Festool TID 18 Cordless Impact Driver

I purchased a 3 pack, saw, grinder & drill which inc an impact driver via redemption. I received a driver bit with the drill and it doesnt fit my impact driver. It has a long connection shank into the drill head connection, but the impact requires a short/standard connection shank. Thought this was quite strange, and expect a driver bit fitting the impact would have been sensible... Show details
Love it !! will now convert all my makita battery tools to Festool, I have been with makita for 20+ not anymore – Very powerful whilst being compact and light weight, feels so comfortable when in your hands in use, can’t say enough good things about these new Festool products just amazing quality, worth every dollar Show details · 1
I wish I can say is good – I’ve bought the TID 18 Festool impact driver 10 months ago. Took it for repair once, and waited 3 weeks to get it back. Now, it stoped working again and I have to take it back to where I bought it. Would not recommend this tool to anyone
It’s okay, but could be a lot better – I’ve had this drill, for about a year now, long enough I think to give it quite an honest review. This is a really well designed driver as far as ergonomics go, it feels great in the hand, and is relatively quite for what it is. I do enjoy using this impact driver. BUT it is severely underpowered compared to the the other impact drivers I have… Read more
used, and doesn’t even come close to the driving power of the Milwuakee 18V impact driver. I don’t own one, but have worked with a few people who do, and I would set that as the bench mark for an impact driver. The Festool just won’t keep up with the other impact drivers in terms of speed, and torque. Whenever there is a screw that any other impact driver won’t seem to be able to get out, the Milwaukee will do it. The Milwaukee would pull out screws that you would usually have you reaching for a proper drill put in reverse in high torque gear.
I only know 2 people who own a Festool impact driver, that is myself, and another tradesmen. The other tradesmen I know had his driver fail within a year of purchase. You could pull the trigger and the motor wouldn’t go, at the same time a beeping sound could be heard from the tool. For him it failed whilst screwing down decking boards to joists.
Unfortunately what has lead me to write this review is that mine just failed today, a little after a year from first purchasing as well. It seemed as though something gave way between the motor and the chuck. The motor spins, but it won’t rotate the chuck. I can literally hold the driver bit that’s in the chuck relatively loose in my fingers, pull the trigger, and the driver bit won’t rotate in between my fingers.
I bought it in a kit with the PDC Drill, and it was worth the purchase for the drill, the drill is incredibly smooth when the motor is running. Everyone that picks up that drill and uses it can’t believe how silky smooth it feels. 10/10!
I hope someone from Festool sees this and passes it on, as I would like to continue using their impact driver, but there is a lot to be desired in terms of driving power and quite possibly build quality (seeing as 2/2 of these that I know of have broken). It misses the mark by quite a lot.

Disappointed – Cannot use any of the drill accessories that my old impact driver could It has lost the festool magic that the old one had using the drill as a driver more than the impact

These are the best tools on the market – Great balance and control of the tool, exceptionally Great range of attachments for the drill driver.so easy to change attachments. The sistaner system is also fantastic, unfortunately it doesn’t fit my old ones. Show details · 1
Smooth & Light – Very smooth, light & quiet as per the range of tools, pretty impressed so far high revs are great for tek screws into steel, heaps of torque for the larger screws as well with less twisting of the drill/wrist, had a couple of Panasonic impacts drills and this is slightly smaller & lighter & have quite a range of battery Festool's so this will compliment the range (all we need now is a battery planer) Show details
Improved – So far I'm very happy with the new impact driver, only extra improvement I would have liked to see would have been implementing the same belt clip system as you have on the DRC18 as the new impact has the old style steel belt clip it is fixed on one side only. Show details
Strong but extremely smooth – It’s been a long time coming but it was worth the wait. I’ve been slowly transitioning to the Festool 18v range. Over the years i’ve had my entire toolbox fitted out with Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee and Bosch and all have had their good cordless tools and bad. I’ve been extremely happy using every tool Festool has released and they haven’t… Read more
disappointed with the impact driver. It’s as strong as the Japanese makitas but you definitely know you have Festool design in your hands with smooth operation. Well done Festool, once again you have delivered a solid leader.
