Good Friday menu for dinner. Cold chicken noodle soup and dry sandwiches with meat filling. The executive chef must be an atheist. Very very disappointing, especially at this daily room charge.
From the moment I entered, clean and very well presented, staff were very friendly and helpful. Nurses all the way through my surgery experience were amazing. Food is next level for a hospital. Very happy with my short stay at Epworth Richmond.
MRI assistance. I am petrified of MRIs and the feeling of being closed in. The MRI department were understanding and helped me through a stressful situation. They did not rush me, they explained the procedure and were there every step of the way.
ED at Epworth Richmond, is the best I’ve come across in five years of me visiting almost every hospital in Melbourne! They were all dismissive of my situation & never bothered to investigate my long term injury further!! Yet in this ED they took my condition seriously & were able to diagnose accurately & ordered the tests which were needed to help… Read more
diagnose my condition! Amazing experience. Can I please give a special shout out to Dr Cameron who had an amazing knowledge & ability to diagnose a patient based on its own situation& not being like others who were so judgmental & dismissive of my five years of injury& suffering? Thank you Dr, you are amazing!

My husband has attended Epworth hospital, Richmond for 10 months and we rate it as the best hospital in Melbourne. He has attended chemotherapy in the day Oncology unit and has received outstanding care and support from the nursing staff and his oncologist, Dr Alan Zimet. Food is outstanding also. Staff are efficient, knowledgeable, caring and… Read more
take the time to talk to my husband and treat him as a real human being. Our 3 brief experiences with the Emergency Department over this time have also been top class health care.
My son appeared to be well cared for. Nurses were friendly: However communication was very poor and there was a feeling of obstruction in terms of supporting a family member / staying in the loop. Would expect better.
Epworth is worse than public hospitals in Melbourne and that is saying something, i took my mother to Epworth Richmond Emergency, she waited 4hrs in the waiting room then spent about 20hr in emergency before being moved to the rundown Freemasons Hospital in Fitzroy, initially she was placed in a pleasant room on level 2 then moved down to a… Read more
horrendous 4 bed room on ground where they were all crammed into a small room with paper dividers, all televisions at top volume all day until midnight, food was inedible, cold and generally of very low quality, i mean, what is the point of private insurance and private hospitals when they are worse than public hospitals?! you pay top cover hospital insurance you expect a single room, twin at absolute most and only in extreme circumstances. She ended up checking herself out and catching a taxi home as it was just so bad, the nursing staff were very good though but it is obviously running on bare bones to maximise profits.
incorrect diagnosis in emergency, booked for unnecessary surgery, surgeon did not follow reasonable guidelines. Overall, I regret presenting at this hospital.
Had plastic surgery here with an excellent surgeon kate Webster and her team were wonderful and went above and beyond to make my visit excellent , theatre staff were amazing caring and supportive from checkin to the ward l couldn’t fault a thing the nurses on ward 4 north were wonderful , all nurses assigned to me were wonderful kate being one of… Read more
them the others were great too but lve forgotten their names l needed to have my iv line changed and my veins are very small and hard to find nurse in charge preeete was amazing and got it in straight away , ( l usually need an ultrasound machine to find my veins ) all staff on the ward were really caring even the cleaner who had a lovely smile and said hello
After 2 level ACDF spinal surgery, ICU nurses assaulted me, then complained about unhooking all my medical devices, continually told me to just go in the bottle!, I don't know how many times I said I CANT DO NUMBER 2 IN A BOTTLE! I have to go to the toilet!!!. This is RACIST all the staff involved were dark, it didn't stop there in the inpatient… Read more
upstairs I was watching TV the male dark nurse took the TV as it doubles as a computer, when he was finished he turned it off and moved it out of my reach! This hospital then had the CEO come in my room we got into an argument!!, she upset me that much that all my pain tripled she had to leave my room, the epworth ceo, didn't believe a word I said and has done NOTHING stop this group RACIST nurses, no investigation instead she can continue to assault, intimidate and abuse anyone she doesn't believe have the right to be secure, safe and recover. I spoke with the ceo today 6/5/25 NOTHING, she has done nothing about this!!! All my tattoos that started this malicious attack, abuse are Hebrew tattoos, same as the nurses in Sydney!!, (Satanism)is what i overheard before i was moved to room 6066, is this hatred throughout all Australian hospitals?
Fortunate to be alive – Excellent surgeon, skilled, compassionate, giving me a great result after removing a very serious cancer in my ear. However post op and ICU care at Box Hil Epworth was the worst I have encountered from my experience of many hospital admissions with another rare cancer. I feel it was due to luck rather than care that I survived this admission. Am… Read more
taking the matter further with the medical ombudsman. I have also exculated my concerns through Epworth Box Hill's complaint process.
Excellent hospital – I had Microdiscectomy surgery here 5 weeks ago and my experience with this hospital was superb. All the staff were amazing. The whole process was professional and efficient plus very caring. The food was fantastic, healthy and delicious, I especially liked the portion size which wasn’t too large - perfect for post surgery.

The worst customer service and billing system – The worst customer service experience I had from Epworth imaging. No clear information and explanation of costs is provided to customers before the procedure. Wrong information and different information from different people are provided to customers. Confusing billing sent to customers. It was very unprofessional, and dishonest service was… Read more
provided by this institution. I only hope other customers can see this review and can receive professional service. If possible, just avoid wasting your time and trust to this place. I believe you can find a more professional imaging place somewhere else.
Caring and friendly staff – Spent a day supporting our disabled son who had day surgery. The staff at Epworth Richmond were without exception very caring and helpful with every aspect of our stay, significantly easing our son's nervousness. Thank you all.
A wonderful experience – I had major surgery at Epworth and the care and support is the best I have experienced. The nursing staff are incredibly hard working and made my 4 day stay better than expected.
Additional Fees from Hospital – I recently had day surgery at Epworth Eastern Hospital and as my health insurance didn't cover this, I paid $1420 for day bed and day theatre costs. I have since received and additional bill to cover skin adhesive used during the surgery. WHAT NEXT - I'll have to pay for the bandages and stitches!!!!!!!!!!!! This is outrageous!!!!!
