Don’t do this to yourself
I was an early adopter of fisher and paykel dish drawers first buying one in 2001. I am now up to my third one and this latest model is nothing short of disappointing.
We rinse all our dishes before stacking them in the dishwasher. Issues:
- does not clean properly - we run the wash twice more often than running it once
- dishes especially dinner plates don’t all fit
-can’t fit as much crockery and glasses as previous models
- washer cannot seem to cope with washing plastic containers - if there are plastics in the wash they are not clean, the...

Nice dishwasher but smaller than old ones
Moved into new house but had to replace large single door dishwasher with dishdraw. Had one in my old house since 2009 and love them. Can do washes frequently and have one draw washing while other is getting loaded. Also better on your back and easy to load - it’s a draw. New model is nice but smaller inside and only one set of controls. Let’s see how long it lasts as my old one is still working in my old house. Don’t let me down F&P!

Wish I had read these reviews before purchasing
Have waited for 2 years for new kitchen. Excited when the F&P dishwasher went in as had used one when we were renting. But oh, I am so disappointed. Like a lot of other reviews, the dishes are still dirty, but even worse, as the grim is now stuck on! I rinse most dishes , and still get problems. I may as well just go back to hand washing. Looks like we are stuck with this expensive machine for years to come, as can't afford another. Picture is of our cups after a 69 minute cycle.

absolutely terrible fisher paykel dishwasher
I scrape and rinse all my dishes and yet my double drawer Fisher and Paykel dishwasher doesnt give me a clean wash and cloggs often. Worst of all the bottom drawer just doesnt clean the dishes properly. So tired but its is less than one year old so i guess we are stuck with it. I wouldnt recommend this product top anyone

I have had a single F&P dishdrawer for nearly 21 years. It gave me an error message about 8 years ago and I checked what to do and took it apart (easy!) and cleaned excess powder out. So easy to do this yourself! I scrape plates, rinse some under the tap. In the last few years I’ve used a Finish DW cleaner occasionally in the machine but otherwise do nothing. I’ll definitely buy another - eventually!

I recall a F&P rep tell me that when introducing the Dishdrawer to members of the F&P board, they used a metal two-draw filing cabinet.
Brilliant product. I have had Gen 2 and Gen 4 draws. In my kitchen I have one single each side of the sink. Been running for 10 years now. No faults.

Great Machine would buy another
I bought one of these Machines years ago I installed it myself the installation is different from normal dishwashers and more care is needed for the installation.
The machine was excellent never had any problems as for pre rinsing I do recommend it as I have never come across a dishwasher that can wash off dried on food. BTW manually washing dishes with dried on food is quite a mission in itself a scourer or scraper is required.
So be nice and prerinse.
So far so good.
I bought a second hand unit thats approx 4 or 5 years old and installed it myself - I bought after reading all the reviews and after talking to a colleague that owns an even older model. - so far the dishwasher has worked perfectly. My dishes come out clean, dry and awesome.
here are my opinions : -
-the dual dishdrawers are an excellent concept and design - designed to do a load of dishes a couple might generate in a day - you can be lazy and just grab washed dishes out of one draw and fill up the other with dirty dishe...

This is just a dish wetter, not a dishwasher
If you want your dishes wet and not washed, buy one of these. Without doubt the worst electrical appliance I have ever bought to do anything.
Despite being so careful to load everything so that the water can get to everywhere this machine still can’t clean a glass oven dish sitting right at the bottom, directly over the jets.
It can’t deal with dried on anything so if you leave anything overnight before putting the machine on, don’t expect it to be clean.
In the age of “not pre-rinsing” to save water this machine a a big fail.

worse one we have ever had
We are on our third double draw dishwasher at our home, the second in our holiday unit, over many years,we loved them all up until now, they were great.Did everything very well.
This new one is that bad, we probably wont get another.Reasons.First,doesnt wash as well as the others, doesnt dry as well either.Sure has a dry cycle, but the older one just dried automatically after the washing,in the wash time, which was around 114 minutes. The 'dry' cycle in this one is an option and lengthens the time substantially.Strainer is fiddly to get out and fi...

