper. This paper is thick. It printed in colour without missing a bit.Excellent stuff! Ease of printing wirelessly, easy to set up, economical and superb colour printing capability.
