Main control board failed at 18 months, warranty service dubious
This is our third DishDrawer; the first two were purchased in 1999 and 2002 and we kept them going with several repairs until it became uneconomical to fix them, so we purchased this one from Harvey Norman in November 2018. No other dishwasher competes with a double DishDrawer for convenience. Too bad Fisher & Paykel sold out to the Chinese, despite being unreliable at times the old NZ-made ones never suffered any issues for at least the first five years, and when they did go wrong, it was usually an easy diagnosis and straightforward fix. Not ...so with the $2 shop rubbish build quality of the new model. It started playing up on Friday three weeks ago, shutting down completely a couple of minutes into a cycle at first, but then rapidly progressing so that by the end of the day it was completely fried - no display whatsoever, the only sign that it was receiving power being the locks actuating after turning it off and on again at the wall. So we called HN on Monday and to their credit the F&P technician arrived on Tuesday, though we had to wait all afternoon for him. After much head scratching at the lack of any error messages - we'd already advised that when we made the call - he diagnosed that the main control board needed replacing. He tried to feed us some nonsense about causing it to flood by stacking it wrong, but we were not going to take any of that nonsense - one, we've had these machines for 20 years and know how to load them, and two, it's a dishwasher, if the main control board is not sufficiently waterproofed then the machine has a serious design flaw. The technician advised that he needed to order the part, and said he'd be in touch the following Monday. Great, a week of hand-washing the dishes, or so we thought. It's now been two weeks and two more follow-up calls to Harvey Norman, who have been excellent at chasing up Fisher & Paykel, but ultimately are as frustrated as we are. If this is the reliability of the Chinese-made Dish Drawer at 18 months, I shudder to think what it will be like at five years.
We do not recommend purchasing - unreliable and unpredictable
Our previous F&P Double Dishdrawer lasted for 10 years, and the F&P Brand has always been a reliable Brand so we didn't hesitate replacing the old F&P with a newer model the Double DishDrawer DD60DDF. We have owned it since July 2019. In the first 4 weeks after installation we needed to replace the motor due to a large piece of broken glass, 5mm x 10mm roughly in size, that had by passed the filters and had shredded a rubber part inside the motor. F&P replaced this under warranty. The drawers often do not wash the dishes property and we need...to ensure the dishes are rinsed clean, not just of large food stuffs, before putting them in the dishwasher - we have often questioned our own sanity when washing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher to be washed. The dishwasher often decides not to start the cycle until we have unpacked the whole draw and repacked it - this is after checking to see if a plate or cup or piece of cutlery has prevented the lid from closing properly or the water arm from spinning freely - we haven't worked out why it decides not to work but it does this frequently. The empty draw also often decides to turn its self on and do a full cycle regularly, using electricity and water excessively. We haven't worked out why, we understand from the service team, the pump will run to empty water from the drawer but this is a full cycle not just a quick pump of the drawer. We have observed in humid weather, the dishwasher senses it has been turned on and will do a full cycle several times in the day without anyone turning it on. We have also observed on many occasion, simply walking past the dishwasher it decides we've pressed the button and turns on. We are a family of 8, so the dishwasher is frequently walked past! It is also really noisy when it is operating, whiring and grinding and beeping as it goes through the cycle. The last straw was at 2.30am this morning when I could hear a loud pumping sound coming from the kitchen and constant beeping. On getting up to attend to the dishwasher in the middle of the night, I found the lights flashing and dishwasher beeping as if it were an articulated semi-trailer reversing along a narrow laneway in the dark. Not Happy Jan. The only solution was to empty the cupboard under the kitchen sink and pull the electrical plug out to disconnect the possessed machine. On arising this morning and being more level tempered, I turned the machine back on to see if it was OK. It was not and it was locked shut, so I couldn't retrieve our crockery. We have since negotiated a truce and retrieved our crockery and the dishwasher remains unplugged. We haven't got the energy to call F&P and go through the process of spending money on servicing the machine. We will be purchasing a different dishwasher. Even though F&P have great products, the Double Dishdrawer is very nice to look at in the kitchen cabinetry, but at around $2000, it is a very expensive cupboard. Is is not reliably functional as a dishwasher. Please do your own due diligence and research before purchasing one - we definitely do not recommend.

