I have visited the heart ward at Flinders a couple of times as a patient and must say firstly despite treating the nurses with respect i could not get any breakfast despite 5 others all been given theirs when i asked i was ignored..Then i had a sandwich thrown at me by 1 nurse because i could not eat a lot of the food because of diabetes to which… Read more

i had mentioned prior to surgery..When i woke up in recovery the nurse sat on my bed and said you piddled and bled all over the cath lab i get heart failure anyway then screamed get him the h%ll out of here..I could barely speak as they had shoved some cameras and breathing gear down my throat never even bothered to ask if i was ok after leaving Flinders i spent 4 and a half days in the local hospital they sent me home and didnt take one bit of notice of how i felt ...I live in a country area and must say i have never seen so many lazy nurses..The other thing being going back they cancelled an appointment for surgery the bookings officer not there anymore thank god told me they had a week of medical emergencies i waited 12 months for that surgery only to find out they would pick 3 people and only do 2 surgeries a day being from the country it is not easy to come and go not that they cared nor did the health minister...

The care and attention that I received on a recent overnight stay was of exceptional quality. The nurses, doctors and staff were brilliant right from the time that I presented myself at the service desk. From my procedure done by Dr David Worsley to the caring nursing staff in room 425, a BIG thankyou. I also found the food to be of outstanding quality, and plenty of it.

Oh, the food is so bad... I don't understand how it's possible to make simple things like curried sausages or even porridge taste so bad and how you call a piece of bread that has simply had the outside of it dried out a little, toast? The curried sausages was simply unsavable but all it would have taken is a bit of salt in the porridge to make it… Read more

palatable.( I'll have to bring my own next time). I have spent time at the hospital three times over the last six weeks and I dread the thought of being confined to that space and not having access to something decent to eat. Even the sandwiches are bland and tasteless and everyone I had was borderline fresh. I will give benefit of the doubt here and suggest the lack of freshness was due to me being there late in the day. For a private hospital I would have expected better. When cooking, it is generally just as easy to produce something good, healthy and tasty as it is distasteful and unenjoyable. The staff are lovely, so if you don't have to stay too long and are able to get access to decent food you'll be ok.

An unhygienic nightmare – Besides a soiled bedpan being left on my sink for the entire 3 night stay, there was an alcoholic nurse who clocked on drunk. If you care about your health, stay well away.

If you must have a procedure. Definitely recommend Flinders Private – So on Thursday of last week I had to have a procedure on my back and I went to Flinders private hospital for it, because that’s where Dr Green my Painmed specialist operates. None of us like having procedures or operations, but if you’re like me and especially when you get old, some of us have lots of problems and there’s just no getting around… Read more

it. But, as bad as that may seem there is nothing worse than going to an unfriendly hospital for the procedure, and I have been to a couple. But everything about Flinders Private Hospital impressed me. The people were friendly, considerate, patient and generally just very nice, but not just with me. I could tell that the man in the bed next to me was very challenging but the nurse was so patient with him. The surroundings were pleasant and you weren’t stuck in a room in a dressing gown that “ties up at the back”. With lots of other people who you obviously wouldn’t know, and if you’re a private person as I am, you would feel embarrassed. Although you are in a sort of ward, you have your own bed and the curtains are drawn around it whilst you’re waiting to go into theatre. I had my iPad and was watching some oil painting tutorials which really passed the time for me, and although of course the admitting nurses needed to do what they had to do I never felt like it was an intrusion. Once again they were very nice Bottom line, everything went smoothly I walked out happy, and would absolutely recommend this hospital