Bought this dishwasher exactly 3 years ago for $1528 with lots of excitement about the double door, but very disappointed with so many repairs throughout the 3 years and now we are advised to replace the motor. but, we have decided to buy another dishwasher (definitely not F&P) as we can't afford for continuous repairs .
Purchased at Harvey Norman for $1,528.00.
We are bought the drawers dishwasher machine for the price of the Miele. Is time and money waster unit. It doesn't fit the big plates, plastic are weak. The all they features with the sales man are indicate as a plusses you will never use.
Sometime we have to put back plates for Second thirds, time to be clean out. It absolutely ridiculous for those price. We are in UK, got no idea what kind of price are they do in NZ, but the quality of product is Rubbish. Never deal again with them.
3 months old and now useless
After 3 months, lots of error messages. Cannot open the drawer due to error. Customer service is very poor. Called the customer service and waited for 2 hours but no answered.
Purchased in July 2020 at The Good Guys for $1,700.00.
Good not great.
Have had it for about 3 years now. Plastic parts are hopelessly brittle. 3 plastic parts inside the wash tubs have broken, and 3 plastic parts outside the tub have broken, so a bunch of the inner shelves are useless now. Poor effort Fisher and Paykel.

Total Rubbish would never buy another Dishdraws
Comments from other people match our frustrations as well
1. handles kept breaking
2. rotors replacement
3. customer service (That's a joke)
4. heater element needed to be replaced
5. control panel needed to be replaced
overall avery poor experience

Main control board failed at 18 months, warranty service dubious
This is our third DishDrawer; the first two were purchased in 1999 and 2002 and we kept them going with several repairs until it became uneconomical to fix them, so we purchased this one from Harvey Norman in November 2018. No other dishwasher competes with a double DishDrawer for convenience. Too bad Fisher & Paykel sold out to the Chinese, despite being unreliable at times the old NZ-made ones never suffered any issues for at least the first five years, and when they did go wrong, it was usually an easy diagnosis and straightforward fix. Not ...so with the $2 shop rubbish build quality of the new model. It started playing up on Friday three weeks ago, shutting down completely a couple of minutes into a cycle at first, but then rapidly progressing so that by the end of the day it was completely fried - no display whatsoever, the only sign that it was receiving power being the locks actuating after turning it off and on again at the wall. So we called HN on Monday and to their credit the F&P technician arrived on Tuesday, though we had to wait all afternoon for him. After much head scratching at the lack of any error messages - we'd already advised that when we made the call - he diagnosed that the main control board needed replacing. He tried to feed us some nonsense about causing it to flood by stacking it wrong, but we were not going to take any of that nonsense - one, we've had these machines for 20 years and know how to load them, and two, it's a dishwasher, if the main control board is not sufficiently waterproofed then the machine has a serious design flaw. The technician advised that he needed to order the part, and said he'd be in touch the following Monday. Great, a week of hand-washing the dishes, or so we thought. It's now been two weeks and two more follow-up calls to Harvey Norman, who have been excellent at chasing up Fisher & Paykel, but ultimately are as frustrated as we are. If this is the reliability of the Chinese-made Dish Drawer at 18 months, I shudder to think what it will be like at five years.

We do not recommend purchasing - unreliable and unpredictable
Our previous F&P Double Dishdrawer lasted for 10 years, and the F&P Brand has always been a reliable Brand so we didn't hesitate replacing the old F&P with a newer model the Double DishDrawer DD60DDF. We have owned it since July 2019. In the first 4 weeks after installation we needed to replace the motor due to a large piece of broken glass, 5mm x 10mm roughly in size, that had by passed the filters and had shredded a rubber part inside the motor. F&P replaced this under warranty. The drawers often do not wash the dishes property and we need...to ensure the dishes are rinsed clean, not just of large food stuffs, before putting them in the dishwasher - we have often questioned our own sanity when washing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher to be washed. The dishwasher often decides not to start the cycle until we have unpacked the whole draw and repacked it - this is after checking to see if a plate or cup or piece of cutlery has prevented the lid from closing properly or the water arm from spinning freely - we haven't worked out why it decides not to work but it does this frequently. The empty draw also often decides to turn its self on and do a full cycle regularly, using electricity and water excessively. We haven't worked out why, we understand from the service team, the pump will run to empty water from the drawer but this is a full cycle not just a quick pump of the drawer. We have observed in humid weather, the dishwasher senses it has been turned on and will do a full cycle several times in the day without anyone turning it on. We have also observed on many occasion, simply walking past the dishwasher it decides we've pressed the button and turns on. We are a family of 8, so the dishwasher is frequently walked past! It is also really noisy when it is operating, whiring and grinding and beeping as it goes through the cycle. The last straw was at 2.30am this morning when I could hear a loud pumping sound coming from the kitchen and constant beeping. On getting up to attend to the dishwasher in the middle of the night, I found the lights flashing and dishwasher beeping as if it were an articulated semi-trailer reversing along a narrow laneway in the dark. Not Happy Jan. The only solution was to empty the cupboard under the kitchen sink and pull the electrical plug out to disconnect the possessed machine. On arising this morning and being more level tempered, I turned the machine back on to see if it was OK. It was not and it was locked shut, so I couldn't retrieve our crockery. We have since negotiated a truce and retrieved our crockery and the dishwasher remains unplugged. We haven't got the energy to call F&P and go through the process of spending money on servicing the machine. We will be purchasing a different dishwasher. Even though F&P have great products, the Double Dishdrawer is very nice to look at in the kitchen cabinetry, but at around $2000, it is a very expensive cupboard. Is is not reliably functional as a dishwasher. Please do your own due diligence and research before purchasing one - we definitely do not recommend.