Don’t Bother , not worth the grief
This dishwasher has a recurring problem that Fisher and Paykel are aware of
When you call they say they all have this problem
The pipe splits with the draw going in and out and It leaks
Impossible to get fix as their customer service is non existent
Can only use half the dishwasher and half the time the dishes come out dirty
Not worth the grief
Would never go back to a standard dishwasher
We have just got a new house that has this model of double dish drawer installed. I find the dishdrawers to be an excellent and well thought out product. The dishes always come out very clean and dry. Any plastics I put in the drawers always come out dry which is a huge bonus. The unit is very quiet when it is running. There is a good choice of wash cycles and I find the sanitize and extra dry functions to be very effective. It is very convenient having what is essentially to separate dishwashers. We are a household of 2 and I find I can often ...fit the days dishes in 1 draw. I alternate the drawers to ensure even wear. Would highly recommend this product to anyone. Our previous house had a standard Bosch dishwasher (that I regret buying) which had very poor performance when compared to the F&P dishdrawers.
Constant annoyance and disappointment
I can't tell you how much I would advise you NOT to buy this.
I am in a rental property at the moment so had no choice when this was replaced from the previous model, which although would never have been my choice for a larger family, but did at least work slightly better than this one at 10 years old before it packed it in, or at least it had an excuse not to.
First thing with a larger family (we have 5), you will NOT FIT everything you need in 1 drawer, so we put 2 drawers on a MINIMUM of twice per day = 4 (or 6) dishwashing tablets instead...of 2. Regardless, if it worked, that wouldn't matter, although it is clearly wasteful & more expensive. Top drawer works ok but not great. EVERYTHING has to be cleaned (not just solids - it has to be cleaned and scrubbed so by the time you put in the dishwasher it is pretty much cleaned). I think it is totally ridiculous as i may as well wash them myself as the running water to clean it all is just a waste and pretty sure I have a dishwasher to save my time and effort so I can spend that time cooking for my family not washing dishes. Bottom drawer is a totally different story. From the very first wash, it has never worked - doesn't matter how clean they are they aren't great when they come out. I called the rental company and they sent someone from F&P out... listen to some of the words of wisdom of this guy:

The most convenient washer
Have been using the dishdrawer washers for the last 8 or so years and just purchased the latest model. It's super convenient having 2 seperate drawers for smaller loads which is great for a small household so you dont have to wait the whole week to fill up the washer. It fits quite a lot for what they call a 'half load' and everything stacks well. It is quiet and the best part is being able to stack one drawer with dirty dishes whilst one load is running a cycle. It also has a few different wash cycles including steralise and cleans great. Wouldn't use any other style of dishwasher.
I love the idea, but the reliability of this machine is extremely poor. Time after time the repairman from F&P came to fix it - once he was here three times in a year! It would be fine again for a few months, and then it would die. I have spent so much money fixing this machine that it is ridiculous. Today I am going to buy a new dishwasher, and I saw these dishdrawers and I really wanted them! But the constant repairs, the detritus left on glasses; the failure to drain adequately... I just can't do it. If only I had read any of the reviews online, I would have known. Don't buy one - you will eventually regret it :(

Will never have to wash the dishes again.
This is the best dishwasher ever. The kids even love it and use it.When running it is super quiet .. cleans everything handsdown. Can just pop dirty dishes in without rinsing most of them first .. would never have a conventional dishwasher ever again..
Lasted Six Years - Happy With That
I installed this item myself, worked without any issues for six years. There are now a few issues such as broken opening handle and the motor in one of the drawers is faulty. Estimated cost to buy new motor off EBAY is $120 and I can easily fix it myself. I have ordered a replacement unit and hoping it’ll last five to six years again!
Others may make a fuss about washing pots and pans in dishwashers - I’m not that fussed.
I have the same problem with mine not washing properly and part of the tablet still left over. I to changed to powder which was a bit better but still not washing properly. I brought the Fisher and Paykel 2 drawer 2 years ago and had nothing but problems with it not washer properly. I had the technicians out numerous times replacing parts which didnt help rhen they replaced it with another dishwasher. I have the same problems with this one. Its so frustrating that i paid $1200 for this machine which just sits there because its a waste of time using it. Ive even done two cycles on the same load and still had to wash the dishes by hand. I could have brought a $500 dishwasher that would have done a better job.
Looks Good but interior plastic racks are flimsy
For a $1700 cost - l am very disappointed with the internal plastic racks that are quite flimsy and easily snap- ie when folding down the rack to fit a large pot the hinge just snapped very easily - and NO there was no great force. I have had my machine for 5 years and overall it washes well but the fixtures break very easily. As for appearance - l love the design. Functionality - would never revert back to a single draw, the 2 drawers are fantastic especially if the family is small. Yes the parts to replace are expensive. Instead of chemicals l use - vinegar (1/3 of a bottle) and bicarb soda (1/2 a pkt) on a weekly basis. My machine always sparkles and smells clean - don't forget to clean the filter separately
Never again - need to pre rinse everything
Had my first dish drawer for 12 years with no issue. Replaced it with newest most expensive model and totally regret this purchase. Handles have sharp edges which have cut me twice; machine turns on by itself whenever you close the drawer; often have to rewash entire load; have to re rinse everything; does not clean glasses well; noisy - nowhere near the quality they once were. Last 6 months I have hand washed often so I only have to do the dishes once. No mor F&P for me

Think you need a Double Drawer dishwasher? You really don't - be warned.
We had the DD60DCW9 model for only two and a half years when it broke down. The replacement of "computers" would have been well over $400, and we were really keen to be rid of the thing anyway. It never washed particularly well, and unless you used the intensive, power hungry drying stage, dishes remained wet in the drawers, even if you left it open to air dry. This technique works well with a normal dishwasher. Also, if you leave the machine going after the washing finishes, there is an annoying fan noise for a very long time afterwards if you...leave the drawers closed. For a family of four it also was not practical to manage the filling and emptying of two drawers - not compatible with the KISS principal. The local technician who looked at the broken machine for us said he liked these machines - provides him with lots of work (in other words - do not buy one of these). We have replaced this mistake with a Bosch.

Stainless steel is rusting
Fisher & Paykel dishdrawer EZKleen dishwasher. DD60DAX9
We purchased this dishwasher in August 2019. I really like this dish drawer dishwasher, it looks great in our kitchen and mechanically it still works great.
But the stainless steel Cover now has rust spots. Unfortunately Fisher & Paykel will only replace the stainless steel cover with stainless steel, and I suspect once I have the stainless steel cover replaced, it’ll just rust again. I should really be given a replacement dishdrawer dishwasher that is in black or white to avoid this hap...pening. I would like to add that I do not live near the sea, I’m in a rural area and there’s only 2 of us here, the dishwasher is not used all the time. It is Always kept dry. I’m not happy that I will have to replace the dishwasher Soon after I paid $1200 for it and I’ve only had it 8 months so far. I wish Fisher & Paykel would do more about this than just replace the cover. It’s not fair. I won’t be buying any more fisher & paykel stainless steel appliances and I do not recommend them to anyone.
Will never buy a Dish Drawer again
We purchased a dish drawer as we are on tank water + thought the option to run 1 or both drawers would be economical. Unfortunately this is not the case as you need to have a Phd in how to load the drawer given the very limited room. Very difficult to fit a bread board in the drawer let alone pots + pans when there is already 5-6 cups/glasses plus crockery + cutlery from one meal.
There are only 2 of us in the household but this dish drawer is not adequate for a full day's dishes. Also on occasion the dishes are still dirty at the end of the cycle, and the plastics are never dry, but then we have never owned any dishwasher that does dry plastics.

Poor build quality, poor after-sales service
Not long after we purchased this dishwasher we had a repair callout due to constant errors on the digital screen. Repair tech informed dishwasher was not draining properly, drained it and left (Repair tech has been wonderful). Plastic handle on bottom drawer has since broken and due to being 'just' our of warranty Fisher & Paykel sent parts to repair but we had to pay tech for the labour. Six months later same handle has broken and Fisher & Paykel said they will send part but again we have to pay labour. I refuse to keep spending additional mon...ey on this poor quality build dishwasher. When I spend $1388.00 on a dishwasher I expect it to last longer than 4yrs and have no repeat faults. I will never purchase F&P again because under implied warranty and ACL I expect better quality, the item to be fit for purpose and not have a fault that causes it to fall apart and become unusable. Awful product and total disregard for poor quality products and ACL by F&P. It is also evident that Fisher and Paykel do not seem to care much about their customers given a lack of response on these verified reviews. It just demonstrates a lack of after-sales service quality.
doesn't do what is advertised
Very expensive and kept breaking down It was fixed 4 times until finally after some to and froing a refund was given and the machine was taken away Sorry but I won't be buying this brand again
Love this dishwasher!!!
This is the best dishwasher ever! I love that I can have one half loaded and while its washing I can keep loading the other drawer. I don't have to wait for the dishwasher to finish and be unpacked before I can start packing it again. Washes great, drys great. I love the section for the rinse aid with the light telling me when it needs refilling.