Don’t Bother , not worth the grief
This dishwasher has a recurring problem that Fisher and Paykel are aware of
When you call they say they all have this problem
The pipe splits with the draw going in and out and It leaks
Impossible to get fix as their customer service is non existent
Can only use half the dishwasher and half the time the dishes come out dirty
Not worth the grief
Purchased in September 2019 at Harvey Norman for $2,000.00.
Would never go back to a standard dishwasher
We have just got a new house that has this model of double dish drawer installed. I find the dishdrawers to be an excellent and well thought out product. The dishes always come out very clean and dry. Any plastics I put in the drawers always come out dry which is a huge bonus. The unit is very quiet when it is running. There is a good choice of wash cycles and I find the sanitize and extra dry functions to be very effective. It is very convenient having what is essentially to separate dishwashers. We are a household of 2 and I find I can often ...fit the days dishes in 1 draw. I alternate the drawers to ensure even wear. Would highly recommend this product to anyone. Our previous house had a standard Bosch dishwasher (that I regret buying) which had very poor performance when compared to the F&P dishdrawers.
Purchased at Fisher & Paykel.
Constant annoyance and disappointment
I can't tell you how much I would advise you NOT to buy this.
I am in a rental property at the moment so had no choice when this was replaced from the previous model, which although would never have been my choice for a larger family, but did at least work slightly better than this one at 10 years old before it packed it in, or at least it had an excuse not to.
First thing with a larger family (we have 5), you will NOT FIT everything you need in 1 drawer, so we put 2 drawers on a MINIMUM of twice per day = 4 (or 6) dishwashing tablets instead...of 2. Regardless, if it worked, that wouldn't matter, although it is clearly wasteful & more expensive. Top drawer works ok but not great. EVERYTHING has to be cleaned (not just solids - it has to be cleaned and scrubbed so by the time you put in the dishwasher it is pretty much cleaned). I think it is totally ridiculous as i may as well wash them myself as the running water to clean it all is just a waste and pretty sure I have a dishwasher to save my time and effort so I can spend that time cooking for my family not washing dishes. Bottom drawer is a totally different story. From the very first wash, it has never worked - doesn't matter how clean they are they aren't great when they come out. I called the rental company and they sent someone from F&P out... listen to some of the words of wisdom of this guy:

Questions & Answers
The heat plates in both drawers are rusted, is this covered under warranty?
Hi - what are the dishracks and baskets made of? I would like to know because heating some plastics to high temperatures can be toxic.
Initially, nearly 21 years ago, the unit had racks made of metal that had a plastic coating on them after around 17 years I noticed a tiny bit of rust around some of the joints so went online and ordered a new set of racks that are now made of a special plastic compound so they can’t rust. You’d need to ask F&P what the composition of the plastic is so that you can check if it’s OK. You could also ask them the heat of water for the rinse cycle too. The ladies on the phone are very helpful.
Hard composite plastic. Spares are readily available
I have a double drawer dishwasher and I need to run both drawers should I have lots of dishes. I want the top draw to run for 25 minutes and the bottom the same time. How can I set this please. 1st time I purchased this, and I misplace the user guidelines. Any assistance please.
